A nice start to the story. I'd like to see a bit more about exactly WHAT was going. What were they doing exactly that goes against the moral code. Why didn't anyone see it? Those kinds of details will really pull people into the story.
"Had anyone actually be paying attention they..." I believe be should be been, "Had anyone actually been paying attention they.."

You said you'd be putting up info on other sites you use and such, but your profile is quite blank. You last updated this in August, and it's now October. I'd much prefer to read this somewhere with a subscription function, such as Ao3, but cannot do so without knowing where else this might be uploaded...

I like it so far! =)

In your prologue, I think you meant to use the word "conscience" (an inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one's behavior.) rather than "concussion" (A brain injury caused by a blow to the head or a violent shaking of the head and body.)
