I have never read a more steaming heap of crap in my life - and believe me, I've struggled through some BAD fics. Seriously, what kind of world do you live in? Is casual rape without repssiossion or remorse normal for you? You find this erotic? Not only is Harry *painfully* OOC, but you've made him into a total creep without sufficient reason, you've made Hermione a victim, and I won't even START on your shocking prose.

Do the world a favour and sort out your head before you even attempt writing again. I'm revolted.

"As selyne pointed out, homosexuality isn't a character trait, it's a genetic one, so making a character gay isn't making them OOC."

God are you a complete moron or what? Whether homosexuality is genetic or not is irrelevant.
Explain to me how taking a character that is straight in canon and turning them into a gay/bi character "isn't making them OOC."
Even if you ignore the gay aspect of it, its not like you're pairing him with Ron or Seamus; Harry/Lucius and Harry/Snape. What's next Harry/Voldemort? Would that be OOC yet?
You're lucky that every person who considers your stories OOC don't leave flames as reviews, if they did flames would outnumber actual reviews 50-1.
Fortunately most people are intelligent enough to simply move on.

    To Vertex,
Ignore the imbeciles and move on with your delightfully OOC Harry.

    SlytherinDamien:

After seeing your latest comments I can hold more respect for your point of view.

I still disagree about whether or not the events depicted in this fic are or are not rape, I personally believe they are but you are entitled to your opinion as well.

Let us just agree to disagree on that point and I believe I will merely disassociate myself totally from this fic and the arguements involved with it.

    Regards, the Exaggeration.

I am saying it isn't rape. Rape is forced, I don't think any court would convict him (concerning the 1st chapter, if it was real I mean). And for the 3rd chapter, it's not even debatable. That wasn't rape. Regardless, Vertex labelled it just in case, so this chick comes here, not only flaming (and as restrained as it might have been in its wording, that's all it was) but going out of her way to mention the fic elsewhere to get others to agree with her. If the fic didn't appeal to her, and she certainly could tell what it was by the summary, she should have not read it. There's a flame war because dumbasses with double standards are popping in. If I had done exactly what she did here to one of her fics, her and her type would have been telling me off for how uncalled for it was, but somehow she justifies her hypocracy here.

Yes, JK had gone after all adult fics, but slash specifically was the core motivation that was expressed regularly in the media. I'd look for articles, but... meh.

I wouldn't have said shit or started this 'flamewar' if the people dissing Vertex's fic just said they didn't like the story and thats it. Arianrhod went farther than just saying she didn't like it and I'll defend the fuck outta someone being rode on by a hypocrite like Arianrhod. I hope when I'm 30, I have the time and lack of life to run around dissing fanfiction clearly made for people who have different tastes.

PS: Sorry to anyone ELSE (not Arianrhod) who I offended with my anti-slash tirade. I don't really hate slash or most slash fans, I just got pissed. When I see slash I respect the author and just move on to the next fic instead of getting on my high horse about how much it goes against canon and flaming it.

    Hyperbole:

Some say it is a rape and other say it isn't. Let's just leave it at that. No more arguing. This story has warning stating that some people may classify the Hermione episode as a rape. I don't think you should change his viewpoint just because of what you think. It the same as my feelings toward the HP livejournal fandom; I don't agree with what most people say and do there but I don't act on my feelings because I know I can cause anger and frustration in some degree.

People let's drop the rape topic and stop the flaming...

    To SlytherinDamian:

You say Arianrhod does not know what rape is? So you are saying this fic is *not* rape? More fool you then!

I may of course be wrong about this, I have never claimed to be an authority in much in life but I thought JKR was against NC-17 fanfics of her work on a whole, not just slash. I'm sure that if she read Vertex's fic she would be disgusted and appalled too. From what I heard she did not like the idea of adult material based on her work being available for underage readers to access - het or slash.

As for the C&Ds, they had their effect on the fandom, most archives now have password systems set up and frankly it's probably damn lucky JKR hasn't made any more moves to k dok down on fanfiction again because this site would be a major casualty if she did.

To recap my statement: JKR is not against slash alone, she is against *ALL* adult material and this fic would go down all too quickly if she ever saw it. It's rape, to bones about it.

Vertex: My pity to you that you must endure a flamewar on your review page but the fact thou rou refused to see that you wrote rape is one of the reasons for it.

Arianrhod, your hypocracy is astounding. I take great comfort that your livejournal blah, blah, blah, and some other self rightious middle aged women agree that this is OOC and crap, really, and I think Vertex does too. I think 30 year old women obsessed with faggots, excuse me "bi-sexuals" (and you have the guts to pretend you have some moral ground to stand on; bi-sexuals... *rolleyes* fucking hippy) really are the best judge of fanfiction, since theirs is always the best... no, I mean most pretentiously written trash in fandom. I'll take 100 mary-sues written by preteen girls who can't spell over the shit you and your type write. Also note, your pep squad of self elected 'authorities' on IC/OOCness and quality writing wouldn't know good writing if it beat the shit out of them with a stick and spit in their faces.

There is no proof homosexuality is genetic. For every study that says it is, there's another that says it's not. It's politically correct to label it genetic, but don't you dare try to put this out as some unquestionable fact.

Speaking of... FACT: Harry Potter is attracted only to girls. Harry is attracted to Cho, and not being a good kisser doesn't mean shit. Harry is NEVER attracted to ANY boy. Trust me, the books are from his perspective, we would know. It's not 'open to interpretation'. It's canon fact, iron clad that Harry Potter is 100% heterosextual.

For the record, J.K. and WB DID try to go after sites to shut down slash stories (specifically) and has publicly stated her distaste for the disgusting trash. I'm not sure why they stopped pursuing it (unenforcability would be my guess), but they've made their stance clear. How you missed that and have been involved in fanfic is beyond me.

Oh, and for the record, we don't care how old you are (wisdom and age have been divorced for decades), most fanfic period is written by women, and we know that slash is a chick thing. A nasty, disgusting chick thing.

Anger is perfectly healthy, certainly more healthy than being a faggot. Or obsessing over faggots through fanfiction. You might be calm, but you were also wrong. Both in being a hypocrite, and for being a 30 fucking year old woman who doesn't know what the fuck rape is.

Everyone take a chill pill... Stop flaming each other...

There was a warning right before you read the first chapter stating that some people may find this story offensive because of rape... This author clearly knows about the offensive part, and consequently, there is a warning...

I happen to like this story because I find it very original... I can't find anything anher her Harry sexaholic fan fiction on the net... Harry is sad and needs relief so he finds the easy way out... Escape reality and how does he do it... Sex... I still believe Harry should get punished at the end but that's my opinion... This story does portrays a cruel Harry and some of you may argue that it is OOC... No body is going to to know how Harry turn out in the sixth year except Rowling... It's not likely Harry will turn into a cruel bastard but it is also not likely that Harry will turn homosexual and have snape become his biological father... But like you people said it is possible... Thus, the out of character subject should not be brought up since no one except J. K. Rowling can perfectly characterize Harry... All fan fictions are made up and do not need to be 100% 'in character'... Let the author write whatever he or she wants... I you disagree then leave and don't spend all your time ranting and raving... Please, it's childish...

Fan fiction are for the purpose of entertainment and you people are making it like a war ground... Please stop... Let's stop the madness and let the story be... Some people like it and some people don't... If you disagree with the author's plots or viewpoints of the story then stop and exit... Simple as that and everyone can avoid a flame war....

Sometimes you need a little orginality in a fan fiction or else all stories will be practically the same... That's all I've got to say... Update soon Vortex...
AGAIN TO PEOPLE WHO FIND THIS STORY OFFENSIVE BECAUSE OF RAPE... READ THE WARNING IN THE FIRST CHAPTER!!!

Oh, for fuck's sake. *rolls eyes*

I read this story. I didn't like it, and explained why in what I thought was a rational manner. Even in my LiveJournal (the address of which is in my AFF.net profile) I said that I held out hope that Vertex could eventually write something positive, and that presented both the characters and sex in a better, more normalized light.

My review here was not a flame, and anyone with any sense would have seen that. It was my comment on why I didn't like the story.

As for my writing of slash, and the whole "in character"/"out of character" debate, for the record, my characters tend to be bisexual, except in one story arc-- my Delicate Boy series-- where Harry is actually gay. As selyne pointed out, homosexuality isn't a character trait, it's a genetic one, so making a character gay isn't making them OOC. And for me, I write slash for a simple reason-- none of the female characters in the books, apart from Tonks, Luna and Bellatrix are even remotely interesting to me. There's more substance with the men, so it's easier to write fan fic with them involved with each other. Plus, I think it's hot, so it's my choice.

Oh...and for the record, I'm a 30 year old woman, not a guy. Get a grip. Most slash is written by women.

Please, just get over yourselves. I said why I didn't care fhe she story, and I did so in what I considered a calm manner. Some of you should seriously look at your anger and vehemence in response. That kind of anger, over words on a website, isn't healthy.

Hyperbole you are fucking pathetic. How can you flame something you haven't even read?

You just wrote this crap based on the biased opinion of that idiot arianrhod, the guy who complains about out-of-character characters but ends up writing stupid fag-fics where Harry is blatatly gay. But I suppose a gay Harry, that has a Malfoy as his love interest isn't out-of-character for you is it?

Get a fucking live! And read before you flame!

PEOPLE!!! This is turning into an acid bath back and forth!!! Stop this and get on with the story, kay?

If you really have to complain about rape, review The Final Escape, also by Vertex, that includes Harry and Bellatrix getting "friendly" with each other.

If you really have to take out your anger at the world, don't read fanfiction. Get out of your computers, find yourselves a good-looking guy or girl, then join a gym where you can punch sand bags all day long until you're calmer. It works wonders for me, look at me, I'm a man of peace, without anger and without pent-up sexual frustration, which seems to be a growing problem, particularly among this fic's reviewers. ;)

Remember Ghandi, people; non-violence is the solution ( even if you feel better beating the crap out of someone )

I never aproved of turning review messages into some kind of forum where people just try to beat each other, but after reading Hyperbole's message, this is where I draw the line.

First, whoever writes a fic has the right to make the characterbit bit OOC. Considering all the stuff Harry went through these last years, although I doubt he would go to such extremes, it is not to be ruled out entirely.

Second, you, and a lot of people like you, are greatly mistakioercoercion with force in Hermione's case; with Cho, I really can't see how anyone could even think about rape, since she was the one who told Harry she was ready.

Third, if you dont' like the fic, don't read it. If you agree with the flames, kindly do so silently, without forcing your opinion on others. You stated that this wasn't a review, it was a message supporting this fic's flammers, so you shouldn't even have written it.

I find it unlikely for Harry to be gay, but that is, obviously open ground for discussion. But it seems to me as you are supporting Arianrhod, who complains about the characters being OOC, but only writes OOC characters himself. Even if Harry IS gay, I doubt he would take an interest in Snape or the Malfoys.

Lastly, try not to involve other reviewers in your rude comments. People do have the right to like this fic, it isn't abominable to like it, nor does contibute to the "world's lousy moral state" , or whatever nonsense you spat in your message, just because you say so. If you're so damn concerned about morality, stop reading stories in adultfanfiction.net. Also, stop reading Harry Potter books. There are some Evangelists who say it is immoral and evil you know? I'm surprised you haven't joined one of those groups who buy Harry Potter books just gatheter ter and make a bonfire with them.

P.S.Dana's right, they are shmucks. And some of the things they let through...if people find THIS apalling, I could name one or two fics residing in ff.net that would make you vomit your lungs out.
