Reviews for Sub Rosa

Loved the story, am now going to read the sequel. Also, a note: the term "bated breath" originates from the word bate (not bait, a common mistake), which means to suppress or hold back. So, one bates one's breath by hold it in, not breathing. Keep up the good work!

Superb, simply superb. A better OFC fic I have never seen, and I love the spy angle.

I"ve been reading another of your stories, and found this one tonight. I find that I get totally lost in your characters and stories and I just wanted to thank you for writing them. You put so much depth into the characters its amazing. I only got part way through the story and can't wait to finish, but right now I get to go to bed with my own "Snapey" husband.

I cannot begin to tell you how much I enjoyed Sub Rosa. I actually finished all but the last few chapters in one day I was so absorbed. The charater development was amazing, bringing in you own viewpoint of King Arthur and the Fey was brilliant, and your OC characters were so multi-dimensional and real. I'm starting on the sequal now and if it's anything like this story, I know I won't be disappointed. Thank you soooo much for writing this. It has been truly enjoyable.

Well, I can tell what I'm going to be spending my spare time doing for awhile. Another great story unfolding!

This is an amazing story. It's absolutely enthralling and it managed to keep me captivated for hours. I'm almost grateful that I'm only finding the Harry Potter fandom now - I don't think I would've made it through having to wait to find out what happens to Kathryn and Severus. Thank you for being so generous as to share this wonderful work with us all.

I just had to let you know how much I enjoyed this story. I've spent the better part of a week reading it. I have to catch a few minutes here and there whenever I can. I have two small children, so you know how that can be. Your story was very well written, and really captured my imagination. Keep going! Thank you for writing it.

Wow! Just...wow! I have literally spent all day reading this, and now my husband is very much not happy with me, because all of the things I said I'd do today didn't get done. No clean clothes, no clean dishes, no clean kids...you get the idea. Oh well. It was worth his growling and scowling. I am gonna start on the sequel tonight! (when everybody's in bed--no interruptions, andn no husband giving me funny looks and telling me I am crazy. Heehee) You are truly talented. And you are officially to blame for my permanent fixture of a chair to my rear. Thank you very much. ;-)

This was so much more than a story!
It is a beautiful universe. I'll read the story again soon and the review will be a lot bigger.
    Kathryn is a wonderful character.
The explanations you give to all sort of things are believable.
The characters you introduced are impressive.
You've managed to save the last of the Malfoys from darkness.
You gave Lupin a happy end.
You kept Snape in character very well.
For all these and for so many others, thank you.

Wow -- amazing. I wanted to leave you a note before I rushed off to read everything else you've ever written. Having seen plenty of HP stories with irritating, half-baked original fictional characters, I'm impressed that you came up with not just one startlingly good one but a whole bunch. Kathryn is perfect: similar to Snape in some ways and not at all like hi oth others, a mix that makes her completely believable as his love interest (not to mention a darn interesting person to read about). Brilliant, as Ron would say. If you're ever in need of an extra beta, I'd be happy to look over your commas and semi-colons for you; I also write for a living.

WOW!! This was an amazing story, I loved every minute of it. Your characterization of Severus and harry was wonderful and spot on I think. Katheryn was enjoyable with out falling into the Mary Sue'ishness that I can't stand. Wonderful job all told

    Absolutely marvelous.

Lord, but you are a thorough writer. The way that you captured them all was very fulfilling. I'm especially fond of Harry and Draco -- you've portrayed them so realistically that I can believe in the respect they earn from one another. I think that what makes this so wonderful is not so much the relationship and character development of Snape & Kathryn -- although that alone was worth the read -- but the full tapestf sif side characters. I cannot WAIT for the sequel!

Thank you for many hours of entertainment,
    TQ

I will repeat what I've said before: this author has an amazing gift for description. Reading her work is as close to watching a film as reading ever gets -- she is clearly a visual person. That said, she is also an unusually gifted observer of human nature. I've said that she writes great dgue gue but it is so much more than just conversation. There is a depth of understanding of human nature in the author's words that results in characters who are both true to J.K. Rowling's books and to people we've known (and sometimes been) in our own lives.

There are precious few SS/OFC stories that I've enjoyed and even fewer that I've recommended. I whole-heartedly urge people to read this. If you enjoy good fiction, these are wonderful stories. If you want to learn to write, these should be required reading!

yes yet another review in the same day, no more than a few chapters apart. "Honey I'm home"...and "It started raining students"...I donnow now why but i find both of these lines to be very funny...and i appreciate the laugh.

P.S. this thought just came to me, but i think of Snape as looking kinda like Trent Reznor, but with more British dignity a big bigger nose. how bout you?

I LOVE the Sex Pistols reference!!! I always thought that Snape had a punk-type attitude, that and maybe some metal. I can see him banging that long black hair to Metallica, Slayer, Fear Factory, or even Deicide. Good thinking on the music ref.
