    So Remus is alive?

    best lines:
Now pay attention, Professor Dumbledore is about to give the Forbidden Forest speech and it’s always so riveting. One never tires of it.”

“Must you equate everything to a muggle film?”
“Only because I know it grates on your nerves,” she answered, brushing his lips with hers.
    “You are an impossible woman.”
    “Pot, meet kettle.”

bl: This year’s graduates were fine individuals. They entered Hogwarts on the tail end of the Dark Lord’s legacy of Death Eaters and destruction....This group of Slytherins were determined to change the reputation of Slytherin House. They still exhibited all the traits that made them Slytherin in the first place; cunning, determination, and a penchant for using whatever means necessary to gain their desires. But these traits were tempered in this group and they set the bar for the subsequent Slytherins to follow.

    best lines:
“In the long run,” said Hermione, taking a bite of her chicken, “I don’t think I was as afraid of the consequences of the divorce as I was of the consequences of living without Severus.”

“You know, Hermione,” she said, putting down her fork, “I once was in a similar situation. Unfortunately for me, I chose the safe route. I chose to maintain my marriage even though it wasn’t right for me and I knew it. I was afraid of the stigma of being a divorced witch back in those days...So I sat out a bad marriage until he passed on.”

“He’s beautiful,” she smiled, “he’s like some dark fallen angel. He’s brilliant, bold, has a sharp wit… When he smiles it’s like a gift. He treats me like a woman but never seems to forget that I’m also a scholar. "

Minerva was surprised to find she was enjoying Severus’ company more than she had in years. He still had that sarcastic edge, but it was tempered somewhat by genuine good humor. She carefully watched the interplay between Severus and Hermione, noting the chivalrous manner in which he treated the younger witch.

“If you’re suggesting that I swept in and stole Harry Potter’s wife as a form of revenge for his father swooping in on Lily Evans, the answer is no. At the time I met Hermione in New York, I had long given up my petty hatred of all things Potter."

...after talking with them both, she was no longer concerned for Hermione. If anything, she was concerned for Severus. His heart was fragile and unused to love. But Minerva firmly believed his heart was in good hands.

Loved Severus pointing out how little Potter knew Hermione. Especially the bit on the obituaries. And the coffee - how could Pothead not know that?

    best lines:
You took her for granted. You assumed she’d always be there for you, no matter HOW you treated her. You assumed she wouldn’t care that you showed her no support and never listened to what her dreams were. All you were concerned about was how SHE fit into YOUR life. You never once considered that she might have wanted a life too. You used her. She was a trophy to you. A beautiful and brilliant woman on your arm. You didn’t care that you stifled her brilliance. How could you ever believe that Hermione would settle for being merely a wife and mother when there was so much more out there for her?”

Harry pulled out his wand and pointed it at Severus. He wanted to shut Snape up. Make him stop talking. Make him stop telling the truth.

"... But I’m sitting in the Great Hall for dinner not long before graduation and this owl swoops in with a letter from Trinity accepting me carte blanche, all paid for, including books and supplies, with an open field of study. A fellowship, they claimed. I had Albus check it out and it was legitimate…”

“I remember the look on your face when you read the letter,” said Severus, “your whole face lit up. It was perhaps the truest emotion I had ever seen in my life. It was like all the hope that had left your eyes after the tragedies that befell you flooded back in.”

"But Hermione, seeing that look in your eyes when you thought you would never be able to be what you wanted to be, study what you wanted to study…that broke open something inside of me. I chose to lose my dreams. They were being taken from you. You were my best student. I couldn’t look at the defeat in your eyes. All I had was money sitting in a vault at Gringott’s, but with that money, I could give you back your dreams, the dreams the war took away.”

That was nice and amicable. I'm glad you chose to write Harry as her first husband and not MoRon. I wish more authors would do that.

She realized that she wasn’t leaving Harry for Severus, she was leaving him for her. She was incomplete with Harry. He had his dreams and she had her dreams, and they were in constant conflict.

OMG I cannot wait for the sequel....I LOVED IT!!!!!!!

It was a truly amazing story...granted there were a few spelling errors, but nothing so big that took away from the story!

    FANTASTIC

When I read this, I was wondering why it was so important that Severus and Hermione have sex before she was divorced. At first they didn't care. Then they were trying to discuss why it had to have been at the exact moment it was done. Next, it was wrong but it was truly right for them.

How can Severus ever be sure she will ever truly be his if she cheated on him with her last husband? The problem with infidelity is that it gets easier after you do it the first time...not harder.

I found myself enraptured by this story nevertheless.

I haven't figured out why HP had to be such a boorish oaf, but I understand the worse he was as a husband the more grounds she has for being unfaithful.

I am trying to read your follow up. Thanks for your writing this challenge fic.

Very good story. Only one problem though---Chapter 18 is blank. Otherwise one of my favorite Snape/Hermione stories.
