This is the best fic I've read in a long time..and like everyone else, I cried my heart out. Well maybe not my heart but my eyes for sure. You are a truly talented writer and know just how to use peoples emotions to the advantage. I really look forward to more.

Yes, I do get it. Strange how the human mworkworks, though, isn't it? Sorry to hear about your father. I nev never experienced a real loss like that. Well, not in the way that Hermione has. My cousin died this summer from cancer, but we all knew it was going to happen. It wasn't as abrupt and unexpected as it is in the story. Well, they all knew the final battle was going to happen, they just didn't really realize that it was going to happen, it was going to happen soon, and people were definitely going to die. Denial is a tragic thing.
But anyway, this chapter is very good. Poor isolated Hermione! Her parents were great though, frighteningly understanding. One thing that always peeves me about fanfics, when they name Hermione's parents. They always pick such preppy names like "Matthew and Karen Granger". No offense to any Matthews or Karens, but no one named Matthew or Karen would name their daughter Hermione. I'm glad you didn't mention any names for them (you didn't, did you? I didn't notice any, if you did I'd feel awfully stupid right about now, but I'm too lazy to go back and check). However, if you do want to name Hermione's parents, be sure to name her mother Helen because in Greek mythology, Hermione is the only child of the famed Helen of Troy.... wow,ure ure like going off on tangents, don't I? Yet again, great writing... hope to see another quick update, despite the Xmas mania!

Another great chapter - your sense of atmosphere is perfect. I like the little humor bits you throw in, also, to keep it from being too dark... especially: "I don't know if you've ever been fawned over by a Hufflepuff, but it's something akin to being stared at by a golden retriever wagging its tail and dropping a ball at your feet." I can completely see Snape saying something like this! More soon, please ;). (Although I know, from personal experience, just how harrowing retail is at XMas time, so update when you can! No pressure!)

I CRIED!!! It takes A LOT to get me to cry while reading ff's! It's only haed led like 3 other times, yet you made me cry with the beginning of that chapter! Love how you turned the tables on how people see Severus, quite realistic. Glad he realizes that Hermione's always respected him and that he's not really looking at her as a student anymore and hoping that he'll do something about it soon! Update soon!

Ok.. well now that someone else has admitted to almost crying... I actually did cry. Your story just seems to have this 'persona' that just triggers emotions (especially mine) and rips my heart out. Keep writing intellegently like you are- I'm sick of stupid, illiterate stories. Also, to view your reviews... no idea. :S Take care!

    Sob!!

    Again I say, wonderful.
You take as long as you need to write this.
It is definitely worth waiting for!!
Hermione's memories of her friends at the beginning of this chapter bought the biggest lump to my throat.
    Keep it up

    Well.....
You have managed to acomplish what only a few other authors (namely Shem and Rilla!) have..

    You made me cry.

    Great big sobs!

That was such a sad and touching first chapter, that if you don't continue I think I will have to come looking for you, and shake the chapters from you!
If, as the saying goes 'You start as you mean to go on' then I can't wait!!
    Wonderful
    Big first chapter kisses

Wow. That was incredible. Definitely very well written. Congratulations, you're the first AFF writer to actually make me cry... well, I didn't actually cry, but I assure you I wanted to. One thing struck me as funny though: one second Snape is dwelling on how sad and alone he is, the next he's thinking about his crush on Hermione. I don't know if it's a guy thing or somethin jus just thought it was unususal (and amusing). Seriously great fic; update!

Gorgeous chapter. Very well written, the last battle from both viewpoints is fabulous. Can't wait to see more of the aftermath, and how Severus and Hermione help each other...
