Reviews for A Terrible Temptation

Wow. You nailed it. Hermione's breakdown was realistic, and expected, the way she was holding everything in. I have also been through a very traumatic event, not war, but the death of my child and the similarities are astounding. Nightmares, denial, exaustion, flashbacks to things you could never change. This chapter made me cry. Then at the end it made me smile, because there is always letting go and forgivness at the end of the nightmare if we are to grow and move on. Well done as always, I'm thankful that you continue to update so frequently and I will be sad when this story ends.

Recent chapters have been quite dramatic and it was only natural
that Hermione would eventually crack - I do love the image though
of Severus gently holding a sleeping Hermione. Lovely.

    Happily awaiting more...

    Cheers

This story is so great. Really liked this last chapter. How Severus came to comfort Hermione when she finally opened up.

    Excellent chapter Barrie!
Wow, when Hermione's dam burst, it bursts in a BIG way. I am just glad that Severus and her friends were there with her. Lavender is way cool in your fic.
I am concerned for your Ginny though. I hope she and Harry can heal together like I expect Hermione and Severus will.
    Wow (again).
    Thanks again for writing this.

I hope you didn't think I was criticizing your battle-end decision -- I really liked it on a gut level (as in, "hey, there's something I haven't read a thousand times before, neat!"), and now that youlainlain why you didn't want Hermione in the center of the action at the crucial moment, I can appreciate it intellectually as well. And thank goodness you didn't stick lemons in this chapter; that really would have been too soon. The empty seats -- followed by smaller House tables -- were a poignant detail of loss.

Anyway, the comforting embrace is much better from a storytelling point of view than anything more physical, even a kiss. Plus it makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Ginny's troubles seem only too rsticstic after such a psychologically scarring battle. But please ... can she have a happy ending too?

Chapter 39 was perfect. Very in charicter. I loved the battle, it was nice the way you had everything in either Hermione or Severus' perspective and didn't feel the need to have one of them standing there staring at Harry as he killed Voldemort. I also like hou fou finished up the battle. Some people forget that it's not over until all the bad guys are down and out. I look forward to the happy ending. Asumeing there will be one.

Chapter 39... BRAVO!!! I 100% agree with the path you chose to take in this chapter!!! You are writing about a very serious situation & it would not do this FABULOUS story justic swe sweep the after affects under the rug just so that they can jump into bed!!!

I think you did an AMAZING job in giving a realistic & very human look into their lives in this chapter!!! I feel for Ginny as well as Hermione!!! They are all having to deal with the tremmors of things that they should have never had to be faced with!!! Hermione is so very strong, but even she needs to allow herself relief from all that she saw!!!

I very much like how you ended this chapter!!! The humor that you included was very fitting & needed to help lighten the sad mood!!! I am glad to see that Harry is finally seeing beyond his nose to do the right thing & I think that Hermione will be very proud im wim when she finds out!!!

I look forward to seeing how these people put their lives back into some form of order!!! I hope that Ginny will see that she can lean on her friends & that she will be okay!!! Maybe the bit of growing up that Harry just did will be just what they need to help her as well as their relationship!!!
I also hope that Hermione & Severus' relationship will grow stronger after this!!!

Can't wait to see where you take them next!!! Til chapter 40, Deb >^..^

This story gets better with every chapter, and I am impressed with your ability to keep them all in character so well. I am looking forward to updates, and hoping for a bit of lemon soon, perhaps? Heaven knows they deserve it!

Me again. SNIFF! That was beautiful! I'm so glad you keep the characters in what I see as canon - it's always harder to read fanfics when there are implied personality transplants. MORE!

I have somehow missed your updates, so had several chapters to read all at once. Quite delightful actually. The scope of your battle sequence was magnificent. Congratulations on your bringing in the dragons and giants and dementors, it added so much layering of canonical icons to the tale. I like the different reactions of those involved in the battle sequence. Harry and Ginny really are made for each other, as are Ron and Lavendar. Of course Snape and Hermione we already knew were the ideal couple... mind and body (well, that last part we hope for).
