Curse you, curse you, curse you!!

I'm now finding my attention drifting through the day to try to puzzle out the mystery before you reveal the answer to us (fyi, I've been betting on Neville for the past 10 chapters or so, my snotty earliermentment about Alice notwithstanding) but THIS is why I hate mysteries. My poor compulsive personality won't let go of this story! If you'd been kind enough to be even a mediocre writer, I wouldn't be so caught up in this but noooooo, you have to be talented with just enough whisps of whimsy (Old Jack, the kids picking up on every curse word), insight (Ron's reaction to kissing Francoise, the perverse satisfaction of Snape getting away with no haircut) and suspense (are Snape's instincts that Hermione is in danger accurate?).

In case it isn't clear, I am so enjoying this. You've even given me a desire to go back and read "Heart of Darkness" (which I loathed my first time through, so that's saying something!).

Looking forward to your future posts ~ this story and any others you may come up with.

Go Snape Go!! I worked on a psych floor of a hospital during nursing training, and I'm shocked that they didn't have the doors set with alarms or wards! However, doesn't upset me too much - I wanna see what Snape does. What is drawing him out to Hermione? From the sound of things, she is walking into some kind of mortal danger and we'll see if perhaps he is there in time to save the day.

Until next chapter where perhaps we might find out if he finds a clothesline close by to grab some 'non hospital gown' outfit, and perhaps something for his poor feet.

So, pivotal chapter eh? It's obviously pivotal for Snapey - must be the first time in a long time that he's felt like doing anything at all, so naturally he goes for the big one and absconds. Good on him. Glad Cuthrell has been n thn the heave-ho, although I wouldn't put it past him to get his revenge in some way. Don't let them drug Snape please!

I no longer have any idea who did it - Petunia still seems a good bet to me, but how would she get full grown paralysed men onto a table to wield the knife? Maybe she does weightlifting as a hobby.

Glorious reading - I'm glad I'm around for the next few days so I can get my fix on a daily basis!

Methinks...methinks the killer is Fionn Fortescue. Mentioned once. Obscure enoughiendiendly type. Trustworthy father figure. Would be trusted by the victims. Has access to food-> hemlock connection. Skilled with knives, probably.
Can you tell your story's driving me nutty? ^_~

*pounces on the author* good lord, this is intense. and you forgot jeffery dahmer. he had more than fingers and toes in his freezer. ;) oh, now that would be entertaining for snape to find out about... sex slave by pouring acid into someone's head, dear? anyway, i'm rambling. at the risk of sounding like a complete and utter teeny-bopper, when is the next chapter out? you have me hanging on so tightly, and your skill, your plot devices, your characterizations of dumbledore and shacklebolt not what would be the norm... i adore this fic. :)

Well, I have done a lot of thinking about this story...I had noticed that they were all men, with families. It seems like they all had the same number of children, alth I h I could be wrong. This morning, I was sure it was Albus. I mean-it could be some sort of propesy thing and maybe there was something going on with them that we didn't know about (i.e. special powers, knowledge, etc) But now I don't know...

Maybe it's Ron. He obviously loves children, and I don't remember him saying why he never settled down (again, he could have said and I don't remember. I could be wrong) He maybittbitter about having to take a desk job after his injury. He may feel he has to punish other people for having what he wants-a perfect life.

That's my guess right now....it'll be different tomorrow.

So really, anyone who knew the other people. ledoledore pretty much knew everyone.

Maybe Malfoy because he doesn't have a perfect life. AND he showed up at the funeral (of Harry). Weird? Yes.

    Maybe a Weasley?

    Dumbledore .... though. ....

Neville, Luna, Ron, Draco, Ginny, Dumbledore, Shacklebolt, and Cuthrell --- those seem tothe the one only names you've dropped other than some Hogwarts teachers, Arthur, and our heroes, beyond victims, their families and a supporting cast like the receptionist. Leaving the latter for now, you've said in the AN's that the clues are there. Given that and Severus and Hermoine's revelations in the last chapter, I'd rule out Shacklebolt and Cuthrell for now --- no info beyond their roles in the story that I've pick up and not likely to know all the vics. Luna broke Neville's heart by breaking up with him shortly before their wedding and he's gone through several jobs since it seems (possible link to all the vics). Herbology was his best subject so he would know about hemlock's properties. He and Ginny may be seeing each other or not, so is he a man with a grudge against happily married family men because its been denied to him? What about Ginny? She may have been carrying a torch for one of the vics, Harry, and Neville may have been stringing her along. Her career was ended by an injury that she could re eve even if she is now making as much marketing a team. Would they all have known her? Luna? Not enough info. Ron? All can of possible clues there --- too many memories that, unlike Snape, have made him resent those he protects rather than desire to kill himself, an injury that has limited his field work and thus his career, a lifetime of feeling the "squire" to the "prince", feeling he couldn't love the girl for fear of loosing her, feelings of never having loved anybody, an apartment that still looks and feels like a student dorm room, and the resentments/anger he has for Dumbledore. Hummm? Dumbeldore? Still feel he's a manipulative old SOB that has hurt/used/mistreated a lot of people, but I don't think he's the killer. Draco --- a few brief references, but nothing to work with as a clue other than all would have likely known him given his family's prominence. More clues PLEASE!!! Loving this story.

Petunia is starting to sound likely to me. Where is she by the way? She hasn't been around for a bit. Up to no good with a knife perhaps? Otherwise, I have no idea at all. Still a great story he whe way.
