i like this. i like how confident and cool hermione is. she's weighed her options, probably had her fits of anger and depression, made her plans, and now she's acting. she's so purposeful. i like this. i hope you write more.

I really like the start of this story - a new take on HG/SS and a believable and strong plot. I want to know what will eventually happen to Wizarding society! say say its your best story yet

I know this is a departure for you, but it's very good so far. You've taken the key fact that fueled the marriage challenge -- a declining popuon -on -- and shaped it into a completely different but just as intriguing plot. I've always seen Snape as innately curious (he was forever tailing the Mauraders around, after allo tho this characterization of him seems fitting, especially since you're hinting that he's interested in peeling away more than the mystery around her. This I'm-not-going-to-take-it Hermione also comes across as spot-on.

Concrit -- it doesn't seem in character for the Weasleys to turn against her for two reasons: They see her as family, and, almost as importantly, they've never been afraid to take unpopular stands. I'll concede that they could mistakeningly believe that her research is false, or that the result of publicizing it would be worse than doing nothing, but even that seems somewhat un-Weasley-ish. Also, wouldn't Bill have to know a great deal of Arithmancy for his job as a curse-breaker for Gringotts? He could tell 'em she's right. (And where's Dumbledore in allthisthis?) It would be easier to see Fudge in the bad-guy role here ... or perhaps some other ministry person. (Hey -- Percy!)

But despite that gripe, I really like this story. Really! Keep writing.

I am so glad that you updated so . L. Love the fic.
You answered my questions from the last chapter... I think.
Shame on Ron and Harry. She stood by them for years, they should have backed her up. For God's sake, it's Hermione. As if Hermione would be wrong with her arithmancy findings. AS IF!
How will Severus do in muggle London? And what did he hope he would have time for with Hermione? (I really can guess that one.)
    Cheers dearie!

Good plot! I love it when someone comes up with something different. I have a sneaky suspicion and I shouldn't put it down, but does Hermione come up with some type of marriage law?

Oh, I like it! I read the first chapter you posted on your lj, and then I found you here! I'm glad that there is the second chapter here as well, because I like it even more now that I've read it. I like the way they both let their mouths go before realizing what was said (He inviting her to dinner, her telling him she feels sexy in her new outfit). It's funny, but serious at the same time.

I'm wondering what is for dessert!

Or should I say who? hehe

Interesting-- I am looking forward to seeing what Hermione is planning to do. She means to rescue the Wizarding world, doesn't she? and make a glorious mess with Luna's help while she's at it? Nice bravado from her. She still has her integrity, it sounds like, and once she's decidded to keep hold of that, there is nothing lto lto lose.
I like Snas chs characterization: he is acerbic, but not over the top nasty.

I am really entranced with this story. From Hermione's weary explanation of the difference between Arithmantic predictions and Divination (I have had to clear up similar misconceptions about accounting and finance being the same thing, but that's a different story) to her "to thine own self be true" attitude to Severus's logical but not dispassionate response to her situation, your characterizations fit neatly in what we know or could easily postulate of their canonical personalities.

    Huh?

Translation -- Your Hermione and Severus are talking and acting the way I would expect them to, given the facts of the story. Good job, especially since the plot is an interesting take on the wizarding world that I don't feel like I've read (and been guilty of writing) a thousand times before. It's a refreshing, well executed start!
