The first few chapters I found difficult, but when the story seemed to start and lead some where, it became much better.

Oh my god, what a fantastic story. I loved it how you got into the psychology of both of the characters. This must have taken an incredible amount of research as well. I can't say I'm totally happy with the ending, I really really really wanted the needfire to give Snape back his magic or something like that, but I guess that wouldn't be true to the story. Maybe you could write a sequel?

I am touched beyond words. Thank you for such a beautiful story, for the thought behind it, and the time you gave to write it.

I have the inescapable feeling that chapter 35, too, has been corrupted. 'Tis very short and ends abruptly. Please check it out, if you will. The story is _wonderful_!

There are so many superlatives to use for this complex piece of work... but I shall just stick with heartrending and important. This is an important work for several reasons, all of which I'm sure are clear, but let me also say that Needfire is as painful to read as it is beautiful. It is akin to 'Schindler's List' or 'To Kill a Mockingbird' (or any number of other pieces of work that resonate in one's soul... I simply choose to name a couple of popular choices). This is a must-read, must-see telling of a tale which compels our hearts and minds and demands our attention. Bravo to you both for your dedication and integrity in giving body and substance to the deeper, inner workings of your Severus and Hermione. They are all too human and all too wounded to ignore... and far too sympathetic for anyone not to root for them to find peace, health and wholeness. That they are able to do so... in the end, together, is joy itself.

In a purely technical note... you might find that chapter 9 and 10 have several corruptions as well and may want to re-load them.

Help! I'm reading your lovely and dark story from the beginning for the first time, but some of your chapters have been corrupted by some AFF problems, it seems. I love your story and want to finish reading it, but there is only half of Chapter 8 and I don't want to skip it! Oh woe, oh woe, oh woe!

P.S. Did I mention that I love your story?

I don't get it. How can Hermione be 16 if she's in her seventh year? We know her birthday is 19th September (according to J.K. Rowling), she turned 12 right at the beginning of PS, 13 in CoS etc. so she will turn 18 at the start of her seventh year. Sorry, I only just started reading this story, I guess you'll explain it later. Did she start Hogwarts early because she's so clever? And even if she was only 16, why would people think that was icky? It's perfectly legal to have sex at 16 in Britain - admittedly not with one's teacher, but still! Sorry again, I bet this has been pointed out in reviews already. I will get on with reading now!

Needfire is very well written and a deep, touching story. For the most part, I really like it, but one thing continues to bother me. According to JKR, Hermione would turn 18 right at the beginning of her 7th year. She is one of the oldest in her class, not the youngest. She was 16 for most of 5th year.
