June - Hermione's dad hitting the floor was the thump she heard on her way down the stairs.
Shacklebolt brought Hermione into admitting as Lucius brought Molly. No, Lucius isn't the killer.

Everyone - hope this and the next chapter clears a few things up - i'm not too good at cliffhangers yet.

Ch 20 - well, I sure hope you update soon, as I am unclear about this chapter. Hermione's father was elsewhere? The killer didn't kill Hermione instantly but killed her mother - why? Why not kill Hermione too? Lucius and Harry shot hexes at the person who tried to hex Molly (the body on the floor) - is this the same person who killed Jane Granger? What was Lucius doing at the Snape house, and why didn't the Snape wards work against the intruder? How did Lucius know that Hermione was injured - is Lucius the killer who is trying to look like a hero? I'm wary about this Lucius...

Wonderfull story. I just love it. Can't wait till the next chapter is up. Professor Snape is my favorite caracter and matched with Molly weasley is quite refreshing.

Ch 19 - omigosh, Severus goes from bachelor to super-Dad and Grandfather so quickly! He seems to be doing well with the adjustment. Now a French daughter.... "She followed me home, can I keep her?" - too cute! Thanks for keeping Hermione under the Lucius-radar.

The Christmas dinner scene was so sweet it's giving me cavities. Are you may be setting up a Harry/Gabrielle pairing? You've made Gabrielle older than canon but I presume a similar event with the merman still occurred and that she still has a bad case of hero worship. If that is the case, I see a problem and I also have a related pet peeve. The problem is that Gabrielle still doesn't actually know Harry as a person. Other than whatever Fleur has told her, Gabrielle has little knowledge of Harry beyond what is generally known about him and Harry probably knows little about her other than that she's Fleur's sister. I don't see that Harry and Gabrielle would necessarily be compatible. Also, you've stated that Harry wants a woman who likes him for himself, who would like him even if he wasn't THE Harry Potter. Given Ron's reaction to Fleur in GoF, maybe you're setting up a Ron/Gabrielle pairing. That would be unusual, but you've shown that you can make the unusual fairly plausible.
My pet peeve is all the Harry/X stories where X is pregnant by someone else but St. Harry saves the day, expresses his love for her, and they live happily ever after. If he loved X and she had been raped (Does the wizarding world have a morning after potion? One wouldn't think so from HP fanfiction.) I think he would support her decision whether abortion, adoption, or keeping the child and would marry her regardless. But why does Harry always forgive or overlook when the child is from consensual sex with some other man? I find this behavior particularly irritating in more than a few Harry/Ginny stories where Harry is treated like a spare tire, to be used only in case of emergency. It's certainly no flaw in his character if, like many if not most men, he generally restricts his romantic interests to women who aren't pregnant.

PS - re JJ's question - JJ, you're like me - we read so much fanfic that we can get confused sometimes, especially all the Marriage Law fics. You might be thinking about Kassandra's story "The Laws of Love" - Ch 6 has Harry's fiancee Melanie in the hospital, after she gets attacked by Slytherins (and possibly made sterile) because they don't like her being Harry's fiancee. That story is on Potionsmaster; I don't think it's here on AFF.

Ch 18 - nice dinner! What, no chocolate for dessert? Maybe next chapter? Poor Gabrielle, not even getting her sister's letters all this time and getting disowned from her family. Did Molly make herself a sweater? Thanks for updating!

JJ - I'm a little confused as to who you mean here- "And Harry's girl? You left her beaten and possibly sterile, but despite time moving forward, we don't know anything else?!?! Please don't keep us in suspense!"

The only one who is sterile is Remus's wife, known in the story as Felicity. Harry introduced them, and she has been seen in several chapters.(i.e. wedding, shower, Christmas dinner). I'm going to introduce Harry to his girl soon, though! I hope this clears things up.

I'm enjoying your christmas scene very much. Snape having fun doing family things he never got to do is great! I don't mean to be rude, but what about the rest of the gang? And Harry's girl? You left her beaten and possibly sterile, but despite time moving forward, we don't know anything else?!?! Please don't keep us in suspense!

Ch 17 - lovely Christmas! I'm glad Severus finally has a nice holiday. Will Draco be seeing Ginny over the hols? Did Severus buy gifts for his sister and niece and Lupin as welll? Thanks for the new chapter! (and thanks for keeping Hermione below the Lucius-radar.... Hermione as Draco's stepmom, and Hermione as Ginny's mother-in-law - too strange!)

Ch 16 - very nice to see Severus getting along so well with everyone. Poor Percy; he was nice enough to warn his mom about the Death Eater proposal, then he feels he has to propose to Rosmerta just 'cuz he got drunk and was carried up to her empty bed. You've got a thing for interesting couples with a big age difference! Quite unique. And thanks again for keeping Hermione below the Lucius-radar.
