I forgot to mention a few things. First, I was wondering how Harry dealt with things like facial hair. He must have it, did he assume that all women shaved their faces on a daily basis like he did? He's not a eunuch is he? Which leads me to the second thing I wanted to mention. This story, Harry in particular, reminded me of "Cry to Heaven" by Anne Rice. With Harry being so tall and dressed as a woman and everything. Anyway, good job. :)

    Another very nice story.
I hope that Harry/Harriet will have the life he/she has always wanted. And Snape too, he seemed to fit into the role of father quite natually. I was hoping that they would ask the Dursleys if they could take Drusilla with them, but it turned out they didn't need to.
I hope you've got more stories up your sleeve. :)

Goodness gracious, it seems like ages since I first read this story. I realise you posted it on Kardasi's site, but I read it on some HP Yahoo!Group. I even saved this fic on my PC since Feb '04!

I'm glad you posted on this site 'coz the other sources aren't that easily accessible, you know with passwords and what nots.

Wow! What a great idea to place this in the 1800's, no magic except fate and characters roughly in sync with canon, sort of....

Loved the way Harriet was brought up, not knowing she was a he - (*snickers* - bathes in the dark....)

So glad there wasn't a Lucius/Severus thing going on, just sex. Would have been nice to read some of that.....

Figures the Dursley men were useless, can't even put on a decent funeral, no less take care of a small child - well written.

Thank you so very much for this fic, great work!

You know, I quite enjoyed this. It was well written, well thought out... consistent in every angle. Auntie admits, she was a bit puzzled at first at "Harriet," but I kept reading and, well, there Harry was! Interesting to read a story without magic being used, and yet, it's still magical. I enjoyed following your process, and can't wait to read more of your stuff. Thank you!

Another well-executed piece. The complete alternate-universe setting had me as a reader wondering who was going to turn up next, and in what guise. The complete focus upon Harry and Severus, with only marginal input from other characters, carried it off, for me. I am not especially fond of the use of these characters in a non-magical setting, but I did not automatically dismiss it. You can thank Blackbird for that. Had I not read it first, I wouldn't have enjoyed The Perfect Wife nearly so much. From a psychological point of view, I find myself wondering why Severus, given his preferences, did not set off for some distant city with a more permissive culture (for example, Paris) or go underground, as must have been the only real option for most homosexuals of that era. After all, moving to Paris as an expatriot required money, and the working man couldn't just up and do so without having to take less than respectable work. A vicious circle. No wonder most of them ended up as Lucius, married and bekindered and meeting their men friends on the side. (At least, that's what we assume. It isn't as if there are a lot of statistics.)

Wow! Great story! Keep up the good work! I had a suspicion that "Girl!Harriett" was actually "Guy!Harry". (Minerva should have been sorted into Slytherin in this one! Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. :-)

That was a beautiful story...do you ever wonder how much of that really ocurred. Maybe that was one reason people were so fanatical about being covered head to toe. The legnths one goes to at times is asounding. Anyway, beautiful...
