Oh! how sad! Please don't abandon this. I want a happy ending!!! Pretty please? How selfless of him to let her think he doesn't care so she can be free to go to that job. How stupid of him to not realize how hurt she will be, and how unhappy as well!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! omg i don't know why but i seriously almost cried right at the end there!! i hope this is one of those stories where they meet back up and get back together and she finds out that he was going to propose that night! cuz otherwise i don't know if i can keep reading if it doesn't end happy like that!
