No, Dippet does not regret what he allowed happen to Tom. He was only kind enough to him in that last chapter because Dippet still views him as trustworthy despite being aware of Dumbledore's qualms. Dippet is convinced of Riddle's honesty just as it says in canon. The canon sentence is when Voldemort at 18 asked to teach DADA, Dumbledore advised Dippet against it and Dumbledore said Dippet was convinced of Tom Riddle's honesty at that point. In Dippet's mind this is his favortie pupil and he does agree that he hopes the boy Riddle will get an award, but that exchange in the last chapter did not indicate any misgivings about yesterday evening. When Tom Riddle was caned in place of detention, Dippet did not change his mind over it being an appropriate action, yet he does not look forward to the possibility of it happening again. When Dippet said in the last chapter that he doesn't want Riddle getting detention for being out after hours, he was alluding to the fact that he would have to find some other way to punish Tom to prevent it going on his record. Maybe I will mention that point in the fic more directly....but thanks for review Sheherazade, I'm very grateful and always excited when I see you've reviewed.

Dippet regrets his decision now, then. Tom is well on the way to his evil career - it's a shame they couldn't work out what happened to the girl at St Mungo's.

So I'm looking forward to the next tale of Tom - a DH era fic will be exciting, I'm sure; I can't wait to see the interaction between LV and all the Death Eater characters...(and did I mention I'm quite a Snape fan?;-)).

Riddle doesn't leave anything to chance. Great attention to detail with all the spells and precautions.

    Thanks for the review Sheherazade!

Obliviating Celeste definitely occured and was used to wipte out virtually their entire relationship. But Riddle, being good at this was cautious not to wipe all her memory. In other words, she won't be like what happened to Lockhart.

There is one more chapter with a little bit more disturbing things and a fair ending coming soon.

I agree Voldemort has shown in canon that he tortures for pleasure, and I also think he is not a virgin in canon. I believe he decided to have sex as he reached puberty around his third year at 13 is when I think some of his victims became sexual ones (perhaps males as well, not meaning Voldemort's gay, but another opportunity to dominate someone).

Just as well he obliviated Celeste. Can you imagine the post-traumatic stress?

Very imaginative including the snake like that (though as a minor point, pythons are non-venomous, so I don't think it would be able to strike as such). This was another shocking, compelling chapter.

I don't think it would be possible to exaggerate Voldemort's evil, would it? That seems like an odd thing to say. The guy is completely conscienceless and without any human values at all - evil incarnate, in other words. He would torture for pleasure; indeed, he is shown doing it in canon. This all makes sense to me.

Is there any more to the story or has it reached its climax (no pun intended!)?

Wow, more very intense scenes. Your description of Tom's Legilimency was amazing. Absolutely harrowing, but very true to what we know of his character, and stylishly written. I guess there is going to be blood and gore coming up - eek!

Hi, good to see you back.

Wow, the Cruciatus Curse as foreplay! That's harsh! Poor Celeste. You write a very convincing young Voldemort; I'm sure he would have been exactly like this.

Wow, Pensieve Person, that was a very powerful chapter. You have a talent for gothic horror with that Dark Arts erotica book, I think; it figures that somebody like Voldemort would find torture and dismemberment arousing. Thankfully for Celeste he doesn't know the spells! Tom is great to have as a character because you get to explore the darkest corners of your imagination. I'm on tenterhooks for the next chapter now...eeek!

Nice spooky ambience in the secret passageway there....I'm looking forward to your forthcoming lemons now that the scene is set. I think Celeste might be in for a shock.

Ah, so Dumbledore regrets it now. I wonder how it will affect the way he is with Tom. And I kind of fear for Celeste...I think she is going to bear the brunt of Tom's rage. Cornflakes with bacon and milk though? That is the breakfast of Dark Lords!;-)

Thanks for the review Sheherazade...I just planned most of what will happen between Tom/Celeste and it's really steamy...The ending is going to be freakin ironic. It seemed like in the beginning like all this was gonna be was my own fantasy of Riddle getting in trouble...but it's starting to turn really dark and not where I expected. This is what happens when I write TMR...I swear I'm channeling his essence.

I think you capture the thoughts going through Tom's mind afterwards really well - a mixture of anger, wounded pride and desire to turn the situation to his advantage. Is Celeste going to find out? And who is going to feel the force of Tom's rage? My vote goes to Slughorn, but I'll wait and see... I like your angle of showing Tom's 'human' side. After all, he is still more or less a child. One wonders if he could have been turned from his eventual destiny, if he had been handled with more care at school.

Yes, I think you're right, Dumbledore made a huge miscalculation there. Tom is never going to let it lie, is he?

yeah, but you've gotta understand where Dumbledore is coming from. He did not act that dumb either. He knows how Tom Riddle is and how Riddle is no where near that of a normal child. He's actually a profoundly gifted, yet sadistic kid. Dumbledore knows that and Dumbledore unfortunately acted impulsively. He made a mistake and we know he's only human and can do that. He thought, that teaching Tom through that harsh discipline, might force such a disturbed boy as he is to conform, but as soon as it was over he saw quite the opposite and he regrets what he did. Dumbledore would not have done that to any other student at Hogwarts though, he only did it to the one he considers the worst threat to society.
