Wow. I love this. Bit sad, yes. But very well written. Well dont. I'm pleased that Severus got the happy ending he truly deserves. I can't believe you've gotten so many on the fence reviews though...just doesn't make sense.

Oh, and to gateq_fairy~ er...what do you mean, removing reviews. From what I can tell, the author has kept all of her reviews, both bad and good. However, its a bit sad that you review a story twice to basically put the author down. How mature, indeed.

Again, well done with this. I think this is a new fave. SS/HG story.

Write more stories soon..you've got a new fan for sure!! XD

I'm divided about this story, not because I don't like it -- I do -- I felt sad at the end that it was so close to canon, and I loathed the canon ending. Having said that, you write a nice story, well thought out, well written (and it's definitely SS/HG) and even more so you followed canon and you gave Snape a happy ending, which is more than JKR did. Well, keeping him alive was the only twist on canon. Well done.

Thank you for this. It is the ending he so deserved and that all Snape (oops, Prince) devotees wished for him. Good job.

Thank you all for the various comments, they are all thought-provoking.

I thought, rather than answer every reviewer individually, that I'd just save time by putting this in the "review" page.

What I had in mind when writing this were the choices we make in life. Nowhere have I ever read of any fics where wizards/witches willingly give up their magic (although there are a some where they are either forced into giving it up or else go to extraordinary lengths to keep it) and I wondered what would make a character like Snape want to willingly go and live amongst Muggles. This is the fic I came up with.

As one reviewer wrote, I feel he's in character due to the fact that he's always operated within the shadows, so faking his own death would, I believe, be something he *might* do. Personally, I don't think so, but this *is* just fanfic, and now that JKR's finished with the series, we can pretty well let our imaginations roam free!

Personally I like to keep my stuff as canon as possible: we KNOW from canon that Hermione married Ron (I know, I know, not my ship either, but some fans love it!) we know that she had a baby daughter (Rose, read the "Nineteen years later" portion of Deathly Hallows), and we saw Severus Snape die. I decided to use those canon "facts" and build a story around it.

I must admit, the reviews to this story have gotten some interesting comments! I understand that this fanfic may not be to everyone's taste, although I have to disagree that it doesn't "belong" in HG/SS, as one comment stated. The two main protagonists, after all, ARE HG/SS, whether or not they are in a romantic relationship having hot smex is beside the point, IMHO. One of my other recent fanfics, "The Tribute" may be more to people's taste; it's also posted on this site, and looks at how Harry gets Snape's portrait to be accepted in the Headmaster's office.

Thanks again for all the comments! They make for interesting reading.

I read the reviews other people wrote and I have to say, it's the author's prerogative to write a story with her own interpretation. About Severus Snape's domninance... he is certainly aggressive but I wouldn't say that in the real HP series, that he is a leader. In the books, he is always the spy, the second in command, he loved Lily from a distance. Though his importance is great, nobody knew until the end of the series. So I kind of like that in this particular story, he got a simple happy life.
All characters are often as complex and simple as everyone else.
I mean, I love the stories on AFF that have Snape portrayed as this dominant male, but it's not fully correct. Just a fantasy. Either way, good story. Loved it :) But it really doesn't belong in Snape/Hermione.

I guess I don't want to put my email address or name here because my review is going to look bitchy. I enjoyed the general idea of Severus being found alive by the child-incubator-woman (Hermione) I guess for a one-shot, your storyline was thought out pretty well, you had Severus in as much character as you could with the way you've altered his life, but I don't think Severus would have cast aside magic like that. Magic made him a more powerful and imposing figure, so I couldn't see him tossing it away like he did... Hermione? I fail to see how she could have ever married Ronald, let alone sleep with him and become pregnant, but cannon is as cannon does.

About that woman that Severus married... I couldn't see it happening. His character is possessive/Dominant, I could see him being able to take care of a woman who had previously been married, but with children? I don't think so.

I guess the general idea of the one-shot was good, but if you were a bit more in tune with the characters, I doubt you'd ever find him in that situation. He's a Slytherin, after all.

It's well written, though I detested it. The fluidity is there, the cohearence is there, everything that makes a good story is there, but I still disliked it terribly. You are a good author, the craft of the work is more than exceptional, and the flaws are few, it just was not my cup of tea. You make such a complex man appear so simple after so little time, and you conveniently throw him into the situation so that there is no possible chance of bringing forth magical heirs. I'm not bemoaning this choice for it's lack of originality or existence, but merely because I don't like it. I feel as though this is the cheaters end to solve a means. You have to comply with the fact that Hermione has married Weasley due to the canon, but cannot bare to let Severus go and thus have them meet by chance with no intent of ever really making their paths intertwine. I do so love the gratitude she shows toward him, but please no that I did not like the story. Keep up the good writing.
