Reviews for The Pureblood Coup

Well I really enjoyed your little fic, I hope you write more its a very .... disturbing perspective. You colour Voldemort immensly revolting, personally I think he wouldn't have time or be interested in sex but thats just my opinion.... Also how you depicted Lucius and Narcissa's relationship didn't seem very spot on, I guess I just can't imagine that prick being so ... loving to his wife, it just doesn't add up. But I really enjoyed how you described the take over and everything, believe it or not I was actually saddened when Scrimgeour was killed, he wasn't a bad guy really.... Also, I was wondering why you made Arthur call that Lestrange fellow a "Pimp" because it doesn't really make much sense, unless there's a hidden inuenndo or something? All in all it's good so far, the whole "Bella being vain thing" though doesn't seem like her, she's too insane to worry about what her hair looks like lol but that raping scene with her and Lucius well..... *laughs* thats definitely her. I'd say your fic is like observing a train wreck. A very precise, distubingly wrong, yet very realistic train wreck. In a good way though..... :) I could actually picture this happening in another reality somewhere....

Ugh, those Death Eaters are gross. I'm glad Arthur rescued Ginny just in time (though of course Bellatrix will have a go later).

I wasn't sure when you said Rodolphus hadn't slept with Bellatrix whether he just meant that day, or ever. We never get to hear that much about Rodolphus; I always wonder if he's as bad as Bellatrix, or is he a little scared of her.

Anyway, it's great to be getting all these updates. I can hang on till your December vacation, I'm sure.

Great descriptions in this chapter - all the detail about the Burrow was very visual; you could see it. And the Death Eaters were made physically unappealing with a few well-chosen words; a rabble of malcontents who brutalise for pleasure. I liked the touch of Rookwood being a Ravenclaw; it's nice to think that not only Slytherins drew the short straw at Sorting.

I loved the thoughts of Voldemort flying over London in this chapter - the dark mark filling with the blood of Muggles and leaking into the sky was a powerful image, as well as him being a vulture. We get under his skin and see what it is that he is aiming for.

Looking forward to the Death Eaters versus the Order next chapter.

It's interesting to see how the coup was actually achieved, and I like Dolores Umbridge's part in it - even though she is probably Imperiused, you get the idea that she would go along with it anyway. So now we've got all the prominent Death Eaters established as prime movers in the new Ministry - but they don't realise that Percy knows what's happened.

I wonder what Voldemort's new policies are? I know we hear about some of them in DH, but I bet he added plenty of outrageous stuff to the statute book. Anyway, the scene is set and the coup a success - I look forward to the next chapter.

I really liked that idea of a Legilimens blade - Snape was lucky Voldemort never used one on him! Interesting that Voldemort can be so focused that he misses important details, like Percy being in the room. His weakness in the end was that his eye came off the ball because he was too self-involved and obsessed to see the bigger picture.

I know 'The Wall' (and most of Pink Floyd's albums); I agree it fits right into the context here.

Ooh, exciting; the drama is building. I love reading about all Voldemort's powers and I'm looking forward to seeing how this unfolds - it is only really touched on in Book 7, so there is so much to play with. Fun!

This is all so incredibly humiliating to Lucius - this must be the germination of his disillusionment with the Dark Side. It's all very well giving your house over to Lord Voldemort, but not when he insists on degrading you into the bargain.

I wonder if the Veelas are going to be worked into the plot? I'm intrigued by them.

Bad luck with the accidental erasure - ouch!

Aha, so Lucius has a back-up wand. That could come in handy. Bellatrix really is completely crazy, but I think Lucius and Narcissa should watch how they talk to her. She wouldn't think twice about telling tales on them to Voldemort.

Hope your next chapter doesn't disappear!

Yes. I think Bellatrix is also a true sadist like Voldemort. I also think the only other psychopath in canon is Bellatrix. She is the second most evil person in the Harry Potter series. Glad you thought my writing was good, Sheherazade. And the cannibalism will only be with Greyback...rest assured Voldemort and the Death Eaters won't be eating muggles for hor d'oeuvres! I do think Voldemort could have became a cannibal, if he had grown up like Lecter did. But he did not. Voldemort would object to eating muggle flesh only because his Death Eaters would think it uncivilized and too disgusted to do it...but I do think Voldemort would try it if they were not around...okay enough rambling. Thanks for reading.

Blimey, what is Bellatrix like?! Well...like a violent sexual sadist, of course.

I liked how Voldemort's voice was 'like a cacophony, like an explosive detonating' - good image. His wrath was really well described.

Eeek! @ cannibalism though! (Mind you, everyone loves Hannibal Lecter, don't they?)

Sheherazade: Glad you like to see a kinder Lucius. But he was partially motivated by his jealous rage over Voldemort planning to exercise his dominion over his wife, which Lucius views as his property like in the old days when men thought of their wives as the person they owned.

Lucius was surprisingly sweet there - but I can just hear him saying 'little flower'; in fact, I have him saying that in a future chapter of a fic I've got up at the moment. I think Narcissa is self-absorbed and thoughtless rather than evil per se, as well as being completely taken up with Draco, so that definitely rings true with me.

Also, I secretly like the idea of Lucius having a softer side, much as I adore him being a bastard, so I enjoyed that little scene.

Characterisation in this is superb - I like the way Bellatrix tries to change Voldemort's mind, not out of concern or an effort to protect her younger sister, but because she is worried about her own position of influence being usurped. She is magnificently obsessive and self-centred.

Then Voldemort cuts her right down to size - LOL! Though I think she's going to want to get back at Narcissa for that.

Thanks for clearing that up about the Veela for me; I wasn't sure where they stood in the Pureblood pecking order :-).

No wonder Lucius and Narcissa look so worn out in DH - especially Narcissa! Do Purebloods look down on Veela then? Are they considered half-breeds?

This is all building up gradually to high drama. I'm intrigued to know what goes down in Malfoy Manor before the final events of Book 7.
