So now we're left to wonder whether the knickers and their attendant DNA will overrule the evidence that SHOULD exonerate our anti-hero! Nice twist... just please don't let this have a tragic ending, ok?

I am still transported by your writing. It is beautiful. There are other descriptives, but in the end it is the same. It moves me passionately. It fills me will dread and hope and light and joy and suspense and compassion. It makes me want to wax as poetical and lyrical as you do. It makes me wish for the same kind of grace that your writing possesses.Simply put, thank you.

And I would have to remember the word and how to even pronounce it before anyone was impressed by my verbal skills, love.

This was a great chapter. I think that even if Kingsley does connect Lucius to the book "Faim", he should still release Lucius from custody because there is no evidence that Lucius committed any crime. I look forward to reading more.

Hermione is still a little divided between her new relationship and her old friends!Understandable!

I particularly enjoyed Harry's thoughts and perceptions on Hermione, Ginny and Ron!
Was this your way to make us realize that things wont be easy for Hermione? She knows him better than anyone. But will she be able to keep his friendship? Somehow i don't think that that is a possibility! Harry may eventually accept that she is with Lucius, but i don't see him understanding or even trying to accept that relationship. The Weasleys wont be much help either.

    Lucius and Narcissa... "Finally

Too many lemons??? Blasphemy! Especially when they are so well-written and actually serve to advance the plot, rather than lemon for lemons sake! Well, I guess not everyone shares my tastes for lemonade. *sighs*

Thank you for the nice long chapter! I am so glad Lucius is going to be cleared. I loved the interaction with Smythe and Ron, the latter is such a total jackass. I can't wait for Ron to discover the nature of Hermione's relationship with Lucius, that should be explosive!

Beautifully written, especially the fragments from Faim, those were very eloquent. Lovely, as always!

And here we go again - tears.

    Very, very well done!

I am so glad that Narcissa is not as much of a shallow airhead as she sometimes appears to be. Maybe it would do all of them good if she could get herself to go to the mind healer a few times. To get closure as a family.

Ron is just ... Ron. I hope he won't mess up the investigation, but something tells me that he will not be able to shut his big mouth until he hears the truth he doesn't want to hear.

I hope Lucius and Hermione can get back together soon, she is as important to his well being as the medicine, and obviously he to hers as well.

    Wonderful chapter!

Wonderful, wonderful chapter. I was laughing (in the best way) all the way through - at Narcissa's misjudgement of the likelihood of Lucius writing a book; at your letting the air out of the potential cliffhanger at the end of the last chapter by having Ron and Harry discover nothing at The Last House; at the banter between Tiresias and Hermione; at Harry's estimation of Lucius' innocence (and Hermione's penchant for 'lost causes': out of the mouths of babes...); at Draco OMG buying The Book!

I'm sorry I didn't manage to review the last chapter - you're just too quick for me! ;) Between that and this, there have been a number of interesting revelations - as you said, some of my questions/concerns have been amply answered. (I'm still hoping we hear more about Lucius' state of mind when he approached Hermione in the bookshop, but I can wait.) I particularly liked the deeper view you gave us of Narcissa. The familiarity in their relationship gave it authenticity, particularly Lucius' visceral reaction to her as the mother of his son. And yes, he definitely should have said something to her about the curse before now! I can see how he'd be insulted that she doubted his word, but he's also shown he can understand why the circumstances led her to think he was seeing someone else. Evidently his reawakened sense of priorities did not include his wife (or even the mother of his son). But I guess he was depressed, and when nothing seems to matter, nothing is worth the effort.

So, will we get to see Narcissa hooking up with a hunky Muggleborn lad, now?

    Now, a few more questions:
I was curious about Lucius being classified a 'Person of Interest', as it's not a UK Muggle legal term, and I've never heard it in the context of North America either, though I have less experience of there. Is it (and its implications) something you created? Or does it analagous to the Muggle law of a different country? Could you elaborate a little on what it implies? You're saying that because they officially suspect him, he can go home (but can't leave), but that until he's an official suspect they have to keep him in custody? I suppose that's because they can't insist he stays around if they let him go unless they have a formal reason for making the request?

I was also rather amazed that the bank manager in Switzerland honoured a UK Auror's warrant (of which I liked the detail of the taboo-reinforced copyright). I thought the whole point of Swiss banks is that they refused to divulge that sort of information (though, alas, that is also something of which I have no experience). And doesn't the goblin dominance of the wizarding financial system give it some independence from wizard legal authorities? Even the Gringotts accounts go by number rather than name.

Still, given that the manager did honour the warrant, it looks as if Aloysius Pound then confronted Netherwood. I'm wondering whether he has any ulterior motive beyond playing literary detective, and whether whatever he did triggered Lucius' precautions, and, if so, whether there will be any sign of those to cast suspicion back to Lucius.

I found Draco's final thought a little jarring - somehow I can't quite imagine him referring to Lucius in that way. I suppose 'old bastard' is a term of affection of sorts, but it feels... toothless, somehow. Is that how Draco sees Lucius now, as damaged and past-it? I suppose the revelation of his illness might have that affect, but given their history I'm surprised he feels that flippant. Or was that a defence mechanism he adopted during their estrangement?

Didn't anything in 'Faim' spark recognition? Lucius described at least one scene from Draco's childhood, after all.

I assume, from the passage quoted to be near the end of the book, that Lucius found his anchor in Voldemort, but that that process isn't covered in 'Faim' - and that therefore there's little or no indication in Faim that it was written by a Death Eater? (Though the reviews indicated that it was, IIRC.) That would explain the relative lack of hue and cry as the pool of potential authors would be that much wider.

I'm curious to see now what will happen with the books. Will Lucius get 'Soif' published? Will he even want to, if the writing is cathartic enough? I hope so, after all that work. But if 'Soif' does deal with Lucius' Death Eater years, then that would surely intensify the official pressure to identify the author, particularly given the murder of the publisher. Part of me would like the secret to remain secret, to keep Lucius from the glare of publicity. But I'm also curious to see how society at large would react to knowing who the author was. Would it give more understanding, to know the identity of 'he', or would knowing it was Lucius enable people to use their prejudices to put it in a nice safe pigeon-hole?

Whichever way you take it, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.

What a wonderful update! Love it that Draco and Narcissa are now on the same page with regard to Lucius, and that there's a viable suspect in the Netherwood murder (have I told you I love the name you've picked for the editor? Well, I do! ). Can't wait for the rest to play out. :D

Brilliant stuff, yet again! This story never gets old for me. I love the way you've gradually revealed things about each character, especially in the past few installments with Draco and Narcissa. Thanks for the latest monster chapter--are you sure it was 20 pages? I read it so fast! I can only attribute that to your gifted writing; I can't stop myslf from devouring each chapter as it becomes available. ;D

Still brilliant. I'm glad to see that all the Malfoys are getting things resolved. Great job on Draco and his thawing towards Lucius. And Narcissa was a pleasant surprise, especially the bit about what she saw with Andromeda and the Mind Healer.
