I would like to say something profound and meaningful but really at this moment my only thought is that Ron is an asshole. Understandibly he is upset about his missing child but really he is too much of a hot head and does not care about anyboddy elses feelings. I have to wonder now if he is not behind all this. OK, that may be my anger speaking since I like Neville but grrrrr Ron makes me so mad.

Darn woman just when I thought the story was getting fluffy.

I can not believe that Neville is guilty, even if I understand Ron's point of view. I fear that despite all the talk that Al is 'only a child', something was triggered in him when he saw Severus, and he either convinced Hugo to run away with him, or staged their kidnapping some other way. Riddle was dangerous even as a child, after all, and it is the only way they were able to get around Neville. Another explanation would be that Neville and Ginny staged the whole thing to keep Al save, but why would they involve Hugo and kill Kreacher? No, I believe Al is responsible.

While Neville is definitely in a seriously bad spot, his immediate safety as not at issue, whereas obviously the children's safety *is* a serious concern. And yet Hermione's focus of concern at the moment seems to be more for Neville than for her own son, so in that regard I have to agree with Ron and I understand that part of his anger. While I obviously would assume that Ron's got it wrong about Neville, I can see that he'd be very impatient with Hermione's focus on helping Neville, with no apparent consideration about what possible part Neville, the secret keeper, could have played in the kidnapping.

Well, this might not be the side I should be on, but I'm more convinced that Ron is right. Anything is possible as far as Ron being affected by the dust, or simply is reacting out of anger (probably reason to be honest), but I really do support only his character in how events have unfolded. I had forgotten those comments that Neville made, but I'm pretty sure ALL of them were made when the dust was still around (with Harry). So I can't laugh here at the hypocripsy. Even though I didn't like them when they were first made. I'm more convinced that Neville had nothing to do with the kidnapping, although I'm wondering at if he was telling the truth at the end of that story. I do hope that the suppose-to-be-dead Volemort will stop tearing couples and families apart, so I don't want Ron and Hermione to separate, or Al to have to die...or otherwise. I hope Ginny is able to reveal something more. I would have thought Ron was the culprit with how he has been acting, but with this reaction, I hope everything works out! Nice job. :)

PS this is a good way to deal with the Glamour issue. Severus is too preoccupied to freak about his scars being on show, which will get him over the initial block, and he and Harry should be able to deal with it as a side issue without getting too fraught about it, because they have a lot else on their minds and they are working together to fight the Dust, Harry is seeing the Dust as an external and alien thing which has taken his son, not as part of himself, and he's not going to see Al as evil whatever the Dust makes him do, so that will help him not to see himself as evil because of what the Dust made him do, and neither of them is going to be seeing Snape as a victim or a slave because he's going to be a competent officer holding Harry together in a crisis... etc..

Oh God!! Ron and Hermione are divorcing...no! They were really the only bright spot...like a central family for everyone. This is awful! I understand Ron's frustration, but I hope he cools down. Neville is looking rather guilty isn't he? But I refuse to believe it until I hear it from his mouth that he blatantly is responsible. I understand why he did all of the things he did, what choice really did he have considering who Harry was at the time. The court room interrogation was intense and excellently executed. Got me on the edge of my seat. Please let them find the children soon....but I'm still not sure what they will do with Al once they find him. He may have to be taken care of, or exorcised, if that's possible. lol. I hope Sev and Harry can bond and get through this and it won't drive a wedge between them the way it has Ron and Hermione. Great update Em.

@59...OOoooo the tension between Ron and Hermione can be cut with a knife...all over Neville's loyalty...this is getting so argghh! I wonder who took the children and if they're alright. OH geez....I know Ron is gonna blame everyone for this, hopefully they'll get them back safely....Ginny oblivated? How convenient..why don't I trust that wench....and no Neville must be innocent, he's Neville! I smell something fishy!

@58, OH NO!! Neville is really in a bad position. I understand Ron's pain but he needs to chill out, but he wouldn't be Ron if he did....but I think I side with Ron on this one, I wouldn't have my son staying with that little freak either, we already seen what Harry is capable of with a little dust in him. lol. Oh geez..sorry, that wasn't funny : ) Great chapter...this is getting very suspenseful.

Hmm. Well, I can't believe Neville is guilty, because if he was, I can't see him concealing it. He would own up. And if he's that good at Occlumency then nobody read the secret out of his mind. And he can't have been forced to do something by Al, and then forgotten it, because he's immune to Dust.

I suppose somebody might use some sort of memory spell on him to make him give them the secret, or kidnap the children, and then forget that he had done so. If Ron is telling the truth that he didn't tell the Ministry what Neville said about Harry and the Dust, that suggests that somebody has been into either Neville's, Ron's, Hermione's or Severus's memory and then covered their tracks, and that somebody is at, or talks to, the Ministry. Or was there a portrait or a house-elf present during those conversations, who might spill the beans?

If somebody is getting access to people's memories, they might plant a suggestion in the mind of Hugo or of somebody else they knew would soon be visiting Ginny, and programme them to perform the kidnap. Or some one of Ginny's other guests might have done it off their own bat. Who visits Ginny, other than Neville and Hugo? Does Luna? George? Could George or Percy still be under the influence of the first wave of Dust, without knowing it, and have been programmed to recognise the Dust in Al and take him to the Death Eaters?

Yikes! Bit of a shocker about Al. Hope Neville isn't going to be cast as Bad Guy. I've been enjoying how you've written him in this story so much - what with being Ginny's secret keeper he's probably the only one who really understands the thin line Severus had to walk. Tenterhooks, tenterhooks... those are the things you have left me on... ;-)

Ch36: Hugo's just brilliant. Loved the 'you've got your own cesspool!' amazement and joy. (laughs helplessly)

Just finished book 1 - talk about your emotional rollercoasters. The scariest bit was when Harry kidnapped Hugo. Yikes! The last two chapters were definitely what was needed, up to and including Severus' deservedly cynical take on 'All You Need is Love". Will anyone ever tell Hagrid about his part in events? I hope not for his sake - there's enough guilt and angst. ;-)
