I am not quite sure why you decided to re-write the last chapter, but I have to say the first writing of it was best. You accomplished so much with this chapter, but it doesn't flow with the lines of all the others. So, I have to ask, what is going on? Can I help in any way? I love your talent and want always to support it, in anyway I can.

So much love, and yet again so much sadness, as Snape admits that he would put up with _anything_ for love.

But then, we already knew that.

Author's Note: Thank you all for your reviews! Some quick comments:

linagabriev: Yes: the revelation in ch. 44 is unsettling, and can really be a set up for a relationship laden with dysfunction and resentment. You are right, thought, a contract is not too far in the future. Very good guess!

SoftObsidian74: thank you so much for your ongoing reviews and help with the chapters. I don't think I would have been able to write Book 2 without your help.

whitehound : Harry does have SOME common sense, and he really does want Severus to feel empowered and loved... but that said, Harry is also known to be prone to making bad judgment calls (or at the very least, dubious ones!

    moma, wicca2star11 : Thank you!

Jean Lamb: Well, it's trickly. The way the slave-bond works in this story, it's a persuasive force, but not coercive. It doesn't nullify free will, although it does make some choices more difficult. It can't ensure happiness, and it doesn't force the two to love each other. Harry loves Severus all on his own (in this story, he loved him briefly before the bond was ever formed between them

Snape is, of course, basically a better person than Harry, though he doesn't know it (not that Harry is bad, but he can be very callous in canon). Neville's anger is in character - we see him try to beat up Draco for making a remark which could be construed as mocking his parents, even though I don't think Draco meant it that way.

I didn't find this chapter as convincing as usual, though. To me, having them bringing up the horrible events of the past and then getting back on an even keel just by hugging each other doesn't "feel right".

I'm glad for this happiness. And now that Severus is going to meet Neville I look forward to possibly hearing about what happened between him and Luna. With everyone so happy, I can only think this twist you spoke of earlier has something to do with Neville, as he is the one who holds onto most of the bitterness. I'm glad for Severus's and Harry's relationship. It is very sweet and touching. Wonderful job. I forgot to comment on it earlier, but that line in the previous chapter of Harry calling Severus "horrible" amused me. Even now. lol

In a way, this chapter is happy, but in a way it's sad, too--the slave bond has completely taken over both of them. Neither will know what their love might have been like without it. If Harry had killed himself, Snape would have died, too (Dumbledore was _so_ considerate, wasn't he?). And Snape does have a life of emotional and physical trauma to heal from, as does Harry. The slave bond will ensure their happiness, or so I hope, but at the cost of free will. Is there true love without free will? Snape doesn't run towards love, he _surrenders_. It may be better than the alternative, but the whole set up that made it necessary is just another chess play beyond the grave. One can only hope that Dumbles is roasting in hell, or stuck for eternity in Kings Cross listening to that baby cry.

@45 Hmmm..YUM. Love that Sev got to be in control like that...and that Harry undressed in front of him like that...it was like the physical manifestation of what he's been trying to do ever since Sev came back into his life. "here I am, for you". Really sexy scene there...I love how easily affected Harry is by Sev's touch. His reaction is cute and so Harry! Can wait to see how Sev reacts when the tables are turned ::evil grin::

@44. I love this chapter because they're both opening up to each other in ways they've really longed to do but probably didn't know about. I think maybe Harry knew but Sev had been denying it for a long time. I love Harry especially here because he's so caring and thoughtful and trying to make Sev feel at home with him despite all that's happened. He's still the Master but his submissive approach is just endearing and powerful in a entirely different way. I love the way Sev finally says what's really going on...and I love that no matter how awkward and scary it gets for either one of them, they remain themselves and keep the humour/snarky banter going...great writing Emily.

So sorry that I don't review every chapter...but I just wanted to let you know that I await every chapter with eagerness and this is the most fascinating HP fanfic I've ever read. The way you portray the characters is most amazing. You make their relationship sound very believable and they stay "in character" at the same time, bravo!
But what I like most about this fic is the subtle and refined development of the storyline (sadly, most other fanfics lack it).
I love you for writing this.
