I was more comfortable with the Cockatrice chapter than the chapter before, because Snape's reactions to Harry seemed a little more in keeping with what one would expect upon their first real visit of any length in so long and with so much pain between them. Earlier, I felt Snape seemed too comfortable and accepting of Harry's physical expressions of care and affection, and was surprised that Harry would immediately approach Snape with any physical touch.

I like the Cockatrice idea and the opportunities for the two men to perhaps learn more about each other from their attempts to keep a "clutch of cockatrice".

Beautiful work. If the comfort is even half as building and complex as the hurt- this is an instant classic. I love your dialogue and the emotional richness and maturity of your story-telling. I love your exploration of the aftermath of war. Thanks for writing this now causing me reflect fondly on JKR again, if only for inspiring your greatness here. We have been somewhat estranged she and I since book seven.

Yes - it would help Harry too, to be able to put some of it right, so lomng as he doesn't overdo it. He's not a bad lad, Harry - he has a nasty streak at times but it tends to be thoughtless rather than intentionally vicious, and his intentions are generally sound.

To be honest, it makes me a bit uneasy that Harry and Severus get along so well. I realize that it was not really Harry who hurt Severus, and that Severus loves Harry, but I still think Severus deals to easily with Harrys touches after he avoided him for all this time. And Harry presumes a bit much touching him in the first place.

Hey Emily, this chapter was wonderful. I hope they stay together and the void can be filled. And this story is my most favourite fanfic :-)

Oh....oh oh oh. I am so excited about this! You really portray Severus's emotions perfectly, and Harry is just so tragic and beautiful here. There's definitely a strong undercurrent of need, desire, and passion waiting to be unleased here....although what kind remains to be seen, I have no doubt that these two need to get to it ASAP. I love their conversation, the flow, and the unspoken way they seem to read each other. This is just so well written, I can feel it. Another awesome chapter Emily ...can wait to see where you take these two. Geez, and Harry cutting himself like that...wow. He's not fooling anyone about why he kept those scars though ;)

Oh my, I love how you wrote this chapter out. it really touched my heart when Harry said that he hasnt forgotten about Severus but hoped that Severus has forgotten him. The last part too, it really made me go oh. What will Severus say to him after that decleration about not missing Ginny caused he missed Severus so much more

Wow. You would think that Severus would be missing Harry more than Harry missing Severus... or could be that Severus is stubborn as hell (which he is) and that Harry feels so much for others (which he does).
    Great chapter!
