Incidentally, I can't see Hermione interpreting the idea that a slave could be whipped by their master and then compelled to seek healing from the same hand as being designed to force a reconciliation. Remember that she always interprets the house-elves' bond in the worst possible way, even though that sometimes causes her to misunderstand the situation totally (as with Winky, who held huge influence over her human family, and killed both her masters through her own negligence).

Hermione would undoubtedly see this buisness about a slave having to be healed by the master as a refinement of abject humiliation and cruelty designed to break the slave's spirit. This bizarre idea about people being whipped and having to say "thank you" for it is an American idea which nearly all Britons would regard as deeply sick and revolting.

Good for Hermione. Just because he can see that she's manipulating him for his own good, doesn't mean it doesn't still work.

Som of the moments of kindness he experienced from Dust!Harry were Tom messing with his head; some of them were real!Harry breaking through for a moment. The trick is to know which. I certainly had the impression that the Harry who carefully unpicked the knots of cramp from Snape's back was real!Harry.

And a major part of his soul-injury is to be humiliated and made to feel worthless and helpless, so the mercy he needs from Harry isn't just a pat on the head and a bit of kindness but a huge ego-boost. He'll need Harry's respect and admiration, not just his pity - although I suppose he'll need the kindness too, to compensate for having been subjected to so much cruelty. It takes skill, when dealing with somebody who's been fractured by abuse, to be sympathetic and supportive without undermining their confidence further by making them feel like a Poor Thing. I've done it so many times I can do it in my sleep, but I'm not sure how well Harry will do.

It is very late at night, but I'm wallowing in utter angst immersion. Amazingly, and slightly disturbingly, delicious is this feeling you have created through the exquisite pain expressed in your story. Therefore, my lengthy review of Hugo in all his glory will wait until the sun returns to my dot on the planet. But it will come; you have been warned. It's your punishment for inspiring me to wax philosophical in the middle of the night. I try to tell myself it'll be a reward, and it's meant to, so just keep that in mind when you get to it. Maybe it will allow you to bestow upon my ramblings indulgence, rather than annoyance.

linagabriev: The absolution Severus received at King's Cross was for murdering Dumbledore. However, nothing healed the emotional injuries he received from Tom/Harry hybrid. And b/c of the slave-bond (no matter how relaxed, or benign) Severus is still not fully "free" and only Harry can bring about that emotional healing.

moma: No, the bond wasn't transferred to Al. It can't be, not until Al is of age. (about 14 or so). Al cried for another reason.

Did Harry not give Snape absolution of the soul at King's Cross? Is that what Snape needs? Needs to heal the wounds of his soul? I'm a bit confused on that, although I otherwise has guessed what the content of his dreams were. Hugo has a wand? I thought he was only 8... Maybe I didn't understand that bit with the books, although it would figure that he would know that spell. I'm really glad for Hermione all of a sudden, even though before I was chastising her character for being so weak and reliant on Snape when Harry was Tom. Looking forward to more as always.

I'm so used to get in adultff and look for your AMAZING story by now, that I certainly hope it never ends....It's the best distraction of my diary duties at this moment, and believe me ,being a teacher and mother of two it's VERY MUCH distressing.(Sorry my english is rather poor, 'cause i'm not native speaking you know. By the way, thanks for the link you've sent me, for taking the time to e-mail me 3 times before i get it right) This fic is wonderful.
Question:Has Harry passed the bond to Al?. That is why he cries when he saw Severus?...
Well i`'s almost 12 pm here in my cuontry and my little one must sleep... so
'til next time Hoping it's tomorrow jejeje...

That last scene was such an "Aww!" moment.
I would have thought that Severus would have been dreaming about the horrors he had endured. Interesting that you did the unexpected... yet again.
I love your writing! So amazing!

Always when I start reading your stories, I'm disgusted by Harry's cruelty and I think he is totally out of character and I can't possibly keep on reading this. But then I am again fascinated by your writing style, and I know that you never, not once, wrote Harry truly out of character - you always have an believable explanation in the end. It's like a good horror movie, really, you want to look away the whole time, but you just can't. Basically, what I want to say is that you are a marvellous writer, and I love you for challenging me each time. I think you can not possibly turn the story around, make it believable - but yes, you can.

    For chapter 33-35

So I am guessing that book two will mostly concentrate on Severus this time. Damn I just hope Harry somehow helps him and what was up with Al running away from severus.

Some of the chapters were really heavy... but I suppose I should have known before *G*

Nevertheless I enjoyed reading the FF very much. :) I must say I hate violance, but when there is still hope that things will change and it's written this great, then it's different... somehow. O.o So now I'm glad that Harry is himself again. I hadn't thought he would choose the way back to life this time... I think I wouldn't have. But perhaps the spot between life and death is more peaceful than I can imagine. ^^

Now I hope there will truly be less violant chapters. ^^ I think I had enough of violence for the next weeks *G*
You know, it's really sick that you're able to write something like this. But nevertheless I adore you for being able to think of such brutal things and write them down in such way. :)

I'm quite sure I will enjoy the second book :)
