"As for Snape, Rowling did let me down a bit in the last book. Great the story finally got out and I knew he was too damaged to live through to the end, what with everything he endured, but a death by snake?! Come on, he was a greatly skilled wizard in the light and dark arts and he had his wand on him. If his head could be caught behind that shield, surely he could do *something*. I had issues with that book anyway, so I won't start."

I have big issues with that book, the biggest one being the ridiculous way he died. Death by a being bitten by a snake in a bubble, come on now. Not only was he a highly skilled wizard, he was one of the best (if not the best) Potions Masters in the Wizarding world and he was a very experienced spy who kept his cover to the end. A man like that would never face 'He Who I Find Most Tedious and Tiresome' without having a universal antidote to poisons, a bezoar, and an antivenin to Nagini's venom concealed on him someplace. From the beginning of HBP on I would imagine he was never without them. It would have been much more realistic and true to the character to have him prepared like that, but she showed him such total disrespect that I lost my respect for her.

Maybe I should just rewrite the whole series... lol

    Maybe you should!

I'm really pleased to see the romance pop it's head up in this chapter, and even more pleased to see it start to heat up so fast. I also liked that there was no mention of a twinkle when Dumbledore's head popped up in the floo. I'll bet Machiavelli never twinkled.

I'm glad Draco saw everything, that's the only way he will ever understand and change his attitude.

    Re: Trickie Woo
I've definitely got the classroom experience to match Cassie's background. That deceitful moms story is straight out of my days as an aide when I first started. Draco's definitely got a long road ahead of him and a lot of conditioning to grow out of. Not to mention a huge nasty shock to get over whatwith witnessing his dad's bloody and vengeful death. As for Snape, Rowling did let me down a bit in the last book. Great the story finally got out and I knew he was too damaged to live through to the end, what with everything he endured, but a death by snake?! Come on, he was a greatly skilled wizard in the light and dark arts and he had his wand on him. If his head could be caught behind that shield, surely he could do *something*. I had issues with that book anyway, so I won't start. And Lily I can KIND of see him carrying remorse for, but I agree. Had she really been the first best friend he made, and the person who "saw good in those who could not see it in themselves," she would have forgiven him. But then, we would have had a very different story. Maybe I should just rewrite the whole series... lol

Hope you like the rest of it as much. I tried to "grow-up" the series a bit and (hopefully) give Snape a worthy woman.

I'm quite behind on my reading apparently. I'm intrigued by the first chapter and will definitely read further soon. Thanks for sharing, Pitt.

I agree with you, he really needs an adult female who is his equal in maturity and intellect to truly understand him. Of course it really helps that Cassie has read the books and knows his story. I really like what she said to him about retribution and redemption; it's too bad Rowling didn't say something similar in DH.

Her ego could not see that her id had written him as the moral center of the whole saga. He was the only truly moral character in the books; he confessed his sins, repented them and spent the rest of his life atoning for them. Most of what happened was not his fault, but Dumbledore played on his guilt like a pianist playing Chopin. I feel his obsession with Lily wasn't really because he still loved her, it was because he was guilt driven.

St Lily was no saint, if she had been she would have accepted his apology and remained friends with him. If she had he might not have taken the Dark Mark and though he didn't like it he would have come to accept her relationship with James and gone on with his life and found a worthier woman of his own.

I was ready to go to bed when I saw you had posted 2 more chapters, so I've stayed up another half hour to read them. You must be a teacher yourself, you describe Cassie's classroom experiences so realistically.

I'm torn between sympathy for Draco and disgust at his attitude. I hope he soons sees the error of his prejudices.

Re Tricky Woo: I agree the SS/HG are icky if she's underaged and never really made sense in how they could be compatible other than their intelligence, and imo Sev needs an equal and a truer balance--someone who understands him. And no way Lump goes to Hagrid. Lump = therapy for both of them, as pets often are. Don't get me wrong, he and Fang do hang out hiking their legs in the Forbidden Forest and being mutually spooked by some of the creatures there. They are both "ruddy cowards."

Good, I'm pleased to see a Severus/OFC story since there has been a real dearth of them the last week or two on all the fan fic archives I check for stories. Since I only read Snape stories and I hate the SS/HG pairing it hasn't left me much to read except for an occasionl update to stories I've been following.

Maybe she should do what everybody else in Potter fan fic does with their pets, let Hagrid look after Lump.

Some of the descriptions of events in the first chapter made me queasy, but after that I became intrigued with the story. You write well and have added something original to the plot of someone who has read the books and then mysteriously finds herself in Harry Potter's world. You haven't made it clear for me yet, but I hope this is a Snape/OFC story. He's my favorite character and that's my favorite pairing.
