hey there. love the story! btw; in britain kindergarten is called nursery class or more recently changed to foundation stage. a teaching aide is a teaching assistant and teachers qualify by doing a teaching degree(BEd) or teacher training college post graduate certificate of education. (PGCE) otherwise your 'britspeak' seems fine. good luck with coming chapters, i will be waiting.

    Chapter 15:

His first birthday party, how sad.

I knew he was going to propose, and what a proposal it was. I loved his stilted way of asking her.

Dumbledore never does anything without a reason, does he? The Elder wand is now Harry's and Voldemort will not be it's master once again.

I love how she expressed her worries to him and he did absolutely nothing to allay them. Men.

    Chapter 16:

Good battle sequences. I enjoyed it from an almost omnipotent POV, as both Tonks and Iris witnessed it. And none of my favorite characters died. Thank you.

    Epilogue:

Narcissa and Lockhart. She does go for the peacocks in the crowd, doesn't she?

Severus sipping Pina Coladas, yes. In a tropical shirt, no, unless it's black flowers on charcoal grey.

Good job. I enjoyed your story.

    Chapter 12:

Good observation about Severus' feelings for Lily. I think anyone, knowing his past would have to ask the same thing.

Beautiful end to the chapter, but poor Lump.

    Chapter 13:

Of course snape has to be the one to secure the Horcrux. Dumbledore is good at using him like that, and damn anyone that might get hurt in the process.

Draco's turnaround is quite nice, especially since it got him away from that noxious weed, Pansy Parkinson.

    Chapter 14:

Sweetness. I love that the story started out with an unwanted pregnancy and is now ending up with a wanted one.

    Chapter 9:

Somehow I got off on my chapter count. Just to let you know, I adored chapter 8.

I see that Snape is dodging our Muggle Studies teacher. I think he may be feeling more for her than he is comfortable expressing.

Well, I knew Draco had to find out, but what a brutal way for him to do it. Legilimens would be a horrible way to discover what a horrible rotter his father is. I hope things can get better for them.

    Chapter 10:

Damn that Dumbledore and his untimely arrivals.

    Chapter 11:

So Severus and Iris have the same idea about Harry. Hmmm... I hope Harry can learn something from Iris, and Snape too.

The fight between Malfoy and Nott was great, especially since it got Severus to send flowers.

    Chapters 1-5:

Sorry, I set out to review each chapter then got so caught up in the story that I forgot. So far, I like the setup between Iris and Severus. (I think that's the pairing.) He can't hid anything from her because she already knows so much. I am intrigued by the whole idea that Severus wouldn't be able to hid behind a flurry of robes and a sneer. Even though I'm a Lucius fan, I also liked that Draco and Narcissa were saved, without Draco having to take the Dark Mark. I wonder how this will affect the rest of the story.

I love Lump and his lumpy little name. I could almost see him as I read about him. Good job in portraying the dog in so few words. I liked that.

The Malfoy Manor scene was harrowing and I'm glad you didn't dwell too much on the atrocities committed. And thank you for not bowing to current political considerations and making that poor woman have Lucius' child. It wouldn't be good for her or the child for that to happen.

    Chapter 6:

I knew I would love Lump. He's a good dog to pee on Dawlish. I also was wondering if he would get into any mischeif, I guess I got my answer.

Aw, Severus walking his rounds with Lump... that was sweet.

    Chapter 7:

"Both of us were used and manipulated by greedy, black-hearted men for their own ends and both of us have been left to scrape up the pieces. Whether we deserved it or not, and mind you, neither of us did, we are both damaged. But Severus, neither of us are broken. And before you protest at my supposed na

"All we can do is hope that Lockhart is sterile. I wouldn't want him to breed, would you?" Please no. Narcissa wouldn't want to ruin her figure; having Draco was bad enough.

"I loved the irony of the Shrieking Shack becoming their dream house." That was pure inspiration, that was. I also thought it was only right that Remus should help repair some of his damage. And Sev's tropical vacation was inspired too. I can just picture the hooked nose, slathered with sunscreen. *hee*

You do live in the prettiest part of MD. I got to stay closer to Salisbury most of the time with it's low flatness and stinky chickens. I would give my left pinky toe to be at Ocean City or Rehoboth right about now though.

I did get the pic finally and replied. Blast Lycos, I had actually updated my address on the account but for some reason that did not carry over to the domain emails getting forwarded. *sigh*

"I didn't know you were from MD, no. We were stationed at Aberdeen for a couple of years and I actually wound up graduating from Salisbury. Plus I had an aunt who lived in Indianhead, so we pretty much covered one side of the bay to the other. It's a cool place, Maryland. Loads better than Tejas, which I am stuck in currently."

I live about 30 miles NW of Baltimore in horse breeding country. We moved here 8 years ago and I think it's the most beautiful part of Maryland. My husband was assigned to APG for 3 1/2 years. We bought a condo in Edgewood and lived there during his assignment.

"Now what's this about a picture of Snape in a Hawaiian shirt?" It's a picture I found online and downloaded as wallpaper for my desktop. I've been using it for about a year now. I sent it to the email address on the John Cusack website the link on your profile took me to.

"I enjoyed Narcissa'a drunk scene, but I enjoyed even more the thought of her eloping with Gilderoy Lockhart. I'll bet that made Lucius turn even faster in his grave."

I had such fun writing about her. I figured she needed another blonde who was full of himself, soo...why not? For the good of Wizarding England, I did have them leave. I also considered having her enter a 12-step program, but now that she's deep in wine country why bother.

Luna is such a fun little space cadet, but I never did mention how she got on.

That stupid house system was severely dated, and practically made Hogwarts a caste system with Slytherin and Gryffindor battling for supremacy. Just caught me as silly, so yes, it had to go.

Now what's this about a picture of Snape in a Hawaiian shirt?

I guess there had to be some causualties on their side, and Moody was a logical one to go. I din't know much about Hestia except that she was in the order. Did Hannah Abbot end up marrying Neville? I did miss one of my favorite students though, like I do for Neville, I have a soft spot for Luna.

There is a logical explanation to why she didn't ahow up till OotP. The house system kept us from knowing many of the students. She was a Ravenclaw and the book was written from a Gryffindor viewpoint. She became their closest friend outside of Gryffindor. Until she appeared the only Ravenclaw we know anything about was Cho and she was boring as all get out. We knew a few Hufflepuffs like Ernie McMillan, Susan Bones and Cedric Diggory; but only enough to know they were sorted into Hufflepuff. We did get to know Slytherins better, we know Draco's personality and have a good idea of what Pansy, Vincent Crabbe, and gregory Goyle are like personality wise.

I'm glad you had Minerva abolish the sorting and the house system. That was the root cause of the wizarding world's problems. Just because a stupid hat decides someone belongs in Slytherin that person was branded as dark and evil for the rest of their life. The house system encouraged Gryffindor and Slytherin to be prejudiced against each other.

I can't remember if I told you I am from Maryland and live there now in a rural area full of horse farms. I have sent you the perfect picture of Snape in a Hawaiian shirt.

    Update is, well...up!

And how funny, I'm an Army brat, but we've never stayed anywhere remotely interesting. All stateside, and all in the South. The step-dad went to Korea a couple of times, but he was too close to the parallel for family to go with him. I did like Maryland though. Still have friends there.

And I can't ever think of bangers and mash without wanting to giggle. It sounds like a euphemism. :)

Nah... she'll get plenty of romance, he's a highly skilled and thoughtful lover now that he has someone who returns his love. You're right, Cassie has an update coming. I want to find out how her pregnancy ends; you know the baby's gender and what they name it.

I've had Irish sausages for breakfast when we've stayed there. They were good, but not as good as the Yorkshire sausage. I was spoiled by the Yorkshire sausage when we lived in Herriot Country years ago when my husband was stationed at a US Army base near Harrogate. Yorkshire bangers and mash were my favorite meal at Betty's Cafe.

I spent 5 years in Germany with him, but I never developed a taste for wursts. Bratwurst smelled heavenly, but it was tasteless and some of the others were made from ingredients I'd never have eaten had I known they were in the sausage.

Oui, bien sur. There's not a thing wrong with your French/Cajun. I'll get heartburn pretty easily too, but sometimes you just got to have it! We had the Irish bangers and mash version...several years ago now. I just remember being told I was getting a sausage only to bite into it and go, "where's the spices?" Wasn't at all what I was used to, just a different taste.

I'm glad you liked the proposal. Knowing that it's Snape that's probably all the romance she'll get for the next ten years or so...nah.

It's an interesting story that you sent the link to...I do like the idea of a resurrection or loophole of some kind that saves him. I know it's WIP, so I'm feeling a real confrontation between wall or real Snape and Dumbledore's portrait. About time.

As for my ending, I wanted it to be more of an all-out battle, which it should have been. I wanted a real sense of fighting as opposed to a sort of Home Alone version of the thing. That's why I had Trelawney throwing fireballs instead of crystal balls and Neville tossing hexes in lieu of plants. Please. Nevermind that she had the house elves sounding like they came straight out of "Gremlins" waving kitchen knives, sounding like ankle biters instead of the gifted magical creatures that they are. And yes, since they were more prepared I gave them the benefit of far fewer casualties.

I will absolutely be doing an epilogue, as there are still things to say. Cassie has an update coming.

Your ending was so much better than JKR's was and I found your battle to be much more exciting because you detailed what each person was doing. Plus you had Death Eaters dying, in her books there were many from the side of the light who died, but the only bad guys who died were Bellatrix, Peter Pettigrew, Nagini, and, of course, 'He Who I Found Most Tedious and Tiresome'; and you even managed to redeem Pettigrew a bit. It's been a wonderful story, are you going to post an epilogue?

My French, or rather my Cajun, is better than I thought; my guess was that it meant 'Let the good times roll!' and when I looked it up I was right. Anyway, I'm sure they both had a wonderful night. I wouldn't do any better than Severus with the Cajun food, my acid reflux problems cn really be triggered by spicy foods and I completely inderstand what he was going through. Also, I have yet to come across a sausage that can match a Yorkshire banger, I just love bangers and mash.

That was a lovely proposal. I had this story confused with another I am reading and I was thinking they were already engaged.

I think that, had he not already been gravely ill with cancer, Richard Harris would have been a marvelously dark Dumbledore and would have done a gradual transition from twinkling old man to someone with questionable motives in PoA and then gotten darker with each film.

Since your opinion of Dumbledore is the same as mine, I think you will appreciate this story, especially the last chapter. It's only 5 chapters long and give you a lot to think about. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3683077/1/Giving_Extras
