Another marvellous chapter! Severus love for his daugther was priceless, and the crib Argus had made for the little one was such a fantastic little detail that makes your stories extra special!

My dear - oh yeah, it's realistic all right - I almost felt those wonderful, non-epidural-assisted cramps as I read this. Well done indeed!

I don't want your review board to become a blog for re-living labor, but in a nutshell, one of my epidurals didn't take (and I notice Hermione didn't even seem to have the option!). I was only in real, pushing labor, for two kids (not twins) put together, for about 1/2 an hour, so I have absolutely no room to complain at all, and I bloodly well know it, but those final-stage cramps really do feel like Carol Burnett described: take your bottom lip, and pull it up over your head....

Good work on making Severus so very nervous. Again, I was a little surprised that no one, not even the potions master, offered or suggested anything for the pain. But hey, it's your universe, sister. Severus wouldn't have been so affected had she been serene and relaxed, like you are when the epidural *does* take.

    Cheers and ouch and OBAMA!

ya pregnancy's and labours never go how there supposed too. i had my first on at 28 weeks. 19 hours of labour and a emergency c section later he was born. my second one i did better. he was born at 36 weeks and he was 3 hours from beginning to end. fast labour sucks. sounds kind of like hermione's. hurts like hell and push forever. i think you did a wonderful job on this chapter. you tell it like it is with all the pain and joy. can't wait to see what you do next.

You poor thing (re: your pregnancy experiences). *big hug* My family has a history of being broodmares *snicker*; I'm one of 5 and my mother is third youngest of 15. Yes, I said fifteen, and they all have children. Family gatherings involve renting camping compounds with cabins and lodges.

I was priveledged to be the one called to take my younger sister to the hospital when her labor started on her second child. We were there for about 30 minutes waiting for the room to be set up and she walked the halls. We were in the room for about 5 minutes when the nurse said to 'get the warming table' because that baby was coming now. The table arrived, the baby arrived, then the doctor arrived in time for the clean-up. No time for drugs or anything. One advantage to a quick birth was that she was not exhausted after and very alert. Had me call her hubby and tell him that there was no rush to drive up from his base because he'd already missed it. Just wow.

Anywho, I'm just loving this adorable story and I am impressed with your writing style. Very good, polished. You cover all your angles, give plenty of information so that I had no questions about 'why' this or 'what' that. (Except for cerclage, I had to look that one up!) I'm adoring your Snape, who seems blindsided at a whole new world of feeling that Hermione has brought him...with no regrets or thoughts of appearing 'weak' by showing them. No, with his usual determined bravery, he's faced them, embraced them and amazingly wealded them (feelings, that is). Wonderful job.

I'm very curious about this new fic you've been alluding to.

My dear, there is no such thing as a 'normal' pregnancy or labor. It's truly a case of to each their own. Though I had mind pretty easy minus the high break. And that was just annoying not a true problem. Great ch btw. When I was reading about the nurse cleaning up the after birth I couldn't help thinking "why does no one write about the mucus plug?" That would be funny to read. Hermione getting up to waddle to the bathroom and not realizing she passed the mucus plug and Severus seeing it. LOL
