I can see him voting for either of them, however why I don't think he'd vote for McCain is Sarah Palin. Palin strikes me as someone Wizards would want to avoid at all costs. Snape appreciates intelligence which I don't think Palin has. I do think though that he would not care, but very nice twist in the story.

As an American and a Republican I say Thank You. That was just the thing I needed to read. And to be honest...it is so very true.

Yep, I can see the slogan now..."Vote for SNAPE, Because America needs more SNARK!" Thank you sooo much. I really needed a good laugh. Hubby has been in the hospital having surgery this week. Been back & forth to the hospital...1 hr, 45 min trip, each way. It's been hell so I really needed cheering up.
This election really was about change. Used to be, when a baby was born the parents look upon him with wonder and think of how much possibility lay in that child's future. "Our son could end up as president!" Well, at least that's how it was if the baby was a white male. Now that future is open to EVERYONE.
As a nation we had a lot to decide: old or young, white or black, pro-life prude or or pro choice to extremes. I didn't care about color...even though I'm white and surrounded by bigots- my husband is one of them! (I'm glad he's gonna be hopped up on pain meds when he finds out who won. He's been threatening to move to Mexico or Canada if Obama won.)
I'll admit age did matter to me. After all, Ronald Reagan was said to have been showing signs of his Alzheimer's towards the end of his presidency. But it was other things that bothered me. His "war hero" status. I've nothing against veterans. But a man does not suffer 5 years of torture and not come out of it without some psychological trauma. Maybe he's good at hiding it, or maybe others have looked the other way beacause of his courageous past. Or maybe he hasn't held a position stressful enough to bring it out. Would presidency have made him crack? I sure as hell didn't wanna find out! Like I told my hubby, my fathers a veteran and I'd be damned if I would ever vote HIM for anything! I saw a video of McCain on CNN where he couldn't answer a simple question. 'If health insurance can be forced to cover Viagra shouldn't they also be forced to cover birth control?' He was speechless! Perhaps he doesn't believe in BC and didn't want to say it? Well if that's what he believes, then viagra shouldn't be covered unless the couple is trying to conceive, by his logic. Hey, why should only the men get to "do it" for fun. TOO OLD FASHIONED!! It's been proven that even dolphins mate for enjoyment- at times when the female cannot conceive. And we all know animals know when they're fertile. They also know when they're pregnant too. Gee, I guess animals are smarter than us, huh? ;P In an interview in 2006 Palin said she would not allow her child to ever have an abortion, even in the instance of RAPE. I've also seen proof first hand that abstinence-only sex-ed programs DO NOT work! Next thing you know, we'd be hearing about Onanism and banning the "M" word! While abortion is a moral and ethical topic, the vast majority of people see no wrong doing in preventing conception. Speaking of religion (which I have nothing against), I'm tired of politicians incorporating lines from prayers in their speeches. Do that at home, not on TV! It's ok to have beliefs, but don't try to cram them down MY throat! I believe firmly in the separation of church and state. Gods, I hope it's not true, but I heard Obama is connected to an abortion hospital in Chicago that does 3rd trimester abortions for no other reason than the girl changed her mind at the last minute. Babies born alive and healthy are killed. I am pro-choice, but not to that extreme. Especially when there are childless couples that would to anything to be a family. Hopefully, it was just part of the mudslinging that went on. Thank the Gods we get to keep our choices.
Ugh, sorry for the soapbox. Hope I didn't offend anyone too badly.
I haven't been getting much sleep lately.

Just for fun, theres a website for a company called McCain foods. Wikipedia says: "It is not connected with the American presidential candidate John McCain, although it makes a joke in one of its advertisements about this: the advertisement reads "Why McCain should be in the White House" (they inserted the word "potatoes" in between the words "McCain" and "should".)"
I see this ad evey morning on my way to the hospital in Philly, but I didn't see it on their site. (Maybe I didn't look hard enough. I really should get a photo of that billboard tomorrow, hmm.) It's a really cute parody on American politics. They even have campain 'issues'....all potato related, of course! just remove the *'s ------> www.*mccainusaretail*.com/Default*.aspx

i think you explored this idea perfectly. i can easily see both characters defending their positions, and their simple logic explains the basic hesitation so many people had concerning this election. its over and done now, but i think we're all hoping obama (president-elect!) will turn out like harry - inexperienced but brilliant despite it. great one-shot!
