Ok this story was good but what the heck is up with that ending. Talk about a cliff hanger to end all cliff hanger.

I loved this story but that was just disappointing

I like the twist of How Severus ended up joining Tom, it is an interesting story and VERY hot. I just wish there were more chapters, you can never get too much good slash! ^_^

Oh, my, This is just a perfect jewel of a story. I do love a Snucius pairing, but this went beyond a simple slash. It is truly a love story, where two people discover a lifetime's commitment and understanding (unfortunately with the horrific future that will swallow them whole showing up at the end). It has a lot of narration, but for this tale it is just right, allowing us into both Severus' and Lucius' thoughts and feelings as those feelings slowly grow and twine together. The scenes were so realistic and emotional, leading us through the years as those two found the way they best fit together as friends and then lovers. So well done - I'm very happy to have found this lovely story!

I actually think you are completely right. I think I spent way too much time focusing on Lucius and not enough on Severus, especially regarding the mental struggle of ceding control; I kind of skipped over those years in the hopes to get to the conclusion a littler faster. I didn't want it to be too long as it's my first completed multi-chapter.

However, I am going to be reworking this story. It will end up being much longer, and I will give explanations for behaviour that was heretofore unexplained.

Also, the thing about Tom that I will try to be more explicit about, is that he really doesn't care about Lucius, he is only trying to get Severus to come to the dark side. He's using Lucius to lure/recruit Severus. He appeals to Lucius' vanity and it works flawlessly. I'll try to make that more evident.

I'll also be working on Severus' disappearing personality. I tried to show that Severus gave up control to Lucius because Lucius genuinely cares for him and respects him and actually wouldn't hurt him. Lucius is just naive, a little greedy, and just as desperate for companionship as Severus.

I imagine the new version will be done in a couple days, and will be more dialogue-heavy. I really hope that you come back and give it another read, because I hate to disappoint my readers, what few I have!

Thank you for the very thoughtful review.

I really loved the first chapter! Their interaction was great and believable given what we know of that time and their personalities. Especially Severus was very IC imho.
But then the witty, strong, intelligent Severus from the beginning unfortunately turned into a pathetic, mindless doormat without an ounce self-worth, independent thought or an ability to apply his fierce and superior intelligence. What a shame! It wasn't even the fact that he became sexually submissive: it was the allaround package and personality - or loss of rather - in comparison to his younger self that made me wish it had been a one shot.

Given that Lucius compared to an grown up Severus in the books clearly is less a lot less strongwilled, determined, intelligent, skilled as a wizard and even regarded less important in standing with Voldemort (aside from monetary value) and it's hard to see both Voldemort genuinely valuing Lucius of all people for his dominance and less than stellar leadership qualities and Severus desperate to yield all (little that he has) control in his life to Lucius of all people, down to literally having no say and own interest or preferences at all in choosing his alliance with the DEs beyond Lucius willing it.
