And now something I NEVER do, I never post abuse in a review but a small minded and petty creature took the name "lover" and made several inane and innacurate comments about this story and about my darling Figgy. What planet did you grow up on? Teens are idiots.. I call it hormonal stupidity, I have warned my own daughter about it since she was 6, warned her that yes, it would infect her as well, but I would point it out when she fell into that teen idiocy trap. Teen boys are enamored with their cock and balls, Hell GROWN men are just as enamored. and teen boys are just as eaten up with the need to fit in, and anything that is differant is wrong, most boys will be more than happy to pull out the olf "Faggot sign" when they meet some guy that doesnt fit into their idea of tab A fits into slot B..
And teen girls.. Dear God, can we talk about vile vicious jealose creatures? When did you last sit back and watch a click making the life of someone not "Cool enough" compleatly miseriable? Thye spread rumors, the manipulate and revile, just so they can keep up the illusion that the world revolves around themselves. In this story, Figgy has caught that teen angst and uncertainty, she opens a window that most of us only remember, but some of her readers are still dealing with on a daily basis. Lover you are wrong, I have to say it, but it's your opinion, and like ass's everyone has one, it's just that the rest of us have the good sense to keep ours clean and manageable, wish you could learn to do the same.

Jayne Elizabeth: Awwwww. I know how you feel. But on a brighter note, maybe I'll add a girl-on-girl moment in Dark Lady involving Hermione and someone. I got in a little practice at it when I wrote "A Bunny at the Burrow." It was a Ginny/Hermione moment, but I chickened out. I chickened out on a Lupin/Snape too. It's called "In the Forbidden Forest." lol. But if I include it in Dark Lady, I'll go the whole way this time. :)

lol, it was kind of like a "why does no one understand him, he's gonna save the world" cry and my friend (who hasnt read the books) was all hating on snape and I was like "no!, he saves the world, you would know that if you knew how to read!"
ack, im now fiercely loyal to snape, which is why I hate the 7th book, i feel like even J.K. got caught up in her own 'snape sucks' mentality. not my snape you bitch!!

in regards to looping of the scales, i'll just have the story end that way in my head. so whenever you finish (and get back to dark lady, lol) i'll just finish it again my way in my head. yup, and it will be fantasmic!

    lurv,
big ol' gay fat juicy ass girl

Jayne Elizabeth: You CRIED? Like "rock star" cried or like "DH sadness" cried? I can't wait to see the movie. I'll be glad for every glance of Rickman/Snape I can get. I understand the longing for Snape to turn back adult, a lot of people have asked about that, but the key point of the plot bunny to this story is that he never turns back and I think that's what sold me on it. A permanent, new beginning for him. (Where have I heard New Beginning before?) lol.

    oh, and btw, this is a response to the 'lover' comment;

i'm fat... and gay, and i think ms. figg handles her characters wonderfully. i have read almost every single story on her website, and i'll continue to read them until she stops writing them. ms. figg is the best damn writer on aff.net b/c she is so accurate, boys are that homophobic and skinny girls make fun of fat girls. the fact that she tackles these topics is courageous, too often people simply ignore problems like that. plus (and i didnt discover this until recently) she responds to her reviews, when so many other authors ignore feedback.

so yeah! stfu! >=p (lol, i couldnt resist a little immaturity!)

i know u said snape wont grow up in this, but i think that would be a good way to end the story. let me share what i have in my head

slughorn thinks he finally found the reversal potion, snape and hermione fight about it (either hermione thinks it would be goood for him or snape wants to become who he really is). eventually snape takes it, but nothing happens. bummer. later in the day snape and hermione are having a sad "i'd love you either way" shag, and snape starts to change back, mid-coitus. even though hes just transformed to his old self they keep shagging (b/c he remembers everything). then when theyre done having sex snape feels guilty, like he manipulated a student, and hermione must (once again) win him over.

yeah, i'd write it myself except i'm a shit writer, so i just read others stuff.

btw, b/c of all ur writings ms. figg, i cried every single goddamn time snape was on screen when i saw the movie yesterday. the end

a reader: I'm glad you're enjoying the story. I have a habit of putting bigotry and prejudice in a lot of my stories. Sometimes, I specifically get on the literary soapbox and attack it, but most of the time I let the readers feel the inappropriateness of it and draw their own conclusions as to whether the outlook is good or bad. My fanfic "Daddy Dearest" had my OC Andreas Mbutu slurred several times. Once he was called a "Jungle Bunny" and Mathias was very aware of the stigma of not having his father's last name and his mother not being married. It's common now, but still is stigmatized in some circles. I'm not afraid to write about those kinds of things. Maybe it's because I experienced them growing up on Long Island. But, I never felt targeted when I was slurred. I grew up in a mixed neighborhood and we'd slur the hell out of each other, then play together later. I've forgotten more slurs than most people remember. I was also skinny when I was young, but my adopted sister Dell was always big-boned. After I had my kids I plumped up nicely. lol. So I know both sides of the coin. I stayed plump and feel no pressure to try to be "little" again. I lost enough weight to assist my physical health issues, but that's it. Anyway, I'm glad you see this isn't some moral treatise here, just a fantasy story with often silly teenagers with junvenile outlooks. Thanks for commenting.

Lover are we reading the same story? You must be oversensitive. I'm fat and I feel Miss Figg has handled the issue nicely especially with Ron and Harry talking about Susan. I'm glad she put a big girl in the story. The orangutan situation is funny. I didn't think anything about gay people when I read it. I thought Harry and Ron reacted like normal het boys when they found out what Ron could do. Susan thought it was something that could help Ron. I don't agree with what you've written about Miss Figg at all. Everything she's written that's happened with everyone could really happen that way without the magic. They're teenagers. Teenagers say and do thoughtless things. So do adults. That's what makes it so realistic. I like the story.

Lover: I'm sorry you feel that way. Young males have a tendency not to be very understanding about sexual orientation, gender roles, etc. At least the young men I've been around. Actually, I was hoping to show that homosexuality is a part of nature, being that what I wrote about orangutans is true and based on research. The boys' stupid reaction is just that, stupid, juvenile reaction.

And as far as voicing all the fat girl stuff, as a fat girl myself, I feel I can write out those hateful things because I know what it's like. I think most people can tell that Susan is a wonderful person and what's being said about her is stupid, thoughtless, cruel and untrue. I'm blatantly showing the bias against larger women, and meant to do it. I hope you notice that Ron finds her beautiful.

As for my demonizing of Lavender, jealous is as jealous does. Young people can be cruel to each other. And you have to understand something about writing. What a writer writes is not what THEY personally believe, at least that's not the kind of writer I am. And I was Moslem for over 20 years before converting back to Christianity, a member of the Moorish Science Temple of America. My son's name is Ibn-Malik. Voldie as a muslim? I wouldn't write it, but it wouldn't disturb me. I'd just wonder how the author would manage to pull that one off.

I think people are free to live however they like to live, but in reality, there are prejudices, bigotry and more. I'm not about to pretend there isn't, nor am I not going to make fun of that bigotry, or show the idiocy of it. I'm sorry if you think I'm promoting it, I'm not. And I wouldn't be able to write anything if I were constantly thinking about who would be offended. Writing can be that way. If my writing offends, all I can say is put it down.

But don't assume a fantasy is my personal reality. Two of my OC HP characters are gay, one flamboyantly so, and they're fun characters and loved by a few readers.

In this story Harry and Ron are juvenile, Lavender is a jealous little cow, and that's all I'm portraying here. If you choose to think it's about more than that, it's your right to do so. I'll just agree to disagree. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I'm offended by how you've played on the fear and disgust of male homosexuality and gender ambiguity to create a lame orangutan joke. The whole joke trivializes the queer experience, and Ron and Harry's treatment of the subject re-enforces the idea that there is something "unnatural" or "sick" about men loving men. Furthermore, can you imagine how a person transitioning from male to female would feel after reading this?

I'm also sick of all the anti-fat bullshit you've loaded into these last chapters. Despite your demonization of Lavendar, you have done nothing to balance out all the hateful things said about Susan by various characters. Therefore, I must conclude that you really believe it all. Thanks for putting into words all of the unsaid things which loom over fat people everyday of their lives.

All around, I'd say you're doing a smashing job propagating intolerance. Misogyny and queerphobia, what's next a Muslim reincarnation of Voldemort!?
