I know I know I've been gone for a while, but school gave me one heck of a whirl for a while there.

I'm all caught up and I love it. Lucius and Hermione are finally opening up!!!! *Owls them a large batch of cookies* It's nice to see then actually trying to make the marriage work with out so much...one way streetness to it all.

I hope that the bit of trust Lucius has received will be returned and that both of them will be able to live in the castle without much disharmony.

Can't wait for the next chapter,

    Lady Serin

Loved it! Poor Severus! He didn't want Lucius to know what happened when he left his home! Also liked the part where Hermione helps Lucius out with his filing and they discussed their living situation when they go to Hogwarts. Looking forward to reading the next chapter!

I wonder what Snape thinks about Lucius

Chapter 19: Ah, a lovely unwinding moment in the spa, and some attempts to get to the roots of what they both want from the marriage. I don't think Lucius is going to have much luck bringing Hermione round to the Pureblood connubial model somehow. Loved his snaky apology, looking for sex, and Hermione tumbling to it.

I love that you used the word Lugubrious! That was AMAZING!

I loved the chapter as well. I am happy that Lucius and Hermione are getting on better. But they still must solve the Pureblood problem. And I want a DRACO appearance...I love DRACO!

I also love your Snape. He is a doll. I liked him saying the thing about pretending to be obliviated...that is so him...at least in your representation. Is so funny. And Poor him for being banished. Narcissa was quite right to punish him. As being mean to Lucius is unacceptable!

Glad your holidays went well. and I'm looking forward to another update of this story.

Chapter 18 - Oh, this chapter was wonderfully illuminating. You can scratch my earlier comment about not quite 'getting' Severus and Narcissa's relationship now. You have built it up perfectly and convincingly. I love their little conspiracy to make Lucius think that Snape pursued her when really it was a mutual choice - how considerate of them. And I completely see how, for Narcissa, it would be a relief to go from the emotionally labile Lucius to the stable (if curmudgeonly) Snape. You always have such penetrating insights into your characters' psyches - I think this is my favourite of many treasured aspects of your writing.

Also - loved the image of Snape and Lucius as chess pieces, always strategising against each other to get the upper hand in conversation. And the idea of the Slytherin Baiting Society was exquisite - would make a lovely premise for a one-shot, I think.

Chapters 16&17: Hermione is jealous of her forced husband's first wife - well, that says a lot! And she feels inadequate beside Narcissa - until she realises how bland and dull she is. I'm not quite getting how she and Snape have come together - I'm sure there will be more on that subject to come though. I would so love to see Snape with his onyx button at the neck of his shirt - a lovely image. I don't think I'd have been able to discuss coloured parchments in the face of that either. Poor old Lucius can't do right for doing wrong at the moment, but I think his day is coming.

I knew they'd get through it rather easily and quickly; that's the friendship they have. Plus, you write them so well that it's very much like a conversation/disagreement between any two men on the planet, minus the $50 words. lol The testing of waters by Lucius and Hermione was fun and realistic. I know they have a way to go, but I truly enjoy watching them grow together and toward one another. I can't wait until he realizes he missed the moment when he started to honestly love her because he can't remember not. Hermione on the other hand will be able to pinpoint the time, date, place and what they were each wearing. ha ha ha Thank you and Happy New Year!! HG4eva

Stayed up entirely too late catching up on reading! Marvelous work, as per your usual! Lucius seems to be slowly realizing that the world does not revolve around him. I like that they are slowly coming to terms with each other. Thanks for sharing!

I'm really looking forward to Hogwarts and reading about their home in the Headmaster chambers. And the man-bonding heart to heart ended in such a y chromosome way, I laughed! Four brothers gives me license to say you've got your conversation man-genes perfect!

I like the 'slice of life' attitude of this chapter, it has a nice feel of moving forward for them. Perhaps Lucius should ask Severus to speak to Hermione about her reluctance? Therapists are hard to come by in Wizarding Britain, it seems, and she does seems to ahve a lot of PTSD.
