Another brilliant chapter and the banter between "the old married couple" i.e. Severus and Lucius was just magical. Good to see Hermione retaliate against her table education but presumably it did not deteriorate so much as to be too embarrassing......I mean that would give us Muggles/Muggle-borns a really bad name! I think your portayal of Narcissa is absolutely spot on and that possibly she and Severus had some previous history before she was married. As she is quite opposite to Hermione in her calm demeanour, I suspect Narcissa was probably too compliant for Lucius. Hermione is a spitfire and it would appear Lucius is relishing the challenge. Though time may show that her youth and inexperience and even over-exuberance for pet projects may exhaust and wear him out. Never in the bedroom though that would be sacrilege. Oh and the good Professor....the best thing he could wear would be my bedsheets. Best wishes, Love Ali xxxxx.

I guess hugs are only slightly better than lemons so I'll live... for now :)

Well the marriage was Severus' idea in the first place, so he really shouldn't complain about being dropped into the Malfoy's marital problems :P

I know how Hermione feels... sigh...

Awww! Eastern spice isn't THAT bad.

Oooooh! I like pretty stationary. Pretty stationary is awesome! And if it's pretty and green, that's even better :)

Lucius in Regency apparel? I didn't even think of that! *Eyes beginning to glaze over* Mmm! Lucius in a cravat.

I think Snape would look awesome in Regency apparel too.

How about Snape in black leather? Snape, the head of a notorious motorcycle gang :D Oh but it would be funny to see Snape as a sarcastic and grumpy angel :)

First, MERLIN, these two need to talk, shout, scream, whatever it takes to get out some true feelings to each other. Seriously, they are completely missing the boat on this one! Sad. If just one of them slipped... sigh, they have such a long, LONG way to go. lol I loved the addition of Severus and Narcissa. They are the perfect opposites of Hermione and Lucius. Great!!

And, Severus...hmmm... I think he should let his freak flag fly and go caveman! I see his legs as a bit spindly, but I think the corded upper body would more than make up for it. :-)

    Thanks! HG4eva

I would love to see Snape dressed in a pair of faded, snug Levi's and a dark blue (but I'll allow green) silk button down shirt. Opened at the top two buttons and barefoot.

Lucius miscalculated, Hermione doesn't know what to do other than be herself, I don't see how they didn't figure she would be intimidated by Narcissa, and now the Snapes have lots of fuel to torment Lucius with.

Lucius is really self-absorbed, isn't he? He doesn't think at all about those around him, and that is what is going to be the difficult thing to overcome in his marriage. You don't embarrass your spouse by pointing out bad table manners.

A wonderful way to spend a cold, rainy day! Catching up with the Tale of the Shrew! I didn't realize I was so far behind but mmmmmmm... what a delicious way to catch up!

    Well-done, all around, dear!

I like my Snape in a collar, same way I like my Lucius. :P

I think Hermione may have found an ally in Narcissa, unexpected but an ally nonetheless. Return to Hogwarts promises to be equally interesting!

Well, they certainly misread each other in a big way. It does show that they really would probably get along if they could just iron out some communication skills. Ifelt badly for Hermione when she was comparing herself to Narcissa. Poor girl! Insecurity doens't make for a pretty anything... but I can certainly see why she would feel that way.

Chapter 17: Of course I was elated to have my favorite, Snape, appear, however the fact that he was attached to a blonde bit off fluff did rub me a bit raw. I somehow dont see him as the type to be very tolerant of a frivilous woman, in love with her or not. But, that personal issue aside...I rather enjoyed the dinner conversation. The uncomfortable aspect of it combined with the easy comfort of old friends, that feeling of being the odd man out. It was very well orchestrated, especially as I am a person who very much enjoys dialogue. I am a 'talker' no doubt about it =) silence bugs me.

Now, as for dressing Snape....leather,head to toe leather....the outfit Neo wore in the matrix appeals to me. Breeches and riding boots, loose, open white shirt akin to Mr. Darcy's outfit....The Phantom of the Opera complete with mask....and some odd part of me would love to see him in a pair of relaxed fit levis and a plain white tee......sadly I dont find him as interesting to dress as Lucius....I dont think hed go for it where Lucius's vanity makes me think he would very much enjoy being dressed up and paraded about. He would revel in the attention it brought him where Snape would brood. I think I would have to add pirate, after the fact, to my wish list for Lucius. And perhaps a suit of armor....something about all that hair draped over the shoulders of shiny armour makes me shiver a bit....

Alright...I must stop fantasizing about fictional wizards...(which oddly has taken a back seat lately to fantasies of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory...dont ask, I dont know why, I have this perverse attraction to geeks.)...and get my tookus in gear for an evening at the theater, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers...my favorite musical =)

Wonderful job, hon, thanks for pricking the old imagination.

    Happy Writing!

You did it again. Ecdysiast? If you have words like this in your vocabulary, I want you to take my GREs for me!

Lucius certainly is clueless, isn't he? Though Hermione isn't helping him out, either. I particularly liked the part about the smelly candles. Apparently, Lucius doesn't always have exquisite taste.

    Lol great chapter.

I must say Lucius is as thick headed as can be. One would think by now he would notice how frail Hermione's ego/self-esteem really is. Ah well, he'll learn. Either by Hermione breaking down and telling him or Snape blind siding him with one hell of a lecture.

I'm hope Cissy and Hermione can be friends, they seem so sweet together. (Hopeful thinking lol)

I can't wait to see who offers the olive branch in the relationship this time lol.

Perhaps Hermione lets her feelings slip?

Can't wait for the next chapter. Keep up the great work!

ch 17 - looks like the dinner was more pleasant than Hermione expected, although I wonder if Severus would help Lucius by bringing up the diamonds and the Diagon Alley store they came from yesterday. Lucius is really thick, to correct Hermione's manners in front of company -- and not just any company, but his ex-wife and Hermione's former Potions mater. He better stop correcting her when Draco shows up! Thanks for the new chapter. And I'd like to see Snapey in black leather, something like Rickman's outfit as Nottingham in Robin Hood.
