I've never read a story quite like this before. Words escape me as to how to describe my feelings but fuck - your writing is AMAZING! Every word packs a punch. The plot was very original and I could literally feel the emotions of Draco - that's how real it was to me. The battle between Astoria's personality and Draco's was really well done.
I absolutely love this story! Wonderful job!

    (Chapters 1-4)

Oh WOW! This was excellently written! Compelling and enthralling, with an original and intriguing plotline; I couldn't stop reading! McKinnon...what a sick and evil bastard, and the only thing I could have wished for was for Draco to have been able to meted out his punishment himself. You made me really feel for Draco; I was nearly in tears the first time Harry came looking for him and didn't find him, and Draco was prevented from alerting him, but I was glad that in the end Harry was able to save Draco and that they became friends. This was a dark and harrowing fic, but probably one of the best written ones I've had the pleasure of reading. Excellent work! I'll now go and have a look at anything else you've written. Really, just....bravo!

My goodness, if I'd realized this was four chapters long, I would have taken a break! I recalled that I'd never finished it for hp_darkfest and had quite forgotten the length.

This was pretty brutal. I've never liked Draco Malfoy, but it was impossible not to feel empathy for his plight. It was such a ghastly thing. McKinnon is one of the most vile characters I've ever read in the fandom, which is saying quite a lot in my penchant for darkfics.

What I really loved about this story was the way you tied Draco to Astoria. I felt like you gave me enough details that I was able to get one step ahead for every revelation: expecting they wanted to Polyjuice him into a girl, figuring out the hidden body in the shadows that first time was Greeengrass, realizing that he was Barney of the infamous Armoury shagging and knuckle chewing. It was all so bloody sad how things ended for the man. And for Draco to be able to get through his ordeal with some semblance of sanity intact was truly amazing. I think the part that really resonated with me the most was when McKinnon's abuse had gotten so bad that Draco was deep into his memory of the bells.

Lucius Malfoy being executed felt so tragic. I could believe that this would fit into Epilogue compliance; Draco forever connected to Astoria in such a remarkable way making her his wife, the early receding hairline, even, after such atrocities in his youth.

I'm glad that Harry Potter made an appearance as his saviour again, and thank you for making them friends and not lovers. Harry acted exactly as I would have imagined. Draco's responses to him upon being found seemed a little too movie-glib cliched, though, after what he'd just been put through.

    Excellent story. Fantastically descriptive.

this was an amazing story. I wish it could have lasted longer with more of what was going on with the others outside the prison.

Very well written I enjoyed every minute of it
