It is an intense read, the characterization feels rather spot on, and I am most curious to know what's going on in Snapes mind and if he's even really responsible for what he did to Harry, or if he's some how being controlled by something evil.

I like that snape is very much himself, I wonder if he sees Lily in Harry and at the same time can't bear to let her go again, because of how deeply he felt for her and having Harry, well weaker than him allows him to use his strength to his advantage and "keep" her as his own in those moments of madness?? It's incredible and frightening but oddly I like this ficcy.

Hope to read more of this story. Hope to see more chapters soon. Well done in regards to Harry's discomfort and other responses.

I agree that we should not take up Everwild's review space with this debate, but I would like to clear something up. When I said Will anything happen... well that is up to the author. I meant that 1) Will the headmaster believe him?(as much as I dislike the headmaster I hope that he believes Harry. I really hate it when no one believe him and Harry gets hurt more) 2)Will the headmaster help Snape more than Harry? This is what I meant by saying it is up to the author.

    Thanks

This has nothing to do with character preferences. My offense was not over her Snape adoration.
But I don't think Arya meant any harm in her review.
I don't think she meant any 'harm', either. She sounds young. But....that sort of thinking, that a victim of a vicious rape would be able to forgive and fall in love with their rapist...this type of thinking does no woman any favors. EVER.

I feel as if arya has not been reading the same story as the rest of us. This isn't even written as some dubious consent/rape fantasy. The author eloquently has shown us the torturous process that Harry has been putting himself through because of what happened to him. How someone could read all of that and decide that this same victim would just 'get over it' and get with their favorite character anyway....the mind boggles. It doesn't make any logical sense. Even if it is determined that Snape is not acting in his own mind, Harry would still forever connect him to his violation; it's implicit.

Will anything happen... well that is up to the author.

Well, number one, I already asked this question and the author insisted this would not become a SS-style love story, so no, I don't think anything will 'happen'. And number two, the author, once again, has gone to great lengths to vividly describe the trauma of her character in order to make sure there are no doubts about his feelings. So, really, no, I can't see how they would suddenly come out of left field and have their main character do an about face.

I appreciate that you felt the need to defend the reviewer in question, and as I pointed out, I've never called someone out on their review before, but I just found it to be really, really, really offensive. I would hope that the reviewer was simply being a bit overzealous in their enthusiasm over their favorite character/ship, whatever, but distinctions need to be made even in fiction.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. It's a touchy subject, and draws heated responses, typically. Now, I won't be taking up any more of Everwild's review space with this debate.

    To Salon_Kitty,

I understand the you don't like Harry/Snape pairs and that you are a Harry fan, I get that. But I don't think Arya meant any harm in her review. She seems to be a Snape fan. I myself am a Harry, Snape, Draco and Tom fan and I very much dislike the headmaster and Ginny. Does this make me delusional? I think not. This is not real life this is a story. I think you went a bit to far in your review of another reviewer. Now rape is never ever good or right or moral. Now in this story do I think Snape is right? no I don't. Am I happy that Harry finally told about the rape? I have very happy that he told the headmaster (as much as I dislike him). Will anything happen... well that is up to the author.

    Thank you

    To arya:

I don't think I've ever responded to a reviewer before, but your post absolutely needed to be addressed. I get that you like Snape as a character, but......your response here is very disturbing.

Ahh poor snape! Really? Perhaps Snape is being possessed/used somehow, but...Snape's an asshole. What's to like about him?

feel bad for harry but... whatever. Soooooo, you are worried about the rapist, but you shrug your shoulders in apathy over the actual victim. WOW.

Hopefully somehow harry and snape gets together.

WOW. There are no words, truly. How delusional are you? Your entire post made my skin crawl.

Well, this chapter was suitably named.

I'm still trying to process it all. I felt like I was buried in the horror as much as Harry. You did such an amazing job of articulating the shock his body is going through, along with all of the torturous doubts flooding his overwhelmed brain. It hurt, it really hurt to see how Harry was floating through his existence just barely, and reader is so caught up in his anguish that its hard to imagine him ever working through this damage. I can't tell you, though, how...proud I felt that Harry admitted what happened to him to the Headmaster and McGonagall.

What happens next will be very critical. I loved how Harry reacted to Snape in Dumbledore's office. You've made it quite obvious that Harry is showing the effects of what he's been through, that the teachers would have to be blind to not notice he's just been through a traumatic experience. Also, we're aware that Harry just came from Snape's quarters after having been violated again and carries on his person the evidence that points to his rape and the person responsible. I wonder if Madam Pomfrey will be called in for a physical exam or if Legilimens will be the course of action. I can't imagine Harry reacting well to either invasion.

I continue to be impressed by your sharp and precise account of the harrowing experience of a rape victim. Part of me feels that Harry would be a little stronger in the way he deals with this---I look to GoF and how he dealt with what happened in the graveyard as my proof--but one can certainly point out that Harry also exhibited a lot of post-trauma stress throughout OotP. Poor kid is getting it from all sides. He needs the responsible adults in his life more than ever.

Hope your computer issues are resolved soon. Dying to know what happens next.

Ahh poor snape! I feel pretty bad for his character. Gone through so much and now has probably lost a part of his mind, and doesn't even know it!!! He's gonna be horrified when he finds out what he has been doing. poor poor guy. feel bad for harry but... whatever. Snape's always been my fav character (even if he's doing something terrible, i know there's a reason behind it). Either way, story's going great and i hope it doesn't have a sad ending for snape. Hopefully somehow harry and snape gets together.
