Devilishly unfortunate all that. Merlin was a bit quick. I at least expected a potion of some sort. ;-) But I suppose now we await the letter and whether or not he chooses to act on what she'll say in the letter or not. Not all fairytales end happy, I'm afraid. But let's hope yours might.

Thank you for this chapter. I know it took me a while to post my review, but I don't have internet access all the time. I have to make do with when I am able to get it. I did not think they would go this far yet and I wonder how the Fairy Tale story let them have sex and all. Another might she get pregnant or is she on muggle birth control? On me I hope she gets pregnant. One can only hope. Next chapter please.

I have really enjoyed the fairytales, but I look forward to seeing them interact with one another as themselves. And, no, Sevvie, you didn't f*ck anything up. lol Thanks again, hon! HG4eva

I must say I was intrigued with the premise to your story and was looking forward to the adventures that Hermione and Severus would have through various fairy tales. Ultimately I felt a little disappointed with some of the versions of the tales you used. Most of the stories were what I tend to reffer as the sanitized versions of these fairy tales. Considering that this as an adult story website, the lack of darkness in several of the stories was a disappointment. I know that all of these stories have multiple versions and interpretations, but it just felt like a bit of a let down. In the first telling of Rapunzel as by the Grimm brothers, she had actually gotten impregnated by the prince before being discovered and was abandoned to the wilderness to fend for herself before the prince found her and it was at least a year after he was blinded. In the original Frog Prince, (aside from the frog originally being a king) the traditional way to break a shapeshifting curse was not a kiss but to visit some kind of violence on the enchanted animal. In the first versions she threw the frog against the wall before the spell was broken. In some other versions she actually cut off the frog's head. In Cinderella, the Sisters actually cut off parts of their feet to make the glass slipper fit and their treachery was only discovered when birds pecked out their eyes.

And Sleeping beauty was probably the worst of these for darker stories. She was never awakened by a kiss. She was put into an enchanted sleep, but when the prince found her, he rapes her sleeping form impregnates her and leaves. She then gives birth while still under enchantment and then only awakens when one of the children in looking to feed sucks on her finger sucking out the splinter or seed embedded in her finger. She then finds the prince, they get married but while he's away waging war a jealous wicked stepmother (in some versions it's his first wife) tries to kill the children and eat them for supper one at a time but she escapes with her family just as the prince returns and puts the evil queen to death.

The Little Mermaid and Thumbelina were pretty accurate but I did find some of the Disney references to character names in the Little mermaid to be a bit offputing and I was afraid the whole disney version would show up here. I have nothing against the Disney movies but in a book that is supposed to contain the a classic compilation of stories, it just didn't fit. As it is, the continued interference of Ursula was never part of the original story.

I am also concerned with the "sword in the stone" story as it's not a fairytale in the traditional sense. the original book, was first written in 1938 and would be classified better as a modern or contemporary fantasy or classical fiction such as The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Peter Pan. In fact, it has little connection to the original Arthurian legends as written by Sir Thomas Malory and if any inspiraiton for the story is used, it's probably based of the book called the "13 lessons of Merlyn" in which the wizard educates Arthur in the teachings of the druids so that as the future King of the Britons. That book was written as a way for people to find guidance in their own spiritual pathworking in druid practices. In that respect it would have little or no connection to the Magical world as we know it in the harry potter universe, though the book the Sword in the Stone did have a more "harry potter" view of magic and magical use as well as having those experiences turn into life lessons for Arthur. Also from what I remember in The Sword in the Stone, there is no female figure or character for Hermione to play as which is another concern.

I hope I don't sound overly harsh. I do intend this to be a form of constructive criticism that I hope you consider this with an open mind. I've been a fan of the darker versions of fairytales and in a site that allows for the darkness, sex and violence inherent in a lot of these stories, to find that missing was a let down for me. You, really do have room to play with these stories, especially since there are various forms to play with, outside of their reactions to the different experiences and adventures to be had. I hope this gives you something to think about and you'll used my comments to grow as a writer. Outside my upset with the stories used, I enjoyed your writing style. I didn't notice any spelling errors and it felt grammatically sound. What you are writing is very good. I just feel it could be better but I'm sure you will continue to grow and evolve as you continue to write.

Ooh you went all Anne Rice on us! ;-) Yay! Sorry to hear about your IRL troubles but they'll get better. I loved this juicy update. But I really wanted a dragon! :-p Either way I cannot wait to see what happens once Dumbledore-- Merlin- whatever- gets them back to Hogwarts and they have to come to terms with their roles of student and teacher and how they have feelings and actions outside of said roles. cannot wait until you are able to update again!

    Cheers!

I was never all that impressed with Jack and the Beanstalk as a story when I was a child, but I do like the fact that you compared him with Hagrid. Heh. I cannot wait for the next chapter. FINALLY- Sleeping Beauty! And PLEASE tell me he gets to meet the faeries. ;-) Looking forward to more!
