Very well written. And, like I'm sure a whole lot of people have said, would love to read a resolution that freed the good guys and condemned the evil. Not because this is lacking in some way. I've just got a kink for justice. However, loved this as is - it's one of those great fics that allow the reader to imagine their own ending, whether tragic or joyous or somewhere in between. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Did you do this on purpose?

Part of the appeal of the Dementors is that they truly meet out justice- they put people who have wronged others through their own nightmares. Yet, we recoil from these thoughts, sympathizing to such an extent that this seems to horrible even for the worst person.

You played on our sympathy here. You also showed that in the end when they got what they wanted, it was those who won (well, not voldermort) who were truly tortured. The roles were reversed.

    great job.

Somehow, this is just what I expect and love from you. It's disturbing, beautiful, and completely unlike anything else that I've seen. Who else would have this idea? The imagery, the four vignettes that turn into the one cohesive story, the characters, and (again) your gift for titles. You pull out one word that resonates with the entire chapter.

This is complete and utter perfection. The unique storyline, the weepy Lucius sick with regret, and Snape...glorious Snape!...saving the day yet again. Completely and utterly brilliant.

Oh! Oh, my! *breath catches in throat* This story is absolutely AMAZING! So creative, so emotional, tearing open all the flaws of the major death eaters and exposing their innate weaknesses, then giving us, the readers, the fragile hope that the lifeless dolls we've been reading about will someday have the chance to live again through the enduring strength of Snape's care. Or if not, they will have an end.

    I am in awe. Spectacular.

A brilliant story. Chilling, scary, disturbing. But immensely powerful.

    Thank you for sharing!

Here on a rec in Live Journal's the_new_library and I am so glad I gave this a try. I agree with everything the reviewer said there, and more. It ends in just the right spot, too-- I'd love to see the eventual happy ending, but it's better this way, knowing the day will come, and that in fact the redemption of the keepers, if any is to be had at all, may rest with the souls of their "dolls." Amazing writing. Thanks for sharing it.

I liked this story a lot. Very twisted but very interesting. I liked how a thread of Draco's humanity remains in him and how we see a glimpse of that too. I think the story was the perfect length -- since we know that Harry (and anyone else) won't ever recover from it, the short length helps prevent it from becoming too disturbing and horrible and thus obscene.

This is soooo interesting! You really come up with the most intriguing ideas.

I really liked that the characters had such individual feelings and reasons to behave the way they did, and that they were all so human. Even Voldemort had a rather human if cruel behavior.

Perhaps what I like the most is what you don

This story is left wide open for a sequal. I hope you'll make one.
