Reviews for Paying For His Pedestal

hmmm, I find it strange that you say that I seem to understand Harry so well. I tend to identify with Dumbledore more than any other character in the series...I like to play my games with people though perhaps that is why I understand Harry's side of things now that I think about it. I mean Dumbledore did know Harry very well. I think Harry was wrong about Hermione though. I'm pretty sure she'd never tell on him regardless of what he is doing. She seems to trust him like he trusts Dumbledore. I mean sure there might be times when she doesn't think he is right, but she will always be there doing what he says in the end even if it costs her a relationship. She is well just look at what she told him in the first book when she said he was a better wizard than she was a witch. She is sort of like Harry in that one respect. They both have someone they are willing to follow regardless of how bad or wrong that person may seem.

This I think is one of the great problems in the Harry Potter series. Harry should have ended up with Hermione. I'm not even a huge H/Hr fan. I tend to favor Harry/Fleur and Harry/Tonks, but I think Hermione was the only person with a relationship with Harry that would make a relationship plausible not to mention her loyalty to him and the fact that she is quite possibly the only 3-D female character in the book. The rest of them are all flimsily written. I mean if JKR wanted it to be Harry/Ginny then she should have taken the opportunity after COS to develop Ginny's character, but she didn't, and it really takes something away from the books. Let us hope that JKR never tries her hand at a romance novel.

omg, you're doing this again. This has been quite the rollercoaster, but that just adds to the enjoyment of the story. Since there's only two chapters left this will have to be resolved quickly, although that doesn' mean we're going to like it. Damn, i really would have liked a happy ending. I was really hopeful that finally harry was going to make the final stand and throw ginny away like the rubbish she is. Eh, can't get what we always want, although I'm curious do you plan on writing more after this, I would love to see some more Harry/Cho.

Well, as I was checking to see if the denouement had been posted yet, I thought I'd add one more observation:

As weak as you only know that I am, understand how much it

Only one more chapter? -___- So, we don't get any Harry/Cho? I mean not really. We get maybe one chapter where they are honest about how they feel though really you'll spend a lot of it getting to that point so it is less than one chapter. How sad.

Oh, and I just wanted to comment that Harry, in the last chapter, reminded me strongly of James Dean in East of Eden.

I can't believe there's only one more chapter to go! I don't even know if I can read it, because then the story will be over, but I have to see this all resolved or I will go mad.

    God, I hope this doesn't end with a murder/suicide. I kid.

I know I always put you at the end in my responses because I really try to give you a proper and well deserved response. But I just have a tendency to ramble instead!

You know, you don't have to respond to my reviews at all, so the fact that you have, and so frequently, is very kind and thoughtful of you. To continue an ongoing discourse with me over the mental health and psyche of Harry throughout this story was above and beyond what I was expecting in your acknowledgments. So, thank you so much, twocanz, and you can put your responses to me wherever you'd like! :-) Ramble away, it's all good to me.

Once again, on the control thing, I did notice those steps of Harry's so early on. Specifically in that scene, when he told Cho he wouldn't deprive her again, was intrinsically Harry, him owning up to his obligation, his DUTY, to her and adding another person to the list of people he was beholden to. But at the same time, he was atoning for his sin the only way that he could think of---namely, attempting to give Cho what she wanted---all while he continued to demonize himself in his own head. At his core, Harry still sees himself undeserving of most things normal people take for granted. He can't help but reach for it anyway, even if he knows in his bones the happiness will be fleeting.

I think that you ably showed each of those moments that Harry gave up some of that control---as I said previously, slowly giving her back the power he stole---for what they were. And of course, as Harry makes the shift, so too does his heart. Cho has seen him at his absolute very worst; she sees him without folly, she sees him without the patina of nobility and worship that the Prophet inspires in their readership, she sees him without projecting her wants and fears unto him, she sees him as a struggling human being full of faults and rage, she sees him in his fits of madness, but mostly, she sees HIM. Harry needs her for his own repair, yes. The time he spent with her over the holidays may have also contributed to his own healing, for him to see he could come back from what he had done, but it was also Harry having the chance to play a normal boy for once, courting a pretty girl who sparks his desire. I agree that he would want to show not only Cho, but himself, that he can treat her the way his truly romantic soul believes a boy should cherish the girl her adores.

Obligation is such an unyielding word in Harry's life. It rules it utterly and obscenely.

I was fully prepared to beta for you, but I'm not sure how that works here---I see you can sign up for it---and by then, your story was mostly finished, so it seemed too little too late. But next time you want to post a story, I'd love to be your beta. And btw, it's pent up not pint, it's a gibe not jib, which is another word for taunt, not taut which means something tense and the word you are looking for when describing Harry's tummy. I know, I should have been a high school English teacher.

Excellent story! I could do with another 34 chapters :) i have to say that even though you call it "smut with a storyline" i think it is more than that, true we read stories on sites like this for the adult content, but you have woven quite an enjoyable tale into it and you write the sex-scenes very well. You capture the feelings emotionally and physically in great detail and really draw us in. High praises all around!

OH, and before i forget, THANK YOU for not using the ever popular "arse" instead of ass. I have read roughly 140 hp fics...yes i am a junkie :P... and people insist on using "arse" ALL THE TIME. i really dont know if thats the way it goes for English people but i have heard them talk millions of times and even with their accent it sounds like "ass" to me... only the scots and Irish sound it out "arse" in my opinion... really drives me nuts when i see harry calling someone an "arsehole" LOL of course, using "Bum" instead of
Butt" is another story... Ok i am done ranting... LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

Harry needs to man up, and tell Cho how he feels. I'm glad you are done with the whole L-Cho crap. It was annoying because it reminds me of La Choy (I think that is what it is called at any rate). MOAR updates. plz n thnx.....This was a nice surprise to get after work.
