Now I know this was meant to be a one-off, however, I really am quite curious to know of Hermione's reaction. Surely, although she may have fancied Snape in her own right, and perhaps didn't fancy Ron, surely she would be grieved over his death? And perhaps not warm to Severus right away. The line that comes to mind is Katrina's from Sleepy Hollow. "I have shed my tears for Brom, and yet I feel no sorrow, and my heart is open to you..." (I know that's probably poorly misquoted at best...but you get the idea) If you don't intend to add another chapter, perhaps I'll take a spin-off to it, directly quoting and crediting you of course.

Yeah, sorry about the chill, there, but I have a low tolerance for the betrayal of friends. Ron had it right in 'Sorceror's Stone (the Movie)' when he said that Harry getting through was what mattered, and then he lost it until the end of the series. Even then it was only guilt that brought him back, not really any kind of loyalty. I also have a low tolerance for women who settle for less-intelligent men, I guess. Please, think of the future generations! LOL.

Voracious Reader: Brrrrrr. Oooh, that's cold . . . and what's more . . . I hate to say it but your summation of Ron is quite compelling if you look at the evidence. I remember his reaction to Harry being in the Tri-Wizard Tournament. It took Harry almost getting killed before he came around. But . . . that's kind of what's good about Ron, he does eventually come around and despite him being a prat, he's reactive, but a loyal prat in the end. Then again, I have a habit of trying to find the good in people. Prats or not. lol. Thank you for commenting. If anything, I'll find use for that point of view in the future, and maybe feel less guilty when the bashing continues. And, it will continue, because it's just so FUN! lol.

Neat, quick and clean. As for your need to 'rehabilitate Ron', why bother? I always saw him as a young man made insecure and selfish by his financial status and being the sidekick of a more famous man and a far more intelligent woman. He's a decent strategist, but doesn't apply it to anything else since he's a Gryffindor. If he had been a Slytherin, he would have been advising his father on getting ahead and making plans for his future. he's a prat.

Poor Ron. He might be a thunderhead but I don't wish him dead.
Give him Lavender and let him escape.......

No, thank you for this story. It was fantastic as ever, Ms_Figg.
Oh and I would really enjoy to sit with Snape and read from the same book. Hmmmmm.

Poor Ron! JKR's Ron is really a very nice boy, just not suitable for Hermione!! Evidentally Emma Watson agrees because in an interview for a French magazine she thought Hermione would be attracted to an older, very intelligent man. Hmmmm . . .

HA! HA! You have to wonder what the hell Ron was thinking when he challenged Snape. The man used to be a Death Eater for cripes sake...he killed for sport. What made that idiot think he could best Severus in a duel? Weasels aren't very smart animals, are they?

I get a bit of twisted pleasure when I read about Ron's idiocy or his demise. You always manage to make his stupidity or death so much fun.

    Thanks for the laugh!

Nice little Oneshot, Ms_Figg; I enjoyed this one very much. Ron really isn't the bad sort, but killing him off and/or making him the bad guy is fun. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with us.

    luvsev
