"Miss Granger has saved me from a multitude of sins, including bitterness.”

“That’s all you have to say, Albus?” said Severus with a glare, “Hermione is given a soul fragment by Sirius Black and all you can say is ‘very interesting’?”

Hermione Granger was a force of nature, and her paramour, Severus Snape, was her opposing force.

(So it was Ron's soul!)

“Something you wouldn’t understand,” said Hermione, turning to leave, “clearly, you haven’t gotten any brighter since Hogwarts.”

“Sometimes coming clean with the world can result in rejection,” stated Severus, waving his hand over the cauldron, placing his potion in stasis.
“If I came clean to you about something I had done, something like what Ron did, would you reject me?” asked Hermione.
“I would have no business rejecting anyone based on prior mistakes made,” said Severus wryly, “I have made more than my share.”
“Yes, but you have grown and learned.

“I am so glad that you are not obsessed with the details of our joining.”
“I just don’t see the point. The important thing is that we are together. Minerva and Gin will do a lovely job I’m certain.”

All she wanted for Yule was to find Ron and give him back his soul fragment. She didn’t fool herself into thinking that she would get her old friend back. She knew that life had changed them all and would have regardless of the missing fragment. She just wanted the piece he was missing to be replaced, so he could find that part of himself that he had lost.

“Not planning your own wedding, Hermione?” queried Albus as he helped himself from the steaming platter in front of him.
“No sirnswenswered Hermione, “I planned my wedding to Harry and look how THAT turned out.”

“There’s so much,” said Hermione, her voice tinged with awe as she selected a lemon biscuit from the dessert platter, “so much I don’t know about the old ways.”
“The trick,” stated Albus, “is to marry the old ways with the new to advance and grow. "

A rich baritone voice from Hermione’s side began to sing,

Hermione felt a tear roll down her cheek. It wasn’t the apology she missed. She wanted to see if he was different with the soul fragment returned. Perhaps she would find out in the future, perhaps she never would.
“It’s his life,” she said sadly, “I just hope the piece returned helps him find more life than he’s had.”

Hermione never thought of herself as a great beauty, but tonight, she felt beautiful. Tonight, she looked beautiful.
“Don’t sell yourself short, my love,” whispered a familiar voice in her ear, “to your father and me, you have always been beautiful. To Severus, you are and will always be beautiful.”
The other women in the room watched in amazement as the forum of Emma Granger coalesced in front of them. Emma looked young and stunning, dressed in a flowing robe.

Hermione looked at her mother, “How long are you here for?”
“We have tonight. And we will also be there for the births of your children…when you are ready to have them, and we’ll be there when it’s your time to join us.

“Still, the condensed version; treat Hermione right or I will literally haunt you.”
Severus fixed Trevor with a glare, “Of that, Mr. Granger, I have no doubt. Though I am quite more fearful of Mrs. Granger. After all, Hermione is very much like her other, so I’ve been told, which dnot not bode well for me should I fail to treat Hermione well.”

“You clean up fairly well,” stated Remus, “aren’t you afraid Hermione won’t recognize you?”

“The Universe has blessed this couple,” stated Albus, “far beyone mee mere words of the binding ceremony.”

When we next see you, you will be known as Severus Snape and Hermione Granger-Snape and we shall be celebrating.”

(Glad she keeps her name somewhat. Severus isn't changing his name to Severus Snape-Granger? Like Joliot-Curie?)

“things were so much simpler when we were children. When you were a prat and it could be explained away as adolescence. Now…it’s so much more. It’s intolerance, missing soul fragments, refusal to accept that things change.”

“lavender has accepted my apologies for lying, cheating, and being a lousy husband, but she will never forgive me.”
“And in reality,” said Hermione, “should she?”
“No.”

“Come to think of it, ‘Mione, you put Snape through the most of all of us.”
“He had no choice but to marry me in order to get on my good side,” she said, grinning.

With a brilliant smile, Hermione skated away from Ron, past Ginny and Harry, and took a literal leap of faith from the ice towards her husband. Severus neatly caught her in his arms.
“You took quite a chance there, my dear,” he said, his eyes radiating the love he felt.
“Not really,” said Hermione, “those we love will always catch us…one way or another.”

(nice symbolic ending there)

Hermione looked around, realizing that the room was indeed decorated in a simple and tasteful manner for the small gathering later that evening.
“Albus wished to assist,” said Severus gravely.
“I banished him to deal with the House Elves,” smiled Minerva

I always do find it amusing when people marry into money and suddenly they become judgmental on all around them.”

I absolutely loved your first story, and this sequel. This last chapter made me nearly cry...ok so I cried a little. It was amazing...I'm kinda hoping that Remus gets over Ginny being a young girl in his eyes, but you never know...Harry's pretty great too.

Amazing job, absolutely wonderful

I liked Snape in your story. He had an internal reason for being nasty. It worked for me.

I might have had one too many dissatisfying relationships but I found myself asking why didn't Hermione work for Severus' pleasure the way he seemed to give himself over to hers. It is great for the guy to give the woman all she wants but I thought they stray when women don't become their fantasy too.

I am late reading this but I enjoyed it.

I cant believe what a wonderful story this is!
You put so many great details in it, especially about the Old Ways, that was truly awesome.
This whole story left me with nothing but a wonderful, warm, positive feeling.
No deaths, no mayor catastrophes...that is what makes your story so amazing for me.
I love how you kept me reading and reading with nothin but good stuff.
AMAZING!!
Im certain i cant express how much i adore this story, but be assured i bookmarked it and will come back to it soon and back to it again and again.
Thanks a lot
