for White Roses

A distraction happened to cause me to omit the word roses in my last post. No excuse for it on my part. Should have been \"mentioned the roses as symbolism\". Also the misspelling of number is personally irritating to me.

Tis why I don\'t write any fictions myself. I would never be able to post chapters fast enough and still keep a check on mistakes.

Tis an interesting story here. I see no real problems with the story. If some of the critics would take a fresh look at the whole of the story, they might find that SS/HG are not as OOC as they might think. It would not be easy for SS to change to being very open with feelings.

As an addendum, why is it that some of the 5 star rated SS/HG stories that make Snape out to be such a \"hero\" also have him shagging a 16-17 yo Granger in the first place?

If I have to, I can provide examples from right here on AFF. A number of WIKTT Marriage law stories on AFF do just that, yet there is no outrage. Then again the view of Snape in rather a number of SS/HG stories are of an extremely idealized nature of the \"older man, younger woman\" relationships.

One reviewer mentioned the as symbolism. That was not far off at all, but did not take it far enough. The whole story is of a dark symbolic nature, and I think that is what most of the critics of this story missed.

I do hope that Tygerlily continues the storyline to see which of a numder of logical outcomes she uses.

i don\'t care how many people said they hated it i think that this story is amazing and people should remember, even if a story has characters that are ooc it still is a good story, htough i feel that the characters are very in character, snape with his inability to express true feelings, and hermione with her ability to forgive, are awesome. life isn\'t perfect and stories don\'t end perfectly. i don\'t mean that the stories sequel would have been a sadstory, though i would hope the suthor will finish it, even if only for those who enjoy her work-both harry potter and BtVS- because we LUV you tigerliliy and don\'t let others make you froget that.

Lilith, I have to say reviews like yours always surprise me. On the one hand you say that people shouldn\'t attack the author, yet you turn around and make nasty comments about other people that reviewed. Isn\'t that the same thing? And as for saying that people that didn\'t like the story are living in Lala Land for not liking it, does that mean you\'re a pathetic wimp that likes to be abused because you do like the story? I would hope not. Just as people not liking the story are not in Lala land. People have different opinions. Grow up honey and get into the real world. You claim to like raelism in fanfiction, but obviously not in real life. Reviews aren\'t always sweetness and light, and I think most authors realize it.

And think about it. We\'re all reading fanfiction based on a children\'s book. Yup, we\'re all in fantasy land however you look at it.

TigerLily-I would never say anything bad about you because I admire anyone that has the guts to put up a story. Did I like it? Well not really but that\'s because I hate the fact of SS cheating on HG. It\'s as simple as that, yet I do believe that you have the right to post the characters as you see fit.

May I add my please to the many others. I really do hope you post a sequel. And I will toss a penny in the wishing well and hope tha things are not as bleak as they seem for Severus and Hermione.

Oh dear. Things are so horrible in this story. You really have a way with words and I\'m just hoping that you wil write the sequel and save HG and SS somehow. LOL

Me again.
I just read the reviews (yes, I actually read the story before reading the reviews. I always do that because I prefer not to be biased by others opinions) Well, those reviews brought up a few more thoughts.
First omg, I can\'t believe how many horrible reviews you got. Honestly, I admire you, I don\'t know if I had kept up my story if it had happened to me.

To all those who wrote they didn\'t demand to take the story off: That\'s not the point! I always thought reviews were a way to encourage writers and offer constructive criticism. Well, perhaps I\'m idealistic. All I can see is that you most certainly didn\'t. You just bashed the author because the story hurt your feelings. Tell you what? That\'s actually a sign of a good story. A story which wouldn\'t make me happy or sad or anything would certainly not count among my favourits.

Then there are those who raved about the roses. Honestly. Can\'t you recognice symbolism when it stares you in the face?

Sadly, the characters are not unrealistic. Perhaps that\'s what enraged so many people... they prefer to stay in a happy Lala-land where nobody get\'s hurt. Why do you read dark storys then?

There are those who write they prefer happy, unrealistic storys because they want escape real life when they read fanfiction. Well, nobody forces you to read this, right? I personally enjoy realistic storys, and I would be very unhappy if they ceased to exist because of you.

To the author:

You are a brillant writer, just ignore those who said otherwise. This story is a good one, and your charcters are NOT totally OOC.

There is one thing about the story I want to criticise, which I overlooked before: I have to agree Hermione is a bit young. Did you write it before the fifth book was published? Because while I read this it seemed as if they were already in a longer relationship, say, one or two years. I just asumed she was around 18/19 and overlooked you said otherwise. I don\'t have a problem with the professor/student relationship. It\'s just that a relationship such as theirs needs some time to develope. She said she loved him, they got into a relationship, he proposed to her... I thought it happened over at least a year.

I agree with the reviewer who said that based on the books, the characters could have very likely developed this way. I remember JKR saying in one of her interviews (as some guy asked her if there would be some romance for Severus in her books): \"He was a deatheater. The things he did... How could anyone love him?\" I never wrote him that way either, I just quote this to show the CANON Severus is not the honorable, loving person many fanfiction-writers make him out to be.

What I love in your story is that you made Hermione loving him, despite him being a dysfunctional person. Out of all HP characters I think Hermione is most likely to develope that kind of obsession, because she is an idealistic person who believes she can change everything to the better.

btw Before anybody makes some of these ridiculous asumptions about my person which seem to be common among your reviewers:

I am no teenager, and I had my fair share of experience with abusive relationships in my life. That\'s why I claim to have some authority in saying this is realistic. Also, I very much like the Severus/Hermione pairing. I know my grammar is bad, but this is because english is not my native language, so please excuse me.

And again: Please write the sequel!

Well, if it wasn\'t supposed to be the end, write the sequel! I honestly don\'t understand why people don\'t like this, I think your story is great. Sure, the characters are not exactly as JK made them, but earnestly... this pairing would never exist in JKs books. I personaly like this pairing very much, and I think your characters are way more IC than in any of those many sappy \'falling spontanously in love and living happily ever after\' storys. I liked the way you described Severus feelings and Hermiones too. I have to admit though, that I am a fan of happy endings (not living happily ever after but at least somewhat happy endings), so... Write a sequel! I\'ll definitely be waiting for it.

I enjoyed this story. I do believe that because she\'s a mudblood Snape would have a problem with Hermione in any relationship the two have. I think that if he hadn\'t been so cruel to her, and her so forgiving (face it, she\'s always forgiven Snape his behavior in all of the books) it would have been even more OOC. It isn\'t a healthy relationship, but Hermione admits to it in the story. I say well done.
