really nice of hermione to defend the potions master and what a nasty demon that is!
I hope severus can protect her further, but he can't always be on time, can he?
and I'm curious how that talk will go, it'd make things much easier if they would
both forget about their argument etc and concentrate on defeating the demon.

Nice chapter- even under threat of death at every turn by a demon, Hermione still is able to have dirty thoughts about Snape's bed! I know I said it was a bit irresponsible of Snape to summon a demon in class- I still think it was, but Minerva's continued harping and overreacting on the subject is getting annoying. I can understand one initial tirade, but then you move on and work to solve the problem. He definitely doesn't deserve to go to Azkaban, and this chapter really shows that Minerva has some more issues with Snape that need to be worked out. He was partially responsible for the situation, but Hermione is the one who spoke to the demon. I think they're both responsible, but Minerva's attitude is way too harsh on Snape. Good on Hermione for taking responsibility for her part and sticking up for Snape. Looks like those two will have to stay VERY close together, at all times, hm? Oh, the (yummy) possibilities!

Wow... Chapter 34 sent a trill of fear down my spine. I hope Hermione gets through it all right. Then again, with Snape at her side, how can she NOT?

And about the entire Snape letting the class experience a demon... yeah, it was rather dangerous to expose students to it, but they were old enough to know better.
Still, he should have asked parents if they were willing to let their children take that risk or not.
Or he should have put Silencing spells on all of them so they couldn't talk at all.
But no one has perfect foresight. Not even Snape. And it was awesome of you, Figgy to keep him so in character.
Oh, and I really hope something awful happens to Edgar if he copies her paper or whatever lol.

I think that any parent of any student that goes to Hogwarts is already aware of the dangerous nature of the curriculum, particularly for an Advanced class. I'm not sure a Silencing spell would have worked on a demon. Any creature that can speak to several individuals at once most likely can not only hear but feel their responses. A Silencing spell doesn't stop the voice, only keeps others from hearing it. Can't be sure that would work on a demon. But you're right in that no one has perfect foresight. I think what happened with Snape could happen with any teacher though. Maybe not demons, but say, a child is killed on a field trip because he didn't follow simple instructions. It can happen. Not to say it does that often, but it can.

I don't know how you keep it all straight in your head, when you're writing not only HG/SS stuff (two stories which have now moved to the professor's quarters) but surely other works, too, in addition to attending to real life matters... You're doing a terrific job.

heh, the title, "the bodyguard" reminded me of the movie with whitney houston since i watched it yesterday ^^;;...anyways, i like it, but now snape seems kinda happy since he has her all the time now ^^
