It doesn't seem so odd that Severus is a virgin; I can't see him having a girlfriend at Hogwarts (Lily included), I can't see him taking a partner once he has a dark mark; and I think his teaching (and the fact he doesn't really go out) taking up his time so he hasn't met many woman. This isn't odd at all once you analyse it!
