I'm glad you didn't make him a love interest. Twins would explain them growing up together quite nicely. I like the style of the story and the succinctness, but the wording feels like it needs a little work. Alternately, this could be turned into a longer one-shot with examples backing up the thoughts and making Minerva and Tom both more three-dimensional.
