It was a very good start and definitely caught my interest. I look forward to where you take this story.
Since I was utterly bored today and was looking for any excuse to ignore my housework, I decided to take you up on your offer of welcoming constructive criticism and nit picking for grammar and spelling errors. Below is what I found.
I want to say that these suggestions in no way detracted from my enjoyment of your story. Again, I was bored and had the time and inclination.
