Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Warnings: characters are likely not entirely canon, but that's the nature of fanfic. Some male/male slash, though not prevalent; one graphic scene later on. Vampires.
Notes: This is a Hellsing/Harry Potter crossover that I've been working on as a like... distraction from the other stuff I've been working on. I have, admittedly, become rather fond of this, though. There are many themes in this that are kind of recurring from Hell and High Tide and Come Undone, so I apologise if I sound redundant. Strangely, though, this story actually has a plot! I know, calm down, I didn't mean to shock anyone. And on that note, read on!
Crossing Over
"Late night, even for you."
The Headmaster looked up, startled, into the softly smiling, ghostly face of his longtime friend and colleague. "How many times have I told you to quit doing that, Severus!?" he gasped as he caught his breath.
Severus' smile widened. With inhuman grace, he sat in one of the armchairs by the fire, beckoning his companion to join him. "Apologies, Albus," he said, voice soft and crisp. "I didn't mean to frighten you."
"You could never frighten me, my boy," laughed the elder wizard. It took him a long time to hobble from his desk to the other armchair. "Startle me, heavens, yes! but frighten, never. What brings you about at this hour of the night? Surely you've better things to be doing than paying a visit to an old man."
The smile on Severus' face faded out and his face became a mask of consternation. "As it turns out, there isn't much be to to do than anything," he stated after a long while. "And I'm not all that sure anymore which one of us is the old man."
"Well... if it makes you feel any better, I believe at least one of my life's questions has been answered." The other man raised a brow. "Perhaps being ageless isn't all it's cracked up to be."
"Mm... I've not given that much thought, truth be told. I've not lived long enough for it to matter yet."
A silence fell over the two, and the fire was not enough to warm them.
"This is where you would normally offer me tea."
Albus grinned. With a flick of his wand and a muttered spell, there was a flask flying to his hand from his desk drawer. "I took the liberty of having this made for you. I'd wanted to wait until Halloween, but the essiossion on your face tells me that now would be a better time."
"What is this?"
"It's er... a concoction a local brewer makes. It is quite safe, I assure you. The man is legitimate; I'll give you his card," the old man replied.
With renewed interest, Severus opened the bottle and sniffed at its contents. His black eyes nearly rolled back in his head when the scent hit his nostrils. "Oh, Albus, that is heavenly," he breathed. He took a deep drink of the liquid, then recapped the bottle. "What on Earth is that!?"
"A mixture of dragon's blood, laudenum, and his own red wine. I assume this is appropriate in place of tea?"
"Oh, indeed," he breathed again, sipping at the liquid gold in his flask. "Albus, this is a most... exquisite gift. Thank you very kindly."
"Do use caution, Severus. Even you are not immune to the effects of laudenum," warned the elder wizard.
Severus' grin returned. "I will."

Something was dead wrong and Severus knew it even before he crossed the threshold to his chambers. There was a presence that was not familiar waiting inside. It was waiting for him. It was not hostile; he knew that much. Taking his chances, Severus opened the door.
"Such a long time to decide if you'd like witnesses," a smooth voice purred from the darkness, but Severus' heightened senses allowed him to see his visitor plainly. The mouth was smiling, though the rest of the face was obscured by a red hat. "You are a strange creature, Severus Snape. You're so q to to mock yourself. How... odd!"
"This coming from a- no. You're not a man, are you? You detest the very idea, and yet... you're more man than you care to admit." The intruder's grin faded. He tilted his hat up to see, thus revealing a pair of yellow glasses resting on an angular nose. Sensing that he'd touched a nerve, Severus felt more comfortable. "Mocking oneself comes naturally to miscreants such as ourselves, don't you think?"
"Hn."
"Apologies, my dear," Severus purred rather condescendingly. "Would you care for a drink?"
The intruder's face stretched into a grin once more. "I believe I like you. You've got... spunk." He took the flask, then moaned very, very quietly. "And excellent taste. If I didn't know the point was moot, I might be inclined to ask you on a date."
Deep, rich laughter erupted from the stranger, startling Severus. "I suppose that is what I'm here for, after all!"
"Excuse me, Sir, what on Earth are you talking about?" asked the Potions Master.
The stranger paced back and forth in front of the hearth for a few moments, deep in thought. Finally, after about five minutes time, he stopped and smiled wickedly up at Severus. "I was sent here to destroy you," he stated. "I've no intention of carrying through, Severus Snape. I believe I've another proposition to make you instead."
Severus took another drink from his flask, passed it to his companion, and collapsed onto one of the armchairs. "Go on," he whispered, looking up at the other vampire.
"I do not believe you are familiar with the Hellsing Organisation," the vampire stated, resuming his pacing. "In the name of God, impure souls of the living dead shall be banished into eternal damnation. Amen." He laughed, but not as loudly as he had moments earlier. "The moment I set foot in these rooms... I know your soul, Severus Snape. You are not the creature Sir Int mad made you out to be. Tell me... how did you come into existence?"
A very pained look siezed Severus' face as soon as the question was asked. "I-" he began. He'd decided to attempt to avoid answering, but knew it was futile. The other vampire had who knew how long to learn his powers? Severus had only received the Gift a short time ago; he still hardly knew who he was, what he was, or what the world might have in store for him.
"You're not a freak, Severus," he purred, dropping onto his knees before his host. "So how, then, did your maker slip through our fingers?"
"My maker is... gone," Severeplreplied. "I never knew the one who made me."
A grin stretched out across the stranger's face. "Oh, Severus," he purred into the other's ear, "I believe I have much to offer you. So? Do you want to come with me?"
As though he were seeing the world for the first time, Severus looked up in amazement at the creature before him. Power seemed to exude from his pores as he stood, looking down at Severus, hand extended in invitation.
"Tell me your name," he muttered as he accepted the hand and was drawn to his feet.
"I am called Arucard," the vampire stated, his grin widening. "Now. We shall see Sir Integra."
In a cloud of black fog, the vampires left the castle grounds.

I don't think I mentioned it, but this isn't beta-d (or whatever). If there are any glaring errors, let me know, I guess, but otherwise I don't care much. There's much worse out there. Thanks and cheers and big kiss and all that cal.
