Kindred Passion
By Sandra M. Furgerson
Welcome to my story, Kindred Passion. For those of you who don't like "nice' vampyre stories, or werewolves, I warn you that there are plenty of both. And for those who don't think Severus Snape can be the ultimate creep, you'd better look elsewhere.
There are a great many characters in this that have nicknames or titles, so I'm give you their names and the nicknames they have, along with meanings of the nicknames.
Have fun, and please remember, this is fiction, and I might have played a little loose with Celtic folklore. Also any Harry Potter characters are the property of J.K. Rowling. No money is being made off this fan fiction.

CHAPTER 1:
She was racing through the woods. Anger and hate consumed her, along with fear of the man who had held her captive.
Suddenly she was grabbed from behind, her head forced back. There were teeth at her thr sin sinking into her vein. For a second only, she feared her attacker, then relaxed into his grip. She felt safe.
"What have I done?" Tariq groaned as he sliced open his own hand and touched the woman's wounds, where, only seconds before, he had begun to drain her blood. Using his own, he healed the wounds he had unknowingly inflicted on an innocent. As she collapsed against him, he lifted her into his arms. What little he could see in the shadows, she appeared to be fairly young, her hair tangled and dirty. She was very light, as if she had not had enough to eat recently. As he walked toward the castle carrying his burden, Tariq hoped she would live.
Entering the castle, Tariq sent up a call for help from his allies, especially the healer. Swiftly they came at his summons. Miles, Fionn, Achak, Mairead, the healer, and even Sibeal. He felt shame and a deep sense of guilt that he had to face them with a stain upon his honour. As Fionn lifted the girl from his arms, Miles took hold of him, "What happened?" Tariq attempted to explain, "She was in the woods, where no one but the Loup-Garou and the Vampyres are supposed to be at this time. The emotions I sensed coming from her were anger and hatred. I thought she was here to harm someone." He looked at the floor, "I was wrong."
"You have risked the alliance with this," Miles exploded. He looked at Fionn as he lay the girl before Mairead. "Take and bind him. If the girl lives, she will decide his fate. If not, it falls into Albus' hands."
Remus Lupin and Sirius Black appeared in the hall. "What's wrong, Sibeal?" Remus asked. She answered, "No time to explain. We need a safe and warm place for this girl. One well away from the students." Sirius stared at the girl, "I know just the place. It's near the top of Gryffindor Tower, but it hasn't been used in years." He looked at Sibeal, "Erin, she seems terribly familiar to me." As the young redhead glanced closer at their patient, she had to agree. Somewhere, sometime, she had seen this girl before.
With Sirius leading the way, the group soon reached the room he had mentioned, "Well, I said it hadn't been used. Guess we'd better get it cleaned if you're going to occupy it. "Remus grinned at his friend, "Allow me." Taking out his wand, he muttered a few words and waved the wand. There before them, was a beautiful room, clean and aired, with a fire in the fireplace, fresh bedding on the bed, and in the corner behind a screen was a steaming tub just ready for bathing. Erin smiled, "Oh, Moony, you think of everything. Now gentlemen, if you will please leave, Mairead and I will get to work."
After the males left, Mairead began examining the girl. "It's not too bad. I'd say Tariq hadn't fed more than a moment or two before he realized the error. Let's t's get her out of these filthy clothes and into the tub Remus supplied. I think the unconsciousness is caused more by neglect and exhaustion than anything else."
A short time later, the girl was tucked into a warm bed, with Erin sitting beside her. As Muirinn watched, the girl's eyes flickered open. Attempting to reassure her, Erin said, "You're safe. Just take it easy." She smiled at the girl, "My name is Muirinn, how do you feel?" With a sad look the young woman shook her head and touched her throat. Meeting Mairead' eyes, Erin said, "I don't think she CAN talk. Let's find out why."
Within a few moments, Erin looked up at Mairead in a towering rage. "Someone has placed a curse on her, forbidding speech. It's been there a long time, but someone recently reinforced it. Let's see if we can break through the damned thing!" Joining hands with the young woman, Muirinn and Mairead combined their powers, and managed to unravel the spell controlling her. "There!" Erin said emphatically. "Now, how do you feel?" Barely above a whisper they heard a soft voice reply, "Better. Thank you." Erin smiled, "Great! Oh, by the way, this is Mairead. She's a healer." "I'm Seanna. It feels so good to talk again."
There was a knock on the door, and Remus stuck his head in, "May we come in now?" Muirinn looked at Seanna, who nodded. "Yes, you may," she smiled. Seanna watched warily as six men entered the room. All of a sudden, a young man darted into the room, "Mom, are you ok?" he asked anxiously. Muirinn responded, "Harry, I'm fine. Now would you please" Seanna spoke quietly, "Let him stay. It's alright." Erin continued, ""¦Go sit down and keep quiet."
As Seanna observed the men, she sensed a difference in some of them. Something they shared with the healer. Softly she said to Mairead, "They are like you." Mairead stared at her, what was the girl seeing? "Yes." Then Seanna noticed that one of them was tied up. "What's going on? Why is that one bound?" Erin simply said, "Listen, and respond to what your heart tells you." Looking at the one man, Erin said, "Her name is Seanna."
The man she had spoke to, had dark brown hair and brown eyes. To Seanna, he appeared Spanish. He bowed to Seanna, "I am Miles, Primogen or Leader of Clan Fianna. You were injured by one of our allies, and it falls to us to take care it never happens again. According to our laws, it is up to you what his punishment should be as you were the one harmed by him. We surrender him to your justice." Seanna looked up at Muirinn, confused. "Injured?" Muirinn nodded, "The marks on your neck were caused by him." Seanna reached up and felt two small puncture marks, "I remember now."
Observing Seanna, Muirinn felt surprised by the lack of fear in her. Most victims of violence live a long time with the terror. Apparently there was more to this young woman than there seemed to be. Seanna spoke softly, "Tell me Primogen, what might I levy as discipline?" Miles responded, "It could be just about anything." She sat, watching the man. "Please bring him here." As they brought Tariq closer to the woman he had hurt, he dared not look up. What would she choose as his punishment?
When they reached her side, Tariq heard a soft voice, "Please look at me." He just couldn't, and shook his head. Gentle hands touched his face, lifting it until he had no choice but meet her eyes. To Tariq the glance felt like an eternity. She said, "Release him." The young blonde man replied to her, "I am Fionn. Lady we cannot release him until his punishment has been determined. It is our law." Her smile was like a warm patch of sun in the forest, "Oh, really?" Tariq shook, waiting for her judgment. Suddenly he felt her lifting his hands, watching in shock, his bindings fell away at her touch.
She looked at him and smiled again, then said to Miles and Fionn, "My judgment is that he is punishing himself far more than I ever could or would. Let him be." Miles stepped forward, but the man in the shadows spoke, halting him. "You can do nothing Miles, and you know it. You left it up to Seanna, and she has rendered judgment. Abide by your own laws."
The man stepped into the light and Seanna gasped app appeared to have just climbed from a grave. His hair was almost gone, and he appeared emaciated. There was also an odor of death about him. He bowed in Seanna's direction, "Lady, I am Achak of Clan Nosferatu, if you ever need aid, do not hesitate to ask." He quietly turned toward the door. "Achak? He turned to face the woman. "Please come here for a moment." As the Nosferatu approached the bed, he became apprehensive, what did she want of him? As she met his eyes, Achak could find no sign of abhorrence or distaste in her. Seanna held out her hand to him. As he slowly took it, she said, "Thank you for your offer." Achak truly did not understand this mortal. She had no fear or dislike of him. "Lady, I would like to speak with you again. At a more auspicious time." He departed, feeling very confused by the young woman.
In the midst of everything, Seanna had been watching Mairead as she smiled at the wordplay. Spotting something, she began to put the pieces together. These people were Vampyres. Closing her eyes for a moment, Seanna decided to pay attention to the nebulous voice in her head. Touching the black-haired man's hand, she found it felt like ice. She asked, "How long has it been since you fed?" Everyone in the room gasped in shock. How had she figured it out? The man did not answer. Seanna grinned, "Let's start again, I'm Seanna. What's your name?" He whispered, "Tariq." "Hello Tariq. Would you please tell me how long it's been?" Looking down, he mumbled, "Yesterday." Seanna started, "Yesterday! No wonder you feel so cold.
Everyone in the room stared at each other. What is this woman up to? She pulled him down to sit beside her, "Tariq, may I ask you something?" He nodded. Persuading him to look in her eyes, Seanna said, "With full knowledge of what I say, I ask, "˜Will you feed?' I freely offer you my blood." Fionn burst out, "YOU CAN'T!" Mairead stepped in, "Fionn if she is aware of what she asks, you have no right to interfere." Continuing to gaze into his eyes, Seanna told him, "I have no fear of you or what I ask. All I know is that something deep inside me compels me to ask it of you."
Tariq felt stunned, "After I hurt you, you can still offer me that. What manner of woman are you?" Their eyes locked on each other, Seanna replied, "I do not fear you," and touched his cheek.
Tariq smiled, and said softly, "Shall we get comfortable?" She nodded shyly. Tariq seated himself behind her on the bed, resting against the headboard. "If you trust me, lay back against me," he requested quietly. Seanna closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and rested against him. "Are you alright," he asked her? "I'm fine," Seanna responded and smiled. He whispered in her ear, "Just relax, every thing will be ok." Tariq bent his head and placed a soft kiss on the side of her neck, and as he watched, her hands fell to the bed and her head tilted back. He truly hoped this would not be something she'd regret.
As he kissed her again, he inserted his fangs into the vein, and felt her shiver. While he fed, Tariq felt her tense up a couple of times, and as he finished feeding, Seanna gave a soft cry. Tariq healed the wounds. "Are you alright? I'm sorry I hurt you." When he started to get up, she took his hand, "You didn't hurt me." Seanna smiled and reached up to his mouth. Touching him, she said, "You missed a drop," and held out her finger with some of her own blood on it. Looking in her eyes, Tariq accepted the drop and wondered at what he saw. Suddenly she grasped his collar and brought his mouth down to hers. She kissed him softly, letting her tongue run along the edge of his lip. As he opened to her, Seanna slipped inside and tasted her own blood in his mouth. "Mmm, interesting flavor," and released him. "That was quite an experience!"
"Yeah, one you'll never try again. Right?" Fionn sputtered. Seanna looked at him, and a big grin spread across her face, "I wouldn't bet on that if I were you. It was thrilling!" Fionn's mouth fell open in total shock. This woman actually enjoyed it. What was it about her that made her unlike anyone the Vampyres had ever met, with the exception of Muirinn.
There was a knock at the door. "Well," Erin stated, "Someone answer it!" Remus opened the door to Albus Dumbledore. "I thought I should find out why the Slytherins are so sure you brought a body up here." His gaze caught sight of Seanna. "If you're the body, I think the Slytherins ALL need their eyes examined." Sirius spoke, "Draco Malfoy, of course. I thought I saw him skulking in the halls."
Muirinn smiled, "Before I forget Seanna, these other two terrors are Remus Lupin and Sirius Black. If you see them together, it usually means trouble for someone." In unison they said, "Now Erin, that's not fair!" She smiled, "Uncle Albus, this is Seanna. Tariq mistakenly attacked her in the woods tonight." Professor Dumbledore took the girl's hand, "You seem to be doing alright now. By the way, I'm Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster here." His eyes waed aed around the room, "Nice job gentlemen, but allow me to assist." With a wave of his wand, there were two new doors. When Muirinn looked behind the first, she sighed, "I think I'll move up here with Seanna. That's quite a bathroom." Beyond the second door was a sitting room with a storage area off the end of it.
The door slammed against the wall. "What is going on? Where is the body these monsters brought up here?" Mairead was watching the face of the young woman as the newcomer demanded answers. There was a look of cold rage on Seanna's face. Mairead thought, "So this is who she hates." Nudging Fionn, she whispered for him to keep the man away from Seanna. Albus stepped forward, "There are no bodies here, and don't you know how to knock?"
Suddenly Severus Snape noticed the occupant of the bed, "Forgive me Professor, I'll notify St. Mungo's that their patient is here." "You'll do no such thing, Severus," Muirinn Shaheen exclaimed, "Lay one hand on her and I'll take the hand off at the wrist." She turned at looked at Seanna, "Seanna"¦" "How do you know her name," Snape asked. Muirinn glared at him, "When she arrived, she couldn't even tell us where she hurt. I found that someone had placed a curse on her. I removed the damned thing. You got a problem with that, Professor Snape?"
Seanna spoke, "Do you want to know who set the spell? My father did! As to who has reinforit it since Father died, Severus has." Muirinn appeared confused, "But why would he do that?" Seanna sneered, "I'm deeply grateful that you can't tell. This jerk is my blood, my brother!" Muirinn turned on him in a rage, "How could you do that to family? Are you totally mad?" "Muirinn, my dear," Severus began smoothly, "She is mad, evil. There is a mark on her wrist that proves it."
Seanna reached out her hand to Muirinn, who glanced at the mark. She then snarled at Severus, "Get out of my sight, you make me sick. That mark tells me a great deal, and your explanation has just convinced me, that you could never have loved me." She held out her hand and pulled back the sleeve of her wizard's robe. On her wrist was the very same mark. "You fool! It is the mark of Airmed's Children. If you confined your sister for that, how long would I have been with you before you locked me away too?" Muirinn collapsed into Fionn's arms, weeping. He looked at Mairead, "I'll take her into the other room. Sirius, would you care to join us? Thank you Albus."
Severus was devastated. He had lost Muirinn, thanks to his sister. Leaving the room, he contemplated a way to correct the problem, and it all started with getting Seanna away from Hogwarts. After that, he could begin to make amends to Erin, without her interference.
Albus glanced at Miles and Remus, "Now, how are we going to protect our guesom Som Severus? He's had a shock, but it wouldn't surprise me if he tried to abduct her back to the asylum." Tariq spoke up, "I'll stay here." As Miles opened his mouth to object, Mairead caught his gaze and shook her head. "Very well. Until I can make arrangements with Raissa for the Loup-Garou to stand watch." With that, Miles, Remus, Dumbledore and Mairead left the room.
Seanna looked at the tall young Vampyre, "He didn't want you to stay. Why?" Tariq sighed, "I think he's afraid he can no longer trust me. Therefore, he thinks you're not safe with me." Looking Tariq in the eyes, she said very seriously, "Well, I trust you! If you couldn't be trusted, you would have covered up the mistake you made, instead of admitting to it and accepting punishment." She smiled, "Why don't you come and sit down so we can talk. I don't bite"¦hard!" At the joke, Tariq started to cheer up. This woman was quite a character. Even after all she had been through, she could still crack jokes. "Why did you release me and refuse to punish me? I deserved it."
Seanna sighed, "Tariq, I refused to sentence you for the same reason I released you. When you finally met my eyes, I could see that guilt was eating you up. There was no way I could add more pain to what you were already feeling. Besides, you didn't actually mean ME any harm. You thought I was a danger to the children. In all honesty, out there, even when you grabbed me, I didn't really fear you. Something about you made me feel safe."
"Even when I began feeding," Tariq asked. She smiled, "Even then—most especially then. It was as if my spirit recognized you." Stunned, he said, "But you fainted." Seanna asked, "Do you want to know exactly what I was thinking in the woods? I'll tell you." She took a deep breath, "I remember being full of hate and anger at Severus for keeping me imprisoned. When you took hold of me, I was so deep in those emotions, I didn't even know you were there until you began to feed. For a second only, I was afraid, then a feeling of safety, overwhelming security flooded my being. It was then that I relaxed against you. You see, not because I fainted, but because I was safe."
Tariq didn't understand, "How could you feel that way? I attacked you, was trying to drain your life force? I was a threat to you. How could you feel safe?" Seanna said thoughtfully, "I don't understand it either. All I know is that when we touch, I get a feeling of deep peace. What causes it and why, I have no idea." Tariq just watched her for a time, then said, "You had better get some rest. I'll be in the other room if you need something." With that, he got up and left Seanna alone.
Seanna lay back on the pillow and considered everything that had happened in the last few hours. What really surprised her was that, although she and Severus were under the same roof for the first time in years, she knew she was safe from him. Seanna was certain that Tariq and his friends could handle her brother. Thinking of Tariq, she fell asleep remembering the warmth in him beautiful grey eyes.
Meanwhile, in the sitting room, Tariq paced the floor, wondering what there was about the woman. He couldn't seem to get her out of his head. Finally he threw himself onto the sofa and gave up fighting it. Closing his eyes, he remembered the touch of her fingers on his face, the feel of her mouth against his, and finally, the scent of her, and the taste of her blood on his tongue. A taste she had dared to share in the kiss. Tariq slipped into slumber.
Sometime later, Tariq woke with a start. Hearing Seanna cry out, he rushed into her room. She was struggling with the blankets as though fighting someone off. Tariq pulled the blanket away as he sat beside her on the bed. It dawned on him that she had cried out in her sleep. Reaching for Seanna, he drew her into his arms. At his very touch, she calmed and lay her head against his chest. "Dear Havens, she even trusts me in her sleep," he thought. "How warm and soft against me." Suddenly he felt hunger. "No, I just fed!" As he sat there holding her, he realized that the hunger wasn't for blood but for her, body and spirit.
Seanna slowly awoke, feeling warm and safe. She vaguely remembered a dream involving Severus, then just as she panicked, a feeling came over her of not being alone. It had calmed her, and allowed her to drop into true sleep. As she opened her eyes, she sensed arms around her, holding her as if she were very precious. Carefully, she looked up. It was Tariq! She must have cried out, and he came to check on her. Watching him sleep, Seanna felt a hunger deep inside her and realized that she wanted him to make love to her, to drown her in the passion that could only be shared. Well, she'd see if she could eventually get him to agree. Sighing, Seanna hoped it wouldn't take too long, or she would end up attacking HIM!
Following instinct, she placed a soft kiss on the underside of his jaw, drawing her lips toward his ear. Suddenly, he turned, met her lips with his own, and showed her that the desire to mate was alive in him as well. Seanna put her arms around his neck, and returned his kiss with all the passion burning her up from within. Awakening to his arousal, Tariq drew back. "No! I can't do this!" and fled to the other side of the room.Seanna thought for a moment, when an incredible idea struck her, "Tariq, are you afraid of me?" She asked him quietly. Looking anywhere but at her, he admitted, "I'm afraid of what you make me feel. It's wrong!" Smiling, Seanna approached him, "I'm glad you said that. I was wondering if it was just me feeling like I've been knocked over." She touched his shoulder, "Tariq," She took a breath and looked toward the window, "Oh, hell, this is embarrassing." Looking back at him, she finished, "I want you to know that I think you're very sexy. I hope you realize that I want you. I want your touch, your kisses, and most of all, I want you to make love to me. I want to feel you deep inside me."
Tariq stared at Seanna, stunned. "I don't understand any of this, but you are being honest about what you're feeling, how can I be any less?" He closed his eyes, thinking, "I fell asleep thinking of your touch, your kiss, your scent and even your taste. I convinced myself nothing could ever come of these feelings, and then you turn me upside down with your confession. Seanna, I admit, I want nothing more than to make love to you, but I also think we need to wait. There are things about me you need to know before anything happens between us."
Seanna smiled at him, a light in her eyes. "As long as I know you feel what I feel, I can be patient for the last. But does that mean that we can't touch, or kiss, and that I can't ask you to hold me? I certainly hope not. I have lived most of my life without affection that I don't think I could ever exist in that barren place again. I'd rather die than be without the caring."
Tariq was stunned by the realization that, in so many ways, her life mirrored his own. The loneliness and despair he had felt since he had been ˜embraced' was an almost exact copy of her experience with her father and brother. Tariq held out his arms, and thrilled at the sight of her running into them to be held close. With her head against him, Tariq leaned his own down and rested it in the crook of her neck. He felt like he had found a safe harbor to come home to, one that he never wanted to leave again.
"Seanna, you should be sleeping," Tariq said finally, and led her back to the bed. "I don't want to be alone," She protested. Smiling, he seated himself up at the top of the bed and held out his arms to her, "Come here." Seanna curled up in his arms and cuddled close to him. It felt wonderful to be held. "Just relax," Tariq said as she rested against him. "I'm not going anywhere and neither are you." He pulled a blanket over her and closed his own eyes. It felt so good to hold a woman again, without having to worry if she would find out about him. Seanna had figured it out earlier, but had showed no fear of his being a Vampyre. He sensed her soft breathing, and the slow beat of her heart. She had quite literally fallen asleep in his arms. With that, he too, fell into a deep sleep.
Early the next morning, Erin, Mairead, Miles and Fionn appeared in the newly created flat. Not finding Tariq in the sitting room, they headed for the bedroom, where they halted in shock. Tariq was asleep against the headboard of the bed, and Seanna was cuddled in his arms. Sensing an immanent explosion, Mairead and Muirinn pulled the two men out of the room, closed the door, and sealed it against sound. Miles' temper was the first to blow. "He's gone too far this time! He was supposed to protect her, not seduce her!" Meanwhile, Fionn was growling something about staking him out in the sun to dry. Muirinn and Mairead burst out laughing at the two males. Slowly the guys realized that the two women thought THEY were funny. Miles snarled, "Exactly what are you two laughing at. He's betrayed our agreement with Albus behaving like this!" Mairead snapped back, "Knock it off. Tariq has done nothing to warrant your acting like demons." Muirinn snorted, "Seduced her, huh? Then would you please tell me why he is fully clothed? The last time I knew, he should have at least had his boots and pants off." She giggled, "It's a little tough to have sex with your pants on and fastened."
The men looked at each other dumbfounded. Muirinn continued, "It is always a possibility that she had a nightmare and he was comforting her, when she fell back to sleep." Mairead shook her head, "Miles, do you really think that poorly of Tariq? Perhaps he needs to deal with someone other than yourself if you do. He made one mistake and you're going to keep holding it against him, even though Seanna's forgiven him."
