The Dragon Seeker
Author: Susan Litten/aka Lucky Snape
Summary: Lucky Hunter is hiding a secret, and it could destroy her delicate relationship with Harry Potter. Does she tell him, or let him discover it on his own? Meanwhile, she needs to finish her potion, which could save thousands.
Disclaimer: If J.K. Had thought up a character like Lucky, she would have put her in the first five books. So I guess this means that I don’t own them. I barely own a DVD player and a copy of the first two movies. Try and take them and I will cut off your hand and feed it to my boyfriend’s turtle. Who just happens to be named Mad Eye Moody. And is vicious, and hisses. A lot.
Rating: NC-17, for violence, language and sex. Please read responsibly.
Authors notes. Oooohhh…. many, many thanks to Joy, who seemed to like my character so much that she just couldn’t wait for me to finish it, and begged to Beta it, just so she could read the main story first. Cheeky little chit. Hmm… my kinda lady. Cool beans.
First off: I do not advocate teenaged smoking. Lucky just seemed to scream it though, and as I am a smoker, it seemed to work.
Second: I DO NOT ADVOCATE VIOLENCE PERPETRATED ON CHILDREN WHAT SO EVER. But every good heroine needs something big to get over, and again, Lucky just screamed this.
Thirdly: *sniff* I do not live in either Los Angelus or England. I live in the furthest corner of the northern continental United States of America. It rains. A lot. And the only thing I have to do most days is write. As such, if there are any mistakes pertaining to these areas, that’s why, and I beg your forgiveness before hand.
Chapter one: Enter the Dragon.
The door to the dungeon chamber opened silently. He walked quietly, so as not to distract the creature inside. She had been working at this experimental potion for weeks now, measuring and timing, so as to make it perfect.
He smiled at the thought, that when all was said and done, she returned to him each night, eager for the glorious oblivion he offered her.
Her hand reached over the simmering cauldron, to shake into the fiery liquid, the contents of the glass bowl she held. Platinum rings winked at him from her well-manicured fingers, giving him a shiver, as she appeared almost sinister. Silver and gold sparkled at her wrists as dress sleeves ebbed and flowed in time to her movements.
"Alex says the rumors are true. That you-know-who is back and mixing up trouble such as no one would have thought even He was capable of." His voice was low and calm despite his words.
Although she gave no indication that she had heard him, she lifted her eyes to his face as she prepared to add the next ingredient to the steaming concoction. Something in those stormy depths urged him to continue.
"He said Unicose is no longer safe. We are to be transferred to another school to continue our training. Somewhere He would never think of attacking."
"He has a name, you know.&q She She spoke calmly, as if they were discussing the Quidditch game next month.
"Alex recognizes that England will fall soon. That it will be up to us, to help stop him."
She turned away from her cauldron. Reaching around herself, she untied the strings to her apron, and then hung it on the peg in the wall. Walking over to the sink, she pushed the nose of the gargoyle and water came out of it’s mouth. Washing her hands, she asked, "And what of England’s great savior? The Boy Who Lived? Has Alex no hope for him?"
"Alex says that he is too well protected to do any good. That he has done all he can, and that his connection with the Dark Lord has now become a hindrance."
"And mine is not?" She turned on him suddenly. "Am I not more of a hindrance, as my loyalties have never been tested? Has it not been speculated, openly, that given the chance I would revert to my blood and betray my friends?"
"Yes it has, but, I for one would rather have you by my side in battle, knowing that, then all the aurors in the world." He walked over to her, and put his arms around her. "My love, I would trust you to walk into the gates of Hell, to stand guard, knowing that you could not hold back the evil there. But this is not the evil of hell. This is the evil of man. And that you can hold back, even stop, should you but try."
He reached up and cupped her cheek, before running his hand down and rubbing the swell of her breast, tattooed with a European dragon, then fingering the gold and emerald four-leaf clover necklace she wore. "You are my Lucky charm, and I have seen you do amazing things in the name of good. Now let’s do something good for the whole of our people, Lucky."
"And if you are wrong?"
"Hey, I’m into transfiguration; not Divination. I leave that to Spinner. I’m just saying that we should take a chance. That is what life is all about, right?" He looked at her. "You aren’t about to let this one go, are you?"
She huffed. "I hate being manipulated. I really do." Turning away from him, she returned to the pegs where her cloak was. "But you may have ta me me into it. I think it may be a good time for me to return to England. Time to finish what my mother started."
S
She stopped. Looking at him she smiled. "What do ya say we raise some hell, huh, Quills?"
