Another Snape/Mary-Sue Fanfiction That’s Really Just An Excuse to Write Smut
Story
By Oktober Black
This little fic was inspired by… oh, a whole lot ‘o’
stuff. I hope it works for you.
*********************
It was a hot summer day in Toronto when Amanda Bloom and I
finally met. Amanda and I were Internet
buddies, having met on a fansite for, first, Harry Potter in general, and then
graduating to a Severus Snape site in particular. Our relationship went from mere acquaintances, who passed by in
chat rooms here and there, to full-blown buddies who IMed constantly. We also worked on fanfics together, none of
which were fit for public consumption.
Generally, we liked our Snape smut as smutty as possible and rather
personal, so we wrote and wrote and wrote, and never posted. I had no real idea what she looked like, as
all I had of her was a rather blurry picture of her in first year university. She had driven up from Chicago, where she
was going to graduate school and TA’ing during the summer, because she had two
weeks off at the end of August before school started again in the fall. Sam, my husband, and I had just bought a
house, so we had a spare room for her to stay in. Sam, on the other hand, was heading off north for a week for a
camping trip with some buddies from university. So it was just going to be a “girls” week here in TO – shopping,
drinking, and giggling over Alan Rickman movies and our favourite fictional
character, Severus Snape.
When Amanda finally arrived, I was just pulling on my jeans,
having awakened late that day and having spent the better part of it puttering
around in my pyjamas getting the house ready for her visit.
“Shit!” I
exclaimed, as the doorbell rang. “That
must be her!” I grabbed for the first
thing I had handy – a white tank top – and threw it on, thinking a bra could
wait until later. I was too eager to
get to the door (and besides, it was a pretty thick material). I ran my fingers through my shoulder length
dark-brown hair, trying to get it to settle back into place, and then ran out
to answer the door. I threw open the
front door and smiled at the woman standing on the stoop. She was taller than me by about two inches,
so about 5’8”, lon long blonde hair in a thick braid down her back. She was wearing a pink Hello Kitty tank top
and a short pink denim mini-skirt, a pair of pink flip-flops with chunky heels
adorning her feet. She looked tired but
really happy to be there.
“Hi!” she
said, and grinned back at me.
“Come on
in, Amanda!” I said, standing back so she could enter my home.
We settled down in
the living room with big blender drinks, dinner ordered (Indian) and on it’s
way, chatting about her drive up. I’d bought
a big stack of magazines for us to flip through and had a number of movies for
us to watch, including the latest Harry Potter flick, Prisoner of Azkaban,
as Goblet of Fire wasn’t out on DVD yet.
“So… I have
to say it… Snape!” I said.
“Gah!” she said
and I laughed. She giggled and sipped
her drink.
“It’s so
much better in person, y’know?”
“Yeah. Speaking of better in person… You know that
fanfic we wrote together? Where we did
that spell and we were in the Potterverse?
I wonder if that spell would actually work?” she mused. I sighed.
“Not
likely. But what if… what if the
planets and stuff were perfectly in conjunction?”
p;
And there was a hush in the universe, as if everything
was listening carefully.
“What? You mean, like all the planets were aligned
and something both scientific and magical were actually able to happen?” Amanda
asked. I nodded, sipping carefully.
The hush grew, the stillness grew, as the universe waited
for its cue.
“Yeah. Like, in Labyrinth, where the goblins
waited for the magic words. Where all we would need is to say the magic words
and we really could conjure Snape,” I said.
“But what
would those words be?” Amanda asked.
Now it was as though the stars themselves were holding
their collective breaths.
“Well,
they’d have to be simple, wouldn’t they?
I mean, it was overcomplicating things that caused problems in Labyrinth,”
I said, pouring some more pina colada into my glass from the blender.
“Okay. Like this?
I wish that Severus Snape were here, right now,” Amanda said.
“Sure,” I
said. “That might work.”
And still the universe held its breath, waiting,
waiting.
“Damn. That didn’t work, obviously. Okay, what about this? I command Severus Snape to appear before us
in all his glory and terror! Ow,
dammit,” I said, dropping my glass on the carpet.
“What
happened?” Amanda asked. There was a
crash of thunder and suddenly the heavens opened up and it started to pour
outside.
“Oh, my
glass cracked and I cut myself,” I said, watching the blood drip from my
finger. Amanda reached for the glass to
clean i. And then the lights went out.
It was as if the universe said “finally.”
“Damn. The lightning must’ve struck something. I’ll find a flashlight,” I said. “Stay put.
You don’t want to step on that glass.”
“Okay,”
Amanda said from the darkness. I could
just make out her features in the gloom from the rain outside – the sun hadn’t
yet gone down but it was as dark as night out there because of the rain. I felt my way to the kitchen for the
flashlight and returned just as the lightning flashed again, illuminating the
living room. I saw Amanda near the
coffee table… and someone else? But no
one else could be there. I turned on
the flashlight but it didn’t work. Damn. This was like some weird kind of horror
flick.
“Hold
on. I have to find a candle,” I
said. “Wish I had a wand…” I
muttered. Amanda laughed.
“Me
too.” I found a couple of candles in
the kitchen by feel once again, and some matches, and lit one, holding it
carefully so it wouldn’t go out as I carried it to the living room. I put it down on the coffee table and lit
the other candle I had from it. I
looked around the room, but there didn’t seem to be anyone there now. Weird.
Then I went to clean up the blood and broken glass. The blood wasn’t where I thought it had
dripped, which was even weirder.
“Hey, what happened to the
blood?” I wondered.
“It’s not there?
Weird. But the glass is still
here.” Amanda bent down to help me. We
scooped up the glass into a wastebasket and cleaned up the spilled drink with
paper towels; then I got another drink, found more candles and lit them in the
living room until the room was fairly bright.
mal> “Well, we
won’t be able to watch movies, but we can still chat and drink,” I said and
Amanda smiled wanly. “Hey, it’s not
that bad. I mean, we ordered take out
so I don’t have to cook or anything and it should be already on its way here.”
“Yeah,
that’s true,” she said, brightening up a bit.
And then there was another huge flash of lightning and a gust of cold,
wet wind blew through the living room, as if a window were open, and the candles
all went out, plunging us into darkness once again.
“Okay, this
is getting creepy,” Amanda said from the other side of the couch. I nodded, even though I knew she couldn’t
see me.
“I did
leave the window open though,” I said, getting up to close it. “I mean, it was so hot all day yesterday and
now it’s cooling down I thought a breeze would be…” And the lightning flashed again and this time, there was someone
there. Someone standing right in front
of the open window, dripping with water from being out in the rain. “Holy shit…”
“What is
it? Oh my God! Who is it!?” Amanda screamed and I backed away from the window. An intruder in my house? When Sam wasn’t there? Oh fuck…
I looked around the room wildly for something to protect us with and
grabbed the first thing I could find – the floor lamp in the corner. I brandished it at the intruder.
“Who the
fuck are you and what do you want?” I yelled at him. He seemed to stagger a bit, as if getting his bearings after
emerging from the storm, but he didn’t answer.
I pulled at the lamp, pulling out the cord from the wall so I could get
closer to him. “Get out of my
house! Get the fuck out of my house or
I’ll make you sorry you ever even considered coming in here!” Amanda stood behind me, her hands on my
shoulders, watching from behind me. He
didn’t respond, but merely seemed to pull himself up a bit. One hand went into his coat – was he
reaching for a gun? I thrust the lamp
at him in defence. His hand came up at
the same time and I felt a shock run through me as the lamp seemed to leap from
my hands to smash against the wall. “Oh
my God!”
“Shit!”
Amanda exclaimed as we backed away quickly.yes"> “Simply ridiculous.”
“Why don’t
you use magic to dry yourself off?” Amanda asked and then she clamped her hands
over her mouth. I shot her a look and
she shook her head, aghast that she’d dared to ask him such a question.
“Because…” he
began, pulling off his cloak and jacket and laying them across the back of a
chair. “Because it seems my magic is
unreliable here… wherever ‘here’ is.”
He shot us a look as he rubbed his hair down with the towel and then
stopped. “Where is here? And who are you? And why am I here?”
“Uh…”
Amanda started and I just stood looking at him. His scent… well, it was a bit over powered by his wetness, but it
was lovely. Just as I’d imagined it…. “Terra?”
“Uh,
yeah. You’re here, in my home. I’m Terra… uh, Terra Marks and this is Amanda
Bloom. And this is my house.”
“Uh, and
it’s a different universe from the one you come from,” Amanda conjeed aed and I
blinked. Of course it would have to be.
“Well, of
course. Otherwise, the basic rules of
magic would still apply and I’d be able to get myself out of this mess,” he
snarled at us, throwing down the towel.
“Now, put me back and I won’t have to… get nasty.”
“I don’t
think we can,” Amanda said in a small voice and he glowered at her.
“And why
not? You must have been the ones to
bring me here. Put me back!”
“I don’t
think we did bring you here!” I protested.
“I mean, sure we made a wish or something, but that doesn’t really ever
happen. Only in books and movies and…”
“I guess it
did work,” Amanda said. Snape looked
from her to me.
“Oh for
Merlin’s sake. You mean you conjured me
somehow but you don’t know how you did it?
Amateurs,” he grumbled, sitting down on one of my chairs.
“Uh, can I
get you something? A drink or something?”
I asked, thinking that if I couldn’t send him home then perhaps I could at
least get him drunk. I didn’t really
have a plan, but I was beginning to formulate the beginnings of one…
“A
drink? I suppose so…” he mused, pulling
off his socks and shoes.
“Or a hot
bath? And I could hang up your clothing
to dry. Sam has some stuff that might
fit you in the meantime,” I suggested and Amanda looked at me, her eyes very
wide. Snape, taking a bath, in the same
house as us? How… delicious.
“Very well. As I’m soaked to the skin and unable to do
much about it, I shall have to take you up on that offer,” he said, standing
up. He was now barefoot and his white
feet shone from under his black trouser legs.
“Where is this bath?”
“Uh, this
way,” I said, leading him to our master bath.
Sam and I didn’t have a lot of money to remodel, but we’d saved up
enough to re-do the main bathroom with a three person Jacuzzi tub and a huge
glassed-in shower. I led him to the
bathroom, and gave him one of Sam’s bathrobes to wear when he was done. “Here’s a better towel and here’s the soap
and stuff…” He looked askance at the
taps. “You turn them to get the water
and then turn them the other way when you’ve filled the tub. This button makes the water bubble and this
one shoots hot air in the water. You
run the bath and I’ll bring you a drink.”
And I headed out of the bathroom, making sure the door didn’t lock
behind me. I ran into the living room,
only to find that Amanda had his cloak in her hands and was trying to sniff it
without getting to wet from it.
“I’ll get
you a hanger – it’ll be easier to smell it when it’s hanging.” She giggled at
me a bit.
“Do you
think the scent will stay in it when it’s dry?
I mean, it’s like washing it…”
“Hey I
don’t know. Just look at it this way –
you’ve finally got his cloak. Now, what
do I give him to drink?” I mused, heading into the kitchen. “I can’t give him one of our blender drinks
- that’s too girlie.” Amanda followed
me into the kitchen after hanging up Snape’s cloak and jacket.
“What do
you have?”
“Vodka,
rum, rye… and some liqueurs, like Drambuie and Bailey’s. I don’t know what he’d want. I suppose I could run out and get some
brandy…”
“Why don’t
you ask him?”
“Ask
him?” I shivered. “He’s a bit frightening in real life. I can’t believe he’s here.spanspan>How is this even possible? I mean, nothing I’ve ever done in my life
has prepared me for this. Nothing.”
“I don’t
know. You write a lot of fanfiction and
you read a lot of fantasy and sci fi and stuff. That should have made you a bit more… pliable for this kind of
thing.” She looked at the bottles. “I need another drink.”
“The
power’s back on. Here’s the rum. The ice and mix are in the freezer. Make me one too, will ya? I’ll go ask… him what he wants to drink,” I
said, heading back to the bathroom. I
knocked on the door tentatively. “Uh,
Professor?” The door was flung open. Snape stood there in Sam’s light blue
terrycloth bathrobe, his wet clothing in his arms.
“Here,” he
said, dumping it in my arms. I held it
to me, my legs feeling jelly like as I considered that he was now nude under
the bathrobe. He went to shut the door
again.
“Uh, wait a
second,” I called and he stopped.
“You wanted
something more?”
“What did
you want to drink? I’ve got vodka, rum,
rye, Drambuie and Bailey’s.”
“What on
earth is rye?”
“It’s
basically Canadian whiskey. It’s
Canadian Club, so it’s pretty good stuff.
Or I can go out and get you some brandy, but I don’t know if the liquor
store’s open still. And I wouldn’t know
what kind to get,” I continued. He shot
me a look and I realized I was babbling.
My mouth snapped shut and he waited until he was sure I was finished.
“I will
have the rye. Bring the bottle… I have
a feeling I’m going to need it,” he said and then the door snapped shut in my
face. I practically ran back to the
kitchen, stopping in the living room to pick up his socks first.
“What did
he say?” Amanda asked, dropping another can of ice cubes into the blender and
turning it on. I waited until she was
done to answer.
“Rye. He wants the bottle. I guess I should get him a glass… and
ice? Would he want it on ice?” I hesitated for a moment, scanning the
room. She looked at me.
“This isn’t
happening. There isn man man in your
bath who looks and sounds like Severus Snape.
I mean, he’s a fictional character for God’s sake!”
“I know, I
know. But he’s there. Unless he’s a really good fake. I mean, he did do magic when he first came
here, didn’t he? He made the lamp jump
out of my hands with his wand. But he
couldn’t do the Lumos spell. I don’t
know what to make of all this!” I sank
to the floor, leaning up against the fridge.
Amanda knelt down next to me.
“Don’t have
a meltdown. I need you, Terra.” She put a hand on my shoulder. “We’ll figure this out. If he has the dark mark, then we’ll know for
sure he’s not just some freak imitating Snape.”
“But can we
ever really be sure? I mean, why’d he
come here… if he were some kind of sick freak, how would he know that two fans
of Snape were here? That would be too
strange. And he’s not trying to steal
anything. In fact, he gave me his
clothing,” I said, looking down at the bundle of clothing still in my
arms. “I’d better get this into the
wash…”
“You can’t
wash the trousers – they’d need to be dry cleaned if they’re wool,” Amanda said
and I sighed, standing up.
“Yeah, I
know.” Then a thought occurred to
me. “His underwear… it must be
here.” She looked at me, aghast.
“Oh…
yeah.” We ran to the laundry room with
his clothing, dumping it onto the washing machine and then scrambling through
it. Shirt, trousers, vest, socks…
bingo! Black silk boxers. Just what I thought he’d wear. “Oh…” Amanda sighed, holding them up to the
light. “How beautiful.”
“They’ll
have to be hand washed,” I mused.
“I’ll do
it!” Amanda said, heading for the washtubs.
“You go take him his drink. I’ll
hang up his trousers and vest, and put his shirt in the dryer with his socks.”
“Sure,” I
answered, heading back to the kitchen for the rye. I went to my cabinet of good china and glass, ch, choosing a
cut-glass tumbler for him, and then grabbed the bottle. I balanced the bottle and glass as I knocked
on the door.
“Come in,”
he said, his dark chocolate voice rumbling through the door. I sighed a bit, the sound of his voice
making me shiver. I opened the door and
found him… in the tub. He was nude but
the tub was full of bubbles, so I couldn’t see anything beyond his shoulders
and upper chest. His skin was pale with
a light dusting of black hair and I could just see his nipples… “Is that my drink?” he asked, and I realized
I was staring. He looked at me; I
looked back at him, unable to say anything.
I was stunned by the sight of his skin, and his lovely hair and his
beautiful face… Something changed in
his eyes as he looked at me; an almost predatory look came over him and I
wondered what he was thinking.
“Uh…
yeah. Here’s the bottle and here’s a
glass,” I said, thrusting them out to him.
“Pour
some,” he commanded and I put the glass down on the vanity, opening the bottle
with shaking hands. He noticed.
“You are
shaking,” he said, his voice low, almost a purr. I swallowed nervously as I poured him his drink, splashing some
on the counter. “Clumsy girl,” he
chided in that same low voice. I closed
my eyes, trying to regain my composure.
Then I picked up the glass, willing my hands to stop shaking and walked
over to the bath to hand it to him. Don’t
think about it, don’t think about it, I willed myself. Don’t think about what’s hiding there
underneath the bubbles. I thrust
the glass out to him and he smirked slightly before reaching out. One hand took the glass – the other grabbed
my hand and held on, tightly. “I
believe I am beginning to realize why I was brought here.” He pulled on my arm, hard, and I cried out
slightly as I was pulled down to his level.
“Foolish girl. You are playing
with something very dangerous and you don’t even realize it.” I could feel his
breath in my ear and I tried to stop myself from passing out. Breathe, breathe. “Leave the bottle on the side of the tub
when you go.” He let me go abruptly and
I almost fell forward into the tub with him, just barely regaining my balance
in time. I grabbed the bottle and put
it down on the side of the tub as he asked, and then ran out of the bathroom,
slamming the door behind me. I thought
I could just hear him chuckle evilly to himself as I left. My heart was racing and my breath was
short. I just made it to the couch
before my legs gave out on me. Amanda
was just coming back from the laundry room.
“Terra! Are you all right?”
“No, No…
He’s evil. I mean it. He’s just… Oh God. I think I’m dying here.” I was panting and feeling incredibly
weak.
“What did
he do?” she asked, her eyes wide.
“Nothing…
nothing really. He just… I think he
knows how we… feel about him. I don’t
know how he knows… unless he was using that ability he has to read minds,” I
said.
“Stay
there. I’ll get you a drink,” she said,
heading into the kitchen. She came back
with two huge glasses of pina colada.
She sat down next to me and we were silent for a moment, drinking and
thinking. “God. What are we going to do?”
“I don’t
know. Even without his magic, he’s the
one with the power here,” I said, shivering a bit. The drink was helping, I was sure of it, even though I was
getting brain freeze from it. We sat on
the couch, drinking silently for a bit.
“Okay. Let’s think logically about this,” Amanda
finally began.
“Logically? About something so insane?” She shot me a look. “Okay, okay. Go ahead.”
“Okay. If what we think happened actually happened,
then at the precise moment we were wishing for him to appear here, something
aligned or the universes opened up and he was brought here. And we don’t know how and he doesn’t know
how, so we don’t know how to get him back.”
“That’s
about right,” I said, drinking some more.
“But how that’s logical, I don’t know.”
“Terra! Let me finish. It stands to reason that someone in his universe will eventually
notice he’s missing. Dumbledore, or
someone, will start looking for him, I’ll bet and then they’ll come and get
him. So we don’t have to worry about
getting him back. It’ll just happen.”
“What if
they can’t find him? What if they can’t
get him back? I can’t have him here when
Sam gets home next weekend and you can’t take him back with you to
St
States. I mean, he doesn’t have a
passport or anything. He doesn’t even
have any money or ID.” I shook my
head. “I hope you’re right and I hope
they find him soon.”
“You really
mean that? I mean, we’ve got our
heart’s desire here and you’d just wish it away again?” she asked, looking at
me intently over her drink. I
considered this for a bit, sipping silently.
“I don’t
know. I mean, yeah, I’d fuck him in a
minute. It’s like breathing these days,
I want him so much. But I don’t know
that I could handle him either. I mean,
he’s a bit… more than I thought he would be.
His presence… it’s overwhelming.”
“Yeah. I know what you mean. That’s why I’ve been sending you to the bathroom
to bring him stuff,” she said and I laughed.
“That’s not
fair! You have to deal with him
too! I can’t be the only one dying
here!” I exclaimed and she laughed, sipping her drink.
“Anyway,
how long do you think it’ll take for us to… be okay enough with him to actually
do anything with him? You know… fulfill
the fantasy?”
“I don’t
know… a day? An evening? I haven’t a fucking clue, really,” I said,
feeling a bit bolder now that I mos most of my drink in me. “But fucking is the whole point here, isn’t
it? Fucking him?”
“How
crudely put,” came a deep voice behind me and I found myself choking on my
drink. Amanda squeaked and jumped as I
coughed my guts out. I put my drink
down and she thumped me on the back. I
waved her away, tears streaming down my face and we both turned to look behind
us. Snape was standing there, bottle
and glass in his hands, wearing the light blue bathrobe. He had a strange expression on his face – it
was nasty but it looked like he was trying not to laugh. I finally was able to catch my breath as he
settled himself in an easy chair across from us. He put the bottle and glass down on the end table next to him,
pouring himself another half-tumbler full of rye. Then he slowly sipped his drink, his eyes never leaving us. I didn’t know what to say. I wanted to sink into the ground. How incredibly embarrassing. Amanda was sitting next to me, clutching her
drink so tightly I thought I was going to lose another glass. Finally, Snape spoke. “Crude, but accurate. How fascinating that a couple of silly
muggle women such as yourselves would find me to be the object of your
desire. And how did you come to this
realization?” The sarcasm dripped from
his voice and I winced.
“We… we,
uh, read some books and they had you in them and… and…” Amanda began, her voice
tremulous and high.
“Some
books? How exciting for you. And I was in them? Well, well. And what
books were these?” he asked, his eyes slightly hooded and his voice growing
even more sarcastic. He sipped his
drink expectantly.
“Uh… Harry
Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban?” Amanda said, as if unsure of the names
of the books. “And uh… there was The
Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. And uh…”
“Enough. That name is enough to make me ill,” he
snapped, one hand up to stop us.
Amanda’s mouth snapped shut. She
looked like she was about to cry. “And
how did you come to think that I would be… receptive to your advances should
your conjuration be successful?”
“What?” I
said, looking at him in confusion.
“Which word
didn’t you understand?” he hissed at me and I blinked.
“I… I… We
didn’t conjure you here! All we said
was that we wished you were here with us.
We didn’t expect anything to come out of it. I mean, we’ve said the same thing at least a hundred times before
and nothing happened!” I protested.
“You’re
avoiding the question. Answer me. Why did you think that you would even be
attractive to me? That I would be…
sexually responsive to you?” We looked
at him in horror. “Did you really
believe me as desperate as all that?”
“No! No, of course not. We… uh…” I started. But
the horror of it was overwhelming me. I
turned to Amanda and could see the tears starting in her eyes as well. We must not cry, that’ll make it worse,
I thought, trying to hold back the tears.
Because he was right, of course.
Incredibly nasty about it, but right.
Why should he find us attractive at all? Just because we found him to be incredibly desirabdidndidn’t mean
it had to be reciprocal. I sipped my
drink, trying to cover up my sinking feeling of horror. Amanda couldn’t take it though.
“I’m
sorry!” she whispered, and she fled to her room, slamming the door behind
her. Snape merely smirked from his
seat. I stood up.
“Excuse
me,” I said, heading into the kitchen.
“Women,” he
muttered as I left. I could almost
imagine him rolling his eyes at us, but I didn’t look back to see.
