Unfortunately I don’t own the characters, but I do own the plot.
Prologue – Binding ceremony.
It was the last thing anyone would expect. Hell it’s the
last thing to ever expect.
But it’s happening, it’s happening right now, right at this
very moment, and it’s not being done willingly…well as un-willing as it can be
without fearing the worst……
“Are you sure about this?” a soft voice questioned as a hand
was rested on a tense boy’s shoulder.
It wasn’t hard to see that the boy was tense, that he was
uneasy. He stood silently at the large wooden door, struggling to control at
least some form of something – anything that will reassure him of his choice.
He nodded, raising a shaky hand to grasp the handle; he
closed his eyes tightly as his teeth itched to bite his lower lip, his stomach
already tightening into a sorrow pained knot. But he had to act calm, for his
friend’s sake, for his sake.
Taking a deep breath and resting his hand on the cold metal
handle. Straightening his shoulders, his mask rose and covered all expressions
until there was nothing showing but a blank and determined face.
Pushing the handle down and door open, with little strength,
he stepped in, behind him his closest friends closed
the door quietly.
He scanned the room. They were all here…this was it.
His sights landed on the other boy who was standing in the
corner, his head down but one could visibly see the frown and disapproval on
his face.
They were both against this, but both had no choice, it had
to be done.
Again he took a deep breath and looked away from the other
boy, his sights now landed on the elderly man that stepped forward, blue eyes
no longer twinkling, face set in a solemn expression.
“Harry, are you sure about this?” his voice was caring yet
the underline could be heard, he didn’t want to do this either.
Harry nodded, ignoring that knot that tightened in his
stomach, his palms were slightly clammy but he showed no emotion, he couldn’t
back out in this. He’d never forgive himself; no matter how hard this was for
him to do he couldn’t walk away from it.
“I’m sure. Let’s do this” there was no emotion in his voice
as he spoke, Dumbledore sighed audibly, his posture slightly slumped in defeat
as he nodded his understanding.
“Alright. Everyone please take your
rightful positions” he ordered, his voice sounding defeated as he cast one more
glance to Harry.
Harry nodded and walked further into the room. On the ground
was the large outline of the ‘Star of David,’ in the star’s corners rested
large amethyst crystals.
Still the boy in the corner didn’t budge, instead his form
tensed further as his eyes clenched tighter. His teeth bitting down hard on the
inside of his cheek, he couldn’t do this…but he had to, he knew he had to. He
did not want to do this, but there was no choice, or at least there was a
choice but this one was the safest.
A hand rested on his shoulder causing him to jump and snap
his eyes open.
“Are you alright?” it was a non-emotional voice that asked
the question. Lifting his gaze he met ink black eyes with his own stormy grey.
Severus Snape was standing in front of him, his voice
showing no emotion, his face plain, but his eyes showed a struggle, a raging
war with concern, anger and understanding.
At first he couldn’t speak knowing his voice would crack,
slowly he nodded forcing a mask to cover his emotions.
“I’ll be fine” he spoke below a whisper, shrugging the hand
off his shoulder he moved forward into the ‘Star of David’ centre where Harry
stood stiffly.
Their eyes locked for only a split second and in that second
emotions flooded openly to the other, there was discomfort, pain, anger, hatred
and disgust but also acceptance yet only a small amount.
“Is everyone in position?” Dumbledore’s voice broke the
heavy silence, he was standing at the top of the ‘Star of David,’ his wand out
and pointed at the two boys, there was a corse of ‘Yes’s’ and nods. Each person
– the majority of six, not including the two boys in the centre- where all
standing in front of each crystal leaving the amethysts behind them as they
each looked to the two boys with their wands raised.
Taking a deep breath the man turned back to the two teens in
the middle.
“Let’s begin” he spoke softly, his eyes dim as he watched
both boys as they reluctantly took the other’s hands.
Slowly he began his spell.
“Fire, Water, Earth, Air. I call forth the elemental magic
for aid. Bind these two boys in mind, body, heart and soul, bind these boy’s
together for eternity. Fire in spirit, Water in acceptance, Earth in stability
and Air in eternity, I call forth the elemental magic for aid, bind these boy’s
in mind, body, heart and soul.” (2)
At first the chant was low in key and in singular voice, but
slowly it grew to louder notes and soon other voices joined the chant all in
different areas of the spell to make it unrecognisable on who was speaking what
section.
The amethyst crystals began to glow a brilliant white as the
tips of each persons wand - that was pointed at the two boys - began to shoot
out beams of red that wrapped around the forms.
The boy’s eyes closed, the red beams circling them giving
warmth, the magic searched them, read their minds and hearts, their grip on
each other tightened unnoticed by the other as they struggled to stand strong
in the sudden gale that picked up around them, soon their voices rose in
whispers, first Harry’s.
“Fire, Water, Earth, Air, I Harry James Potter ask for your
aid, bind me mind, body, heart and soul to Draco Taniel Malfoy.” (1) (2)
Across from his Draco’s voice joined the chant.
“Fire, Water, Earth, Air, I Draco Taniel Malfoy ask for your aid, bind me mind, body, heart and soul to
Harry James Potter.”
There voices joined in a higher chant “Join us in mind,
body, heart and soul, we call forth the elemental magic, Fire in spirit, Water
in acceptance, Earth in stability and Air in eternity, we pledge allegiance and
ask for aid, bind us in mind, body, heart and soul.” (2)
The wind picked up, the red beams from the wands enlarging
and wrapped tighter around the two boys as each white beam from the crystals
shot into the air, all from different points on the star, each meeting in the
air above the two boys before plummeting down onto them, the red beams
vanishing as the white ones hid both children from sight.
Each person watched, unmoving as the beams covered the boys,
the wind picking up to an alarming speed almost knocking them off balance but
they held the gaze, their chanting back to a soft whisper this time all in sync
with the other.
Then suddenly it all stopped, the magic beams vanished, the
wind died down, the chants ceased and all eyes were glued on the two boys that
had collapsed in a heap on the ground, both unconscious, their hands still
clasped tightly together.
Dumbledore stepped forward with saddened eyes “It is complete, they have been bound to the ot”
