It started off as a normal summer, at least as normal as one of my summers at the Dursley's could be. The day things changed was the day I was sent out into the backyard to repaint the fence-again. I just finishing up, wiping off the sweat from my forehead when I was suddenly attacked by a paralysis spell. It was only one week into my summer vacation, how messed up was that? Voldemort and his Death Munchers were behind it of course. Apparently when he took my blood to resurrect himself, the blood protections on my aunt's home were canceled out- so they apparently wouldn"t work for me anymore. Nice of Dumbledore to warn me huh? The Fidelous charm on the headquarters no longer hid me either because Bella and Cissa finally remembered the Black Family home when Sirius died, and they didn't inherit it.
I escaped of course- once again all on my own with no help from my "friends", and ended up in Hogwarts for the rest of the summer vacation on Dumbledore's orders. After spending a few days moping in the Common Room I decided to check out the Chamber of Secrets to see if there was anything hidden in there that Voldemort never found, you know"something to pass the time.
I wasn't hoping for anything obviously, I just wanted someplace to hide from everyone else really. It was a couple of days into my exploration that I found something interesting- something I don't think anyone else would have been able to find. It was in the smaller chambers, an innocent and rather boring looking sitting room. I had just walked past a bust of Salazar Slytherin's head while singing a muggle song- in parseltounge incidentally- that had gotten stuck in my head that summer, and then the next thing I knew the wall had slide back and revealed a room full of mirrors. The whole thing was very Secret Gardenish if you ask me- a hidden room inside a hidden chamber. Oddly enough, the password was We Are One- not something you would expect a Slytherin to use"
If I had known then what was going to happen when I touched the first mirror, I don't know if I would have done so. But you cant change the past can you? Not that I would want to"not now anyway.
An hour later I was stepping off the bus, waving goodbye and in a slightly better mood thanks to all the friendly chatting I had done with a nice old witch. She had filled me in on all the latest wizarding gossip- not once was my kidnapping mentioned. I made my way slowly towards Gringotts, careful to avoid Knockturn Ally and anyone who seemed to interested in me- you never know who's might be a Death Eater- or hell a spy for Dumbledore.
When I got to Gringotts there weren't many people around, a few foreign witches and wizards popping in to withdraw money, and of course the goblins. I headed straight for the counter me and Hagrid had used in my first year- recognizing the goblin sitting behind it. I cleared my throat and he looked up.
"Anything I can do for you?"
"Yes, I would like to visit the Potter Vault please."
"Key?" I pulled it out of my pocket, already prepared. He grimaced but turned to yell at another goblin I recognized. "Griphook! Take Mr. Potter to his vault."
What followed was of course the same spine tingling ride through the caverns I had come to expect from all my other trips down there, what I didn't expect was the sheer amount of money waiting for me. It had more then tripled in amount.
"Where did all the money come from?"
"Mr. Black left you half of his money and his estate."
"Where did the other half go?"
"To a Mr. R.J Lupin."
I smiled, that was Sirius alright- always looking out for his friends. He would never have left me alone with Death Eaters for a week like Dumbledore. After grabbing enough money to see me through the rest of the summer, and a little extra, I headed back out of the vault. My next stop would be to exchange some of the wizarding money for Pounds and finally go get myself some new clothes- maybe even a whole new look.
My first sight of the inside of a muggle shopping center rather surprised me, never having actually been in one the sheer size was surprising- they didn't look that big on TV. I wondered around for awhile, not finding any store with clothes I liked till I spotted a place called Hot Topic- it was the baggy black pants and long black coat that reminded me of Spike's off that American show called Buffy the vampire Slayer. I walked towards the store, almost like I had been hypnotized and started looking around.
"Can I help you?"
I flipped around, blushing a bit at being caught staring like a little kid in a candy store. "Yes I need a new wardrobe."
The pretty Gothic looking girl- with rainbow colored hair might I add- clapped her hands and grinned almost evilly "OH! A complete make over! Follow me." she then proceeded to move from section to section, grabbing clothes off the racks and muttering under her breath about trim waists and broad shoulders. I'll admit I followed her around like a lost puppy-not quite sure how to handle her until she stopped and shoved like eight pairs of pants, ten shirts, five dress shirts, and two pairs of shoes at me and pushed me into the changing rooms.
Not knowing what else to do I started to try them all on. I must admit I rather liked the styles, so when I came out of the changing room I chose some more in the same styles, adding some belts and arm cuffs before thanking her and paying for them- I barely made a dent in my money. So I moved on to the next store, J C Penny and bought boxers, socks, wife-beaters, and a leather trench coat- all pretty normal clothes for a teenager. The next store I stopped in was called Spencers, where with the help of a guy with more piercings on his face then I had ever seen before, helped me pick out accessories- like spiked chokers, more arm cuffs and bands, earrings and necklaces to go with my new clothes. I even bought a black light and posters to go with it at his suggestion-though I wasn"t sure how I was going to use them at Hogwarts...
After walking through the mall in search of a food cart, I came across a piercing booth and decided to get my left ear, eyebrow, lip, tongue, and nose pierced. Let's see how the guys at school dealt with this! It hurt of course, but no where near as bad as what I had been through the last couple days. After that I went to the bathrooms near the food court and changed into one of my new outfits, baggy black skater pants and a black wife-beater, with a black dress shirt open over it- topped of course with the "Spike' coat to give it some style.
Walking out I spotted a girl coming out of a Hair Salon- she had some really cool red and black streaks in her blonde hair- I wanted to try it. So I went in, told the hair dresser to have fun and came out with a wicked looking a new style, which ended up being short, spiked and tipped silver. I left the mall after that, feeling a little bored with it, shrinking all of my purchases and traveling back to Diagon Alley to get wizarding supplies.

I laughed and picked up a few bottles, This oughtta keep Ron and Hermione from snooping too much. Next I moved back towards the books, there were so many new spells just waiting to be learned! I spent the most time there, picking out books on advance Defense spells, Dueling, Potions, Charms, and Transfiguration. All subjects I was good in. Next I looked for new subjects, things they probably wouldn't try and teach me at Hogwarts, but that I should know. I ended up grabbing books called, Learning the Elements and Mastering your inner Ki, Wandless magic, can you do it?, and its partner Magic without a word.
Next I moved towards books on Auror's, just cause the Order and Ministry had let me down didn't mean I didn't still want to learn how to be one. It was better to be over prepared for a battle then under prepared right? I picked up a few books, mainly ones explaining which classes I would need to take, and a few on famous Auror's of the past. I was just heading up to the counter, barely able to hold up the two baskets I was carrying when a chill went down my spine.
I froze and looked around, but no one was near me. The next thing I knew I was standing at the counter with not two, but four baskets full of books in front of me! I looked over the titles as the cashier rang them up and was surprised to see that I had picked up my sixth and seventh year books, along with a condensed set of books on Ancient Runes and Arthmancy and a book that looked like Old English calligraphy. I paid for the books and thanked the man who offered to shrink them for easier carrying before leaving the store. I still wasn't sure why I or even when I had picked up the extra books but I trusted my instincts.
I stopped in the middle of the street, suddenly realizing I would be needing a new trunk to carry my new stuff. I really am going to need a new trunk. Where was that store again? Oh! There it is. Storage of All Types. I moved toward it, glad that it seemed to be empty except for the sales girl.
"How may I help you?" she asked, coming out from behind her counter.
"I need a trunk, preferably one with a lot of sections."
"Right this way! Here is one with ten sections, the first six for storage, the seventh is a complete library, the eight is a full suite including bedroom, walk-in closet, bathroom, sitting room, kitchen and pantry. The last two are plain rooms for whatever you want."
"Are there any charms on the trunk?"
"Oh yes! There is an impervious charm, an element proof charm, and a charm that ties the trunk to your magical signature, so no one can get in unless they are touching you. Plus if you want, the trunk will also shrink to locket size with the touch of the button so you can carry it everywhere."
I grinned, it was perfect! "I will take it."
"That will be 200 galleons sir." she said, looking a little uncertain now- I guess she thought I wouldn't be able to pay. I just pulled out my money and handed it over, giving her a warm smile " Just got my inheritance." she nodded and turned to pack it up for me.
After walking out of store I headed for one of the smaller Apothecary's, I needed some potion supplies. It didn't take me long to gather what I needed, the Hag running the store was eager to make a sale. Next I headed for Ollivander's, it was time to get a second wand- no one would expect me to carry two. He was of course waiting for me, the creepy little bastard. This time I didn't have to go through any wands, he already had one out and ready for me, " I've been expecting you for quite some time Mr. Potter." he said when I asked how he knew. The wand he had me try was eleven inches and was made of a mix of holly, mahogany, and yew with a braided core of basilisk fang, griffin feather, and werewolf hair, soaked in phoenix tears. When I swished it a bright, almost blinding, golden light burst from it. After I paid for the wand and two wand holsters I had spotted on my way in the store, I started to walk back to Gringotts. That's when I saw a wizarding tattoo parlor- I had always wanted a tattoo...
Fuck it, I decided, I'm going to get one, so what if I'm underage-they wont care. So I went in and started looking through the sample books to see if there was anything I liked. Almost ten minutes later I found something, a small white phoenix. Then I flipped the page and saw even more, an Ouroboros, a Grim, and a small Ankh. What the hell, I'll get them all. I paid the guy and sat down in the chairs, explaining what I wanted and where- it hurt like a son of a bitch but when I was done it was so worth it. I now had a small white phoenix with black eyes sitting over my heart, an Ouroboros on my back left shoulder blade, a grim on my right shoulder with Sirius in calligraphy along the Grim's spine-which howled, growled and bared it"s teeth, and an ankh on the back of my neck.
They were healed before I left, so I didn't have to bandage them or worry about infection. I left the parlor and moved back towards Gringotts, I needed to get more money from my vault to exchange for Pounds- mainly so I could have some money in case I needed run or hide in muggle society. After grabbing some more money and exchanging it I went to the Leaky Cauldron to Floo myself to the Three Broomsticks, so I could walk to Hogwarts and see what was up with Dumbledore.
What happened next I'm sure you could all figure out, I arrived and was ushered strait to Professor McGonagall's office. After getting lectured for not going to Hogwarts right away and being told that the Headmaster would want to talk to me in the morning, I finally got sent to the empty Gryffindor Tower. I laughed nearly the entire way there, the look on her face when she had seen my new look was priceless- like she had swallowed a bug! After walking up the stairs I pulled out my new trunk, un-shrunk it and started packing it full of my new stuff before crawling in to sleep in it's bedroom- which was much more comfortable then the Hogwarts beds. My last thought before I fell asleep was, What a fucking fun day"I'll have to up an disappear more often if it's anything like today!
