Chapter 1: Descendant of Darkness
~
Evelin Markein was a tall girl with dark hair and
piercing steel eyes that had been passed through the family for
generations. By the time she was eleven
and off to Hogwarts, she spoke six different languages and was well trained in
all areas of magic, both light and dark.
Her
parent’s beliefs remained constant, and her classmates of the Slytherin House
agreed, the wizarding world needed to be purged. Growing up there was one belief above all saying that muggles
were unworthy of anyone’s time, while Mudbloods and Halfbloods were no better
than scum.
To
Markein Family (a noted pure blood family, dating back to Salazar Slytherin
himself) it was odd that Evelin had taken any interest at all in a Muggle, and
even odder than she would pretend to be nothing more than a mere Muggle
herself. If asked why, she would tell
it was love at first sight. If you were
to ask her parents, they would tell it was her repressed magic making her
temporarily crazy, added with a bad case of lust.
By the time
Evelin was returning home late on a last day of June, she was tired, more so
then at school, where Evelin would be returning in just more two months. Evelin let of a long sigh, as she had done
several times throughout the day. She
could feel herself being pulled by the lies she was telling to Tom, and lies to
his family.
The
Riddle family was a rich family, which was snooty, but well kept, and was much
like the family that Evelin herself had come from. She had met Thomas Vladimir
Riddle on the third day of her break from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and
Wizardry, which she attended for nine months out of the year. Evelin at first sight had been attracted to
the boy. With his dark hair and
charcoal eyes, he was known to be quite a catch among the young girls in the
muggle town that she lived by. To
almost everyone, Tom was spoilt, nasty, and an all around prat, but Evelin
growing up most of her life was the same.
He spoke three other languages, and at seventeen was fit and trim.
Tom’s
father Marvolo Jeran Riddle was a successful lawyer and businessman in the
muggle world, who not only had a large house, paycheck, and corporation, he
also had a large ego, something Evelin’s own father boasted as well. Coming from families of similar backgrounds
and status, Evelin’s feelings were returned when she had only talked to the boy
for a few hours over dinner.
Evelin
was in love and while her family in the Wizarding World had tried several
attempts to break up the young couple it had seemed to fail. Evelin being the young Slytherin she was did
what was best for her, and as soon as she returned from her last year at
Hogwarts, as a fully trained witch, she married Thomas Riddle.
Evelin’s
parents the moment they found out about the wedding were devastated, disowning
Evelin immediately, but leaving her with a few hundred galleons to cover what
she needed.
As
Evelin Riddle, the Slytherin found herself unhappy, and it all lead back to her
parents disowning her, for Thomas Vladimir Riddle loved money above all else;
The money that she would not inherit, and the money that she had to spend to
keep his interest. Evelin even as a
young adult found that she was constantly brought down by cruel words and was
often battered by the once loving Tom Riddle.
When
Evelin reached the young age of twenty-five she was tired, worn out and
pregnant. She had become cool, cruel,
and selfish. The man she had once loved
was gone and been replaced by one that cared nothing for her only for the heir
she was carrying in her belly. Evelin
as much as she hated herself for it, was gone as well, and once the baby came
she would be no more. Every ounce of
the pure undiluted blood that flowed through her veins, kept telling her that
she would fade off, and the reason—Thomas Vladimir Riddle. She had to tell him, tell him what she was,
and what their son would become.
“Thomas…”
Evelin spoke quietly as she entered the large study of the Riddle Mansion.
“What
is it woman?” He was short and to the
point. Evelin blinked and then sighed
resolutely.
“I
have something very important I need to talk to you about.” Evelin blinked again, hopefully, noting how
fast Tom’s headshot up.
“Is
there something wrong with my heir?” A
frown appeared on Evelin’s face.
“No,
this is about me.” Tom rolled his eyes,
and with a loud snort went back into his paper work. Evelin taking a deep breathe, resigned again to tell him
immediately.
“I’m
a witch.” Tom froze, glaring
immediately he looked at her.
“Get
out of my house! Do not come back, and do not bring that horrible child that
you have with here ever. I do not want
it, and I do not want you.” Tom spoke
in a deadly whisper his eyes in narrow slits.
“But
Tom you don’t understand I…” Evelin stopped immediately as Tom advanced on her,
glowering.
“Out!
Now!” His voice was loud and dangerous, Evelin ran. Tears streamed down her face, she was lost now. She could feel it. There was nothing she could do but cry and run.
Weeks
later Evelin found herself, crying out in a small muggle hospital, her legs
propped up, with several doctors and nurses flitting about, whose names she had
forgotten in her pain. Evelin bitterly
closed her eyes and yelled, as the newborn finally found its way out of her
body.
“Nurse
there’s too much bleeding…” Evelin blinked, her body tense and her mind foggy.
“My
Baby,” Evelin coughed out, hoping that that bloody pounding her ears did not
drown out her words. She glanced to her
side noting that the nurse handing her child to her was moving her mouth, but
no sound was coming out of it.
“He
will be named Tom Marvolo Riddle…”
Evelin
stopped coughing violently into her hand, “He will be greater than his father,”
another set of racking coughs, “…. and greater than his father before that…”
Evelin
coughed again as her eyes rolled back into her head, her body still clinging to
the small little boy in her arms, followed by a slow unwavering beep that
consumed the room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The
sun was shining, with not a cloud in the sky, and despite the extra warm
weather for the summer Tom Marvolo Riddle found himself strolling through the
Muggle town, near the orphanage, where he was currently living.
Tom
scowled, he the descendent of Lord Salazar Slytherin, was in a filthy muggle
town, and living with a bunch filthy muggle orphans. Merlin, how he despised them, almost as much as the disgrace of a
father he had.
Towards
the end of his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Tom
had asked Headmaster Dippet, if he could do a location charm and see if his
father was still alive. The Headmaster had a strange fondness for the young
Slytherin, and took pity on him. The
whole event had been a disaster, for when Tom appeared with the Headmaster at
the large Riddle Manor, the proclaimed Marvolo Riddle had turned purple and had
proceeded to scream at Tom until Thomas showed up to see what had happened.
At
that point, Thomas promptly slammed the door in the two wizards faces claiming
that they were not welcome in their house or family.
That
had been the final step in Tom’s mind.
That had been the breaking point.
Muggles were worthless.
Tom
blinked as he was brought back from his thoughts by being plowed into by a girl
around his age. Instinctively catching
her before her fall, he scowled, focusing in on her aura, a talent he had found
he could only do accidentally, no matter how hard he tried.
Tom
blinked in surprise, as the girl flitted about mutter apologies, the girl’s
aura was not white like the rest of the Muggles, but a dark navy shade. Not the strong black that was his own, and
defiantly not the blinding white that muggles had, she was a witch, and she
didn’t even know it.
“What’s
your name?" Tom smirked lazily as
the girl stopped flitting around and smiled at him.
“Rose
Simran, what about you?” She smiled
politely, brushing a lock of her red hair out of her startling green eyes.
“Tom,
Tom Riddle.” And for the first time in years Tom Marvolo Riddle smiled, a
genuine true smile.
By
the time Tom Marvolo Riddle was ready to return to school in September, he had
found himself feeling the unthinkable.
Love.
He
had spent most of his time in the small park by the town with Rose, since Tom
had a very good assumption that Rose’s mother, Margret Lilies-Simran, didn’t
like him that much.
Tom
smiled sadly at Rose, who was crying on the small swing next to him. He would not be coming back; love was
weakness, one that he couldn’t afford, and one that Lord Voldemort couldn’t
afford. Maybe once he had taken over
the world and rid it of the filthy Muggles, maybe then, but not now.
“Goodbye,
love.” With that he was gone and Rose
was left alone, not knowing what was worse: Tom leaving her with child, or
being forced to marry John Evans by her mother, because of it.
Bitterly
looking up, she knew what she would do, she would marry, she would have her
child, and then her child would follow its father to the wizarding world.
