Chapter 1.) A Stolen Glance

"It must be nice, to be really loved..." Harry said suddenly to himself, his eyes looking past at Draco and Severus as students departed the Hogwarts Express for summer vacation. There amongst the masses, they kissed, unashamed with their requited adoration. Harry then gave a lonely look back at Ron and Hermione who were also kissing. And all around people were reuniting with their families. There was joy in the air for the first time in years. The danger was over and everyone was supposed to be happy. Indeed, everyone was happy, and caught up with themselves.

In a way, they all had grown because of the war. They all seemed to have grown away from him. Which was no surprise considering Harry had spent the majority of his years fighting, training, and searching for Horocrux's. He hadn't had much time to bond with very many people...not like everyone else had. And now it seemed only a horrific blur when he met his final task.

He had fought Voldemort.

He had been prepared to die fighting.

Now, the war was over and he'd won. He was alive, but a part of him lost. He'd lost many friends, his family, and he'd fell out with people the ones who couldn't handle what he'd done. They almost feared him. They didn't realize that he had seen many deaths. The didn't realize how sick he felt inside because of it. He was half afraid to even use his wand anymore. No, Harry was no longer innocent to the ways of the world.

Yet, he was here to help build it up.

After the fall of Voldemort, Harry had taken part of many trials. He, and others like Hermione and Ron, had condemned the remaining forces of Voldemort's army. The remaining threats were all either locked up in the remodeled facilities of Azkaban or they had received the kiss.

Those who were proven innocent or shown a capacity to be rehabilitated, had been released, treated, and eventually set free. These were people like Professor Snape who wer acquitted their crimes. Severus had been pardoned of his ties with the Dark Lord, and the death of Dumbledore because of the spying he'd done. The courts had declared that Professor Snape had neither been on the dark side or the light side...He just wanted to be on the surviving side. Younger Death Eaters also got away with minimum sentencing. They were sent to constructed juvenile centers to be rehabilitated to the 'light' by Aurors. The courses had been well dubbed as Dark Arts Anonymous.

Draco was a minor and had been condemned for his roles in the invasion of Hogwarts. He had spent four months in a juvenile center, was required a year of probation, a large fine to be paid to the ministry, and six months of charity which included rebuilding the school. Along with other minors in Voldemorts ranks, the rehabilitated students were improving the school grounds.

Students had finished up their sixth year and now they were going home for their summer vacation with a sense of security. All except for Harry that is.

Maybe it was just the after effects of war, but Harry felt alienated from all of his friends. Everyone saw him in a new light. Many had witnessed the final battle, and they had seen him defeat Voldemort. They were in awe of him. Never had The-Boy-Who-Lived felt like such an outcast. Plus, He was going to go back to his relatives. Back to the abuse. As if on cue-

"Boy!" Uncle Vernon's voice topped over the volume of the reunions. Harry sighed.

He had no where else to go for the summer. Sirius and Remus were dead. Sirius first at the hands of Bellatrix, and then later, Remus to the werewolves. A pang of sorrow hit him, misting his eyes, before he pushed away the feeling. He had to move on. He had loved them dearly and always would.

Harry couldn't stay with the Weasley's because the remaining Weasley's and Hermione were going to travel the states thanks to the money they received as war heroes. And Hogwarts was undergoing construction. Then, staying on his own was out of the question, because he was still underage.

Defeated, Harry turned to his relatives. The pit of his stomach knotted. The summer was sure to be disaster.

As a result of the wide spread war, the Ministry of Magic had put a ban on magic around muggles. They also changed the legal age to use magic freely in muggling communities to 20. It was another repercussion due to juveniles such as Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle. He was as helpless as he'd always been with the Dursley's.

Uncle Vernon cuffed Harry's ear as soon as he was close. Then he was all but dragged him away from Kings Cross, forced to awkwardly run to keep up with his Uncle. He felt dread dropping in his stomach.

"Your kind sent us a letter. It informed us that you weren't to use magic this summer. I've took the liberty of having locks placed in your old room (the cupboard) for your...freak stuff." Vernon said nastily. "For your own good of course...I wouldn't want you to have the temptation of using magic." The large man let out a gurgled of laughter. Harry winced. This summer wasn't going to be good at all.

"Hey, where is Potters family and friends?" Draco asked suddenly, releasing his lover from his tight embrace. His eyes were glued to The-Boy-Who-Lived. Harry stood alone. Severus gave a chuckle.

"As infatuated with him as always." Draco gave a glare and shrugged his shoulders.

"He looks so sad." Draco said softly. Severus pulled the troubled blond to him. The war had changed the Potions Master. And Draco too for that matter. During the war, they'd clung to the only thing they had that was solid, each other.

Severus and Draco had formed a bond nearing the end of the war. The mixture of mutual attraction, loss, loneliness, and the fear of losing their lives had sped up their relationship.
Draco sighed inwardly, he was content this way. Or most of him was.

"Boy!" A loud yell made Draco pull away from his lover to look towards the yell. Draco shuddered as he saw an extremely large man looking disgusted, and standing away from the witches and wizards. He had an obscenely colored face and an obese body. The ugly man was standing and waving someone over. He then watched, rather dumbfounded, as Harry Potter approached the whale sized man. Harry was approaching his assumed relative reluctantly. He watched as Potter was cuffed roughly on his ear and yanked from the station, like a kid who was in trouble.

Draco's eyebrows fretted together. He had a feeling like something just wasn't quite right. Draco watched as Potter he struggled to keep up with the large man while dragging all his stuff, and attempting to keep his owl from falling. The fat man had a smug, sickening smile on his face, nor did the man offer to help Harry. Draco took a step forward, but only watched as they disappeared.

"Sev...I...was that Potters relatives?" Draco asked tentatively. Severus nodded, his eyes too had followed the whole scenario.

"Yes, they're a pretty conservative lot. From what I've seen in Occumulucy, Potters always in trouble for something." Severus seemed to have shrugged it off as nothing. Draco however didn't.

"What could have he to deserve such a harsh welcome? I mean, he did save the whole world. He should've been greeted with respect and adoration." Draco's voice trailed off. Severus raised an eyebrow.

"I'm sure they have their reasons. Not everyone coddles their children, especially not a child who has been upheld and worshiped all of his life." It was Draco's turn to raise a sculpted eyebrow.

"You coddle me." Draco accused.

"Well that's because I get rewards in coddling you, and you're not a child anymore at that"

Severus said, a glint in his eyes. Draco shivered, pulling his lover in for another kiss. Draco forgot his worries about Potter, for it was going to be a very good night.
