Remus/Hermione Challenge Two. The Challenge: What would happen if Hermione went
back in time, fell in love with Remus and were as close as can be, and got sent
back to her own time only to find out that she was pregnant by the Remus Lupin
of the past? What would she do if she found out just a little while after she
got back to her own time? What would happen with her and Remus once she tells
him that his teenage self got her pregnant while they were in love in the past
and that the pregnancy carried through to her own time?
Summary of this particular story in addition to the above
challenge: In Potions Class, Hermione drops her ring in the potion. When she
puts it on, it sends her to the time of the Marauders, where she meets one Mr.
Remus Lupin. Can he help mend her heart of the hurt she’s endured from her
uncle as she helps him with his lycanthropy condition? Are they meant to be
together in the end? Sorry, I suck at summaries. You are just going to have to
read and see if you like it. Please review and let me know. Also, if you are
interested, I have tons and I do mean tons of fics on fanfiction.net. Please
feel free to check those out. My name on there is lily-James-potter2004. And
now, without further ado…
Chapter One: The Potion
Hermione was
late for class, again. It was the third time that week that she was late for
Potions Class. Oh, Snape was going to kill her. She just knew it! She tried to
creep into the classroom and take her seat next to Harry while Snape had his
back turned.
“25 points
from Gryffindor, Miss Granger, and detention tonight at 8:00,” Snape said
without even turning around. Hermione sighed. How did he do that? It was like
he had eyes in the back of his head or something. Snape slowly turned to fix
his eyes on her and she just wanted to disappear at the look he was giving her.
“You will learn to be punctual in this class, Miss Granger,” he hissed before
turning to the rest of the class. “Directions are on the board, get started. I
expect the potion to be done by the time class is over.” He sat at his desk.
Hermione looked up at the board and noticed something.
“Um,
Professor?” she said softly, almost timidly. He raised his head and looked at
her. “There’s…uh…” she licked her lips nervously.
“Aw, you’ve
noticed I didn’t write the name of the potion, is that it, Miss Granger?” Snape
asked silkily. Hermione slowly nodded. Snape seemed to smirk at her. “Oh, I
didn’t think it was necessary for the potion to be made,” he replied. He looked
down at the papers on his desk.
“What does
it do?” she asked him but he ignored her. She sighed and turned to Harry, her
partner. “You want to get the ingredients or should I?” she asked.
“I will,”
Harry volunteered and he went to gather the ingredients while Hermione heated
up their cauldron. Harry returned to the table with the ingredients and they
set about cutting, chopping, and slicing. They were just stirring it three
times clockwise when Hermione gasped. Harry looked at her. “What?”
“My ring,”
she whispered. “It fell in the potion and it’s the only thing I have of my
mother’s before she died in the fire.” Tears were in her eyes now. Harry knew
she was talking about the fire that had taken her mother’s life the year before
and had destroyed the entire house and everything inside it. Her father had
already died two years before that.
“Don’t
worry, Hermione,” Harry said. “I’ll get it.” He grabbed the thing they were
stirring with and started gingerly dig for the ring without messing up the
potion.”
“Potter,
Granger, what are you doing?” Snape asked, swooping down on them like a hawk.
“You know if you don’t stir it exactly like it is supposed to be, it could be
dangerous.”
“I know,
sir,” Harry said, not even looking up. But he had stilled his hand motions.
“But Hermione lost a ring and it’s very special to her.” Snape sighed.
“Dunderheads,”
he muttered. “All of you. Dunderheads.” He glared at Harry, who finally looked
up at him. “The proper thing to do, Potter, would be to finish the potion,
bottle it up, and use a cleansing spell on the Cauldron. I assure you the ring
will be at the bottom.” He swept to the next table. Harry and Hermione quickly
finished stirring the potion and poured some into a couple of vials, labeling
them and setting them on Snape’s desk. Then Harry used a cleansing spell, just
like Snape said, to clean the Cauldron and sure enough, there at the bottom was
the ring. Hermione quickly snatched up the ring and slipped it in her pocket.
“So
Hermione, did you get your ring?” Ron asked, with a mouth full of food.
Hermione made a disgusted face but nodded. “Where is it?”
“In my
pocket,” she said. “I want it to dry off first.” Ron nodded and went back to
eating. Harry struck up a conversation with Ron about Quidditch, leaving
Hermione with her thoughts.
Hermione
screamed as her uncle, her guardian after her mother passed away, slammed into
her. He’d been drinking again and had decided he wanted her to be his. Finally
her uncle pulled out of her and got dressed. He looked down at her trembling
body and sneered.
“This is
all your good for, Hermione, remember that,” he said softly, chuckling. “You
think any many would respect you because of your brain? It’s the body they
want, not the intelligence.” And with that he walked out of the room. It wasn’t
the last time he raped her over the summer either.
Hermione
sighed. Maybe her father was right. I mean, did she ever get asked out? No.
Nobody ever wanted to ask the little bookworm out. Besides, who would want
anyways? Who wanted someone who allowed someone else to use their body that
way? Suddenly, Hermione wasn’t hungry anymore.
“I think
I’m going to go to bed, guys,” she said softly. “I’m not feeling too well.” The
boys barely glanced up as she hurried from the Great Hall but someone else
noticed her hasty exit. Someone sitting at the Head Table with sandy brown
hair, kind grey eyes, and a thoughtful expression on his face.
Hermione
hurried to her room and took a shower. She sighed as she felt the water relax
her. Finally, she got out and got ready for bed. It was then that she
remembered the ring. She quickly dug it out of the pocket of the robes she’d
been wearing and put it on her ring finger on her right hand. Slowly she turned
back the covers of the bed and slid in, falling asleep almost immediately. She
had no idea her life was about to change. Forever.
Author's note:
Well, what do you think? For those of you who have read this before I tweaked
the chapter a little bit, thanks to one of my reviewers who pointed out the
changes I needed to make. Thanks for reading and please review, if you haven't
already! Oh, and I did have two chapters but the second one needs a lot of work, as I don't like how it came out. It should be back up by tomorrow at the latest! Thanks for your patience!
