Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Disclaimer: I own nothing. I gain nothing.
Author’s Notes: I’ve only done one
other Snarry fic, and it was a Creature!Fic. I thought this would be fun and a
challenge, since I’m going to remain faithful to HBP… with my over-analytical
interpretations to the words and actions of the characters, yes, but faithful
nonetheless!
Prologue
XXXSNARRYXXX
BANG! “Bloody hell!”
“Watch your language!”
Harry dropped the pan of bacon to
the floor at the sudden loud noises coming from the family room. He
instinctively winced away from a fist that never came and the words ‘I’m sorry’
fell out of his mouth before he could stop himself.
“Potter! Get in here, boy! NOW!” Vernon
bellowed.
He ran into the room, shooting Ron
and Molly Weasley a relieved grin. “What are you doing here?”
“We came to get you, mate!” Ron
said brightly.
“Go and get your things, dear,”
Molly said.
Moments later, Harry sped down the
stairs with his trunk and Hedwig. He grinned at Ron when he noticed a bag in
his hand labeled ‘W.W.W.’
“Alright, then. We’re off. Back to
the Burrow, boys,” Molly said, “Oh, Harry, aren’t you going to say goodbye?”
He rolled his eyes. “Thanks for
the blood protection, I suppose. Goodbye, and I pray to the heavens that we’ll
never meet again. Enjoy what’s left of your pathetic lives,” he spat, unloading
years of anger and resentment into the venom-laced words. He was gone before Vernon
had time to retort and landed in front of the Weasleys’ hearth with a thud.
He was helped to his feet by Fred
and George, who grinned at him.
“Harry! How are you, mate?” Fred
asked.
“Just fine, now that I’m away from
there,” he replied.
“Figured as much,” George said.
“Hope you don’t mind that we a
sent a little parting gift for you cousin,” Fred added.
Harry laughed. “Not at all!”
“They’re specially made for him,”
George said.
“They don’t start working for
various amounts of time…”
“So he won’t realize what the
candies are doing until he’s finished them off…”
“And then, in just a few minutes’
time, he’ll be a very uncomfortable, very ugly,
pig with yellow feathers….”
“With fire coming out of odd
places and- a little something
inspired by our dear youngest brother- belching brightly colored slugs!”
Harry burst into rolling laughter,
doubled over by the force of it.
“You heard then?” Ron asked as he
appeared in the fireplace.
“Y-yeah!” Harry gasped.
“Well, try to calm yourself a bit,
‘cause here comes Mum,” Ron said.
Harry sobered himself up a bit,
and just in time, for Molly appeared in the next moment.
“I’ll take my things up to Ron’s
room, then,” Harry said, still snickering quietly.
“Don’t bother to unpack, dear.
You’ll be leaving again after dinner,” she said, smiling at him wearily.
“What?!” he and Ron exclaimed.
“I can’t say much more. I’m sorry.
All I can tell you is that Se-somebody with be here to you- and only you- up after dinner,” she said,
“So go and have fun and I’ll call you in for lunch.”
Naturally, Harry, Ron, Fred,
George, and Ginny grabbed their brooms and headed outside to practice
Quidditch. However, they found that they were far too distracted by their
indignation at Harry’s impending departure to do any real practicing. They
landed their brooms and sat about under the shade of trees and voiced their
opinions and speculations.
“Do you thing it’ll be Remus?” Ron
asked.
“Yeah, it could be that he’s
coming to take you to Grimmauld Place,”
Ginny agreed.
“Or some other member of the
Order,” George added.
“Or maybe Mum’s really a spy for
You-Know-Who, and she’s sold you out to the Death Eaters!” Fred exclaimed,
making them laugh.
“I don’t what they’re going to do
with me, but if they were just taking me to Grimmauld
Place, they would have said something,” Harry
said, “Why all the secrecy?”
“I don’t know… maybe you’re going
back to Hogwarts,” Ron said.
“Maybe. Who knows?” Harry sighed,
flopping onto his back in the grass, “All I know is that I just want to stay
here.”
“Yeah, but since when do you get
anything that you want?” Fred stated, grinning at him.
Harry scoffed at him. “Merlin
knows, you’re right!”
“Aww, are we having a pity party,
Harry?” a voice said from behind them.
They turned around to see Hermione
Granger strolling over to them.
“Hello ‘Mione,” Harry said, “And
yes. We are.”
“Well, stop it. You know how I
abhor pity parties,” she scolded, sitting down next to him, “Molly said to tell
you all that lunch will be in about twenty minutes.”
“Thanks,” Harry said.
“So, why are we feeling sorry for
ourself now?” she asked.
“Mum and I got him from those
awful relatives of his just this morning and he’s got to leave again after
dinner!” Ron exclaimed, “She won’t tell us who’s coming to get him, or where
they’re taking him, or why, or anything!”
“Oh… I see. And heaven knows that
that’s the worst case of injustice that Harry’s been dealt,” she said
sarcastically, “You’ll find out after dinner who it is, but until then, there
is absolutely no point in worrying yourselves about it.”
Harry smiled and sat up. “You’re
right, ‘Mione. What would we do without you?”
“You’d probably have gotten
yourselves killed by now,” she said sweetly.
With that last scathing remark
they set back toward the house, their rumbling stomachs begging to be appeased.
After lunch they had Hermione help them with some of their summer homework and
went for a walk before dinner, when Molly called them in.
During and after the meal, the
atmosphere in the house was thick and heavy with tension. A sense of dread and
apprehension seemed to permeate the silence, broken only by the quiet clicking
of Harry and Ron moving their chess pieces across the board and Hermione
whispering helpful hints and instructions to Harry. They were deeply involved
in their game when there was a knock at the door.
Hermione jumped to her feet and
practically ran to the back door, calling, “Don’t worry! I’ll get it!” She
opened the door only to gasp in horror and stumble back from the looming figure
in front of her.
“Snape?!” Harry exclaimed,
standing and drawing his wand on the man.
“No! Harry, put your wand away,”
Molly said, “Severus is here to pick you up.”
“Yes, so gather your things, Mr.
Potter,” the man said, stepping into the kitchen. He quirked an eyebrow at the
chess board. “Chess, Mr. Potter? I must say, I am surprised.”
“Hurry and get your things,” Molly
said.
“I’m not going anywhere with- that
murderer!” Harry snarled.
“Now, don’t make a fuss, Harry,”
Arthur said, setting Harry’s trunk down by Severus, “He’s as safe as they
come.”
“Safe?! Have you all gone mad ?” Harry exclaimed.
Severus sighed, striding over to
Harry. “I do not have time for this. Stupefy!”
He caught Harry’s limp form
easily, summoning his trunk into his hand, and apparated away.

This was just a prologue,
remember, so it is a wee bit short.
No, this will not affect Latent, so
don’t worry if you’re a fan. I’m going to try my very best not to neglect one
story for the other. Thanks for reading and please review! My plot-bunnies live
off of feed-back!
